Oktoberfest Heroes: Andrea

This is Andrea, a Hofbräu-Festzelt waitress who is approx. 150cm tall. She is our hero.

???? Note the foam in the beer.. it's supposed to be at that level. By the time it gets to the table it will settle and the glasses will contain exactly 1 Litre of delicious Munich beer. Prost! ????

Check out more Oktoberfest heroes here:

To become an Oktoberfest server one needs to be something a little more than human. They need to survive 16 days of the most grueling and underappreciated work. It’s a year’s worth of training—physical, mental, emotional—for 16 days straight working 12-hour days. On their feet, in a tent, under all kinds of pressure.

So let's say an almighty PROST to these heroes who keep the 6.5 million visitors hydrated in the beer tents!

A walk of 10.3 km in Meldert (Flemish-Brabant) in Belgium. A hiking route marked by hiking club Trip-Trap. We walk through the Meldert forest and we pass the castle of Meldert, and through the village of 'l Ecluse. It's January and the trails are muddy. We return along the fields to the place of departure.

The Ardennes (Belgium) is perhaps one of the most beautiful areas in Belgium. The extensive forests, rolling hills and small villages make it an ideal area for a day trip, a long weekend or even a wonderful holiday for a few weeks. Every season here has its own charms and attractions. Whether it's the warmly colored forests in the fall, the snowy slopes in the winter, the burgeoning nature in the spring or just enjoying the beautiful summers. The Ardennes has something to offer for everyone.
Remouchamps is a place in the Belgian province of Liège and part of Aywaille. The town is best known for the caves of Remouchamps and the hill La Redoute, and is located on the Amblève and Ninglinspo. (rivers)
From Remouchamps we go to the higher forests and thus head towards Aywaille, and along the river the Amblève we return to the starting point: in total 11.5 km.

Visit Hoegaarden and discover the gardens near the Saint Gorgonius church. The tower in white Gobertange stone dominates from afar the view of this village celebrated for its beer. The church is recognised as the largest Rococo one in the country. The gardens of Hoegaarden are well known, especially for its wide variety of flower forms and colours. All kind of Agapanthus, papavers or poppies, roses and different plants of the genus Iris are growing during the year. Exceptional trees, several bushes and hedges are also popular. Discover here what make the gardens of Hoegaarden such a great destination to visit.

BELFRY OF BRUGES & BRUGES BEER TASTING EXPERIENCE

We are in Bruges! (Brugge or Bruges?? It's actually both...)

There are so many things to do in Bruges. Join us as we explore the Belfry of Bruges at the Markt Square, go on a canal boat tour, drink the best hot chocolate in Bruges and Steve samples some delectable beer as he tries out the Bruges beer tasting experience at Le Trappiste, one of the coziest, if a bit touristic, bars in Bruges!

The Belfry of Bruges is an imposing structure at the heart of the city and it was no small feat to climb the 366 steps all the way up to the top and take in the magnificent views, as well as get to see and hear the bells chiming their wonderful songs. It was great to be at the scene of one of our favourite movies... you know the one ;)

We try the best hot chocolate in Bruges and unfortunately every other hot chocolate we have from now on will just not be on par with the chocolatey, thick, gooey deliciousness in a mug that we got to try at Vero Caffe, a lovely cafe serving vegan options, tucked away in a sleepy square.

The canal boat tour we decided to take was definitely our highlight of our trip and definitely one of the best things to do in Bruges. We got a whole new perspective on the medieval city as we were whisked down waterways as old as the city itself.

Le Trappiste is a wonderful bar in a vaulted, brick cellar and for a reasonable price you can saunter down the steps, up to the bar and order 5 beers out of a lengthy list of 21 artisinal ales, beers, lambics and stouts as smooth jazz plays in the background. Steve was excited to try this beer tasting experience to say the least. It was a fantastic way to experience the nightlife in Bruges.

Join us on our next misadventure in: IRELAND!

↟ Who are Roam Naturally?! ↟

We are Steve and Eda, an Irish couple who always felt that travel was beyond our reach until we started watching tons of travel videos. We became inspired to make travel a part of our lifestyle and we're here to show you that you can make it a part of yours too!

[Vlog in Europe] Is living in Belgium and Europe expensive? No! Today I went to a giant supermarket in Brussels. Supermarkets in Europe are very cheap. Living in Europe is actually not expensive at all, so it's very suitable for international students to save money. This time I went to Carrefour Hypermarket. Not only can you find Belgian beers and chocolates, but there are also different home appliances, clothes, and home products. I had leg pain after shopping there. I bought food, beers and snacks for the coming few weeks, guess how much I spent?
