Places to see in ( Tarporley - UK )

Places to see in ( Tarporley - UK )

Tarporley is a large village and civil parish in Cheshire, England. It is bypassed by the A49 and A51 roads, and holds a regular country market on the first Saturday of each month. Tarporley civil parish also contains the village of Rhuddall Heath. Since 2009 it forms part of the unitary authority district of Cheshire West and Chester.

Tarporley High Street features four pubs: the Foresters Arms, the Swan Hotel, the Crown Hotel, and the Rising Sun. The High Street is also home to four restaurants: Piste, The Coast Restaurant and Bar, Little Tap, and STREET Tarporley. The Tarporley Hunt Club, the oldest surviving hunt club in England, meets in the village every Christmas.

The Urban District of Tarporley was created in 1894 and was abolished in 1936. From 1936 until 1974 Tarporley was a part of the Rural District of Northwich, until that district's abolition as a result of the Local Government Act 1972. From 1 April 1974 Tarporley formed part of the borough of Vale Royal, within Cheshire and was included in the new unitary authority of Cheshire West and Chester on 1 April 2009. The village has civil parish status and its own parish council, giving it some limited local government autonomy. The parish council comprises 12 locally elected members.

Tarporley is bypassed by the A49 and A51 roads. The village was once served by Beeston Castle and Tarporley railway station on the Chester to Crewe main line, more than two miles from the village; the line remains open but the station closed in April 1966. A local bus service, route 84, is provided by Arriva.

( Tarporley - UK ) is well know as a tourist destination because of the variety of places you can enjoy while you are visiting Tarporley . Through a series of videos we will try to show you recommended places to visit in Tarporley - UK

A Brief Visit to Helsby

A real gem of British railway stations is found in the Cheshire town of Helsby.
The junction is found on the Manchester Piccadilly to Chester Line with a branch to Ellesmere Port and Hooton.
The station buildings are grade 2 listed and are of a gothic style. A fine signal box is situated on platform 2/3. There are a fine set of upper quadrant semaphore signals and other singling paraphernalia all around.
Several freights a day are booked through the station but you will be lucky to see one at the weekend.
During my visit i saw 175112 Arriva unit on a Llandudno to Manchester Piccadilly service on 24/2/18
And 175116 on a Manchester Piccadilly to Chester service. on 25/2/18

On Cheshire Lines - Helsby 2021

Highlights of visits to Helsby Junction in 2021. After the TfW train heads East toward Warrington, an empty sand train arrives from Ince and Elton, and follows the 175 en route to Warrington Arpley Yard. The empties will later be worked forward to Middleton Towers near Kings Lynn. The final shot shows the Colas Class 70 hauled service from Carlisle to Chirk. The GE Symphony Orchestra was ably conducted by driver Mike Lunn and he definitely hit the right notes for onlookers! Look out for the tall co-acting signals - thought to be the last co-acting semaphores in the UK.

Helsby Station 24/4/22

Helsby Station is situated on the line between Chester, Liverpool and Warrington Bank Quay; services here are provided by both Northern Rail and Transport For Wales (TFW)

TFW services through here are operating either towards Manchester Airport, Liverpool Lime Street or towards Chester, Llandudno and North Wales; TFW use a mix of Class 150/153/158/175 Diesel Multiple Units to operate these services. The prementioned class of trains are all up for replacement with brand new Class 197's DMU's being introduced from the end of 2022

Northern Rail Services here operate towards Chester or towards Leeds although these services are fairly limited here during the week: Northern typically use Class 195 Diesel Multiple Units to operate these services:

Northern also operate a very limited parliamentary services from Helsby towards Ellesmere Port and back two times a day typically using Class 150 or Class 156 Diesel Multiple Units

Places to see in ( Twickenham - UK )

Places to see in ( Twickenham - UK )

Twickenham is a leafy suburban area of south west London, on the River Thames in the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames 10 miles southwest of the centre of London. Twickenham has an extensive town centre and is famous as being the home of rugby union, with hundreds of thousands of spectators visiting Twickenham Stadium, the world's largest rugby stadium, each year.

The historic riverside area is famous for its network of 18th-century buildings and pleasure grounds, many of which survive intact. This area has three grand period mansions with public access: York House, Marble Hill and Strawberry Hill House. Another has been lost, that belonging to 18th-century aphoristic poet Alexander Pope. Among these is the Neo-Gothic prototype home of Horace Walpole which has given its name to a whole district, Strawberry Hill, and is linked with the oldest Roman Catholic university in the country, St Mary's University, Twickenham.

Twickenham is bounded by the River Thames on the south and the land is relatively flat though it does rise gently to the West as it approaches Whitton. The land is fertile and was home to numerous market gardens before housing became the predominant land use with the coming on the railways in the mid nineteenth century.

Originally Twickenham station was situated on the western side of the A310 London Road bridge before the new station was opened on the eastern side. This accounts for roads named Railway Approach and Station Road, which now give no access to the station.

Twickenham is home to the headquarters of the Rugby Football Union and Twickenham Stadium. The England National Rugby Union Team play all their home matches at Twickenham Stadium, which is one of England’s largest stadiums and the world’s largest rugby stadium. Harlequins, a rugby union club, play at the Twickenham Stoop.

2160p 4K HD!

A few people have recently requested some videos on the Merseyrail network. So on the Tuesday 22nd October 2019 (Day of the Eclipse) I decided to venture down the route between Helsby & Ellesmere Port which is only served by 3 or 4 services a day. From Ellesmere Port we headed onto the MerseyRail network to Hooton and back to Chester. So this video includes all that footage.

Note that the mew 195's are in services from Leeds to Chester via Manchester Victoria so you must give these new trains a try in the north.

Half an Hour at (4) - Helsby Station 29.1.2014 Class 156 158 175

Number 4 in this series sees a visit to Helsby Junction, a station serving this large commuter village between Chester, Ellesmere Port and Runcorn. The station is where the Hooton branch which celebrated it's 150th anniversary in 2013, splits from the Warrington to Chester mainline. The station is well maintained by volunteers (as is seen from the train planter) and has won numerous awards. A wet afternoon saw the following:

5F14 Chester to Helsby - Northern DMU 156491 arrives via platform 2, before maneuvering into platform 4 for it's next working

2F14 Helsby to Ellesmere Port - 156491 leaves empty

1D39 Manchester Piccadilly - Llandudno - Arriva Trains Wales 158 arrives from Warrington before heading off towards Chester

2F15 / 2F16 - 156491 arrives again equally empty before heading back to Ellesmere Port with 1 passenger

1H90 Llandudno - Manchester Piccadilly. ATW Class175 heads off via Warrington Bank Quay and Earlestown
