Walking in KULMBACH / Germany ????????- Rainy Sunday Tour - 4K 60fps (UHD)
Kulmbach / Germany is a town in Franconia, Bavaria. The town is famous for Plassenburg Castle, for its sausages and (thanks to a large brewery) for its beer. There are a few other sights in the city center which we will visit on this walking tour.
We start our walk at the Dr.-Stammberger-Halle where events of the city mostly take place. Next we walk into the old town of Kulmbach but first uphill to the White Tower (Weißer Turm). It gets further up to the Red Tower (Roter Turm) and we can enjoy some view over Kulmbach. It's a rainy Sunday and few people are out in the street.
Our tour continues heading down to the center again where we see the Petrikirche. We stroll around some back alleys while heading towards the market square with the Townhall of Kulmbach and the Luitpoldbrunnen.
We check out a few of Kulmbach's pedestrian streets though with the shops closed on Sunday we eventually head to the Zinnsfelderbrunnen. So we get back to where we started, the Dr.-Stammberger-Halle, to end this tour of Kulmbach.

Deutsches Dampflokmuseum Neuenmarkt | Jede Menge Eisenbahn
Jede Menge Dampfloks aus dem letzten Jahrhundert stehen im Deutschen Dampflokmuseum in Neuenmarkt bei Kulmbach. Dort gibt es auch den Salonwagen, den die Kanzler Konrad Adenauer und Willy Brandt sowie Queen Elisabeth nutzten.

This is the bridge over the Saale river at Hirschberg which became the border between the two Germanys in 1945. Now reopened.

Central and Eastern European Packaging examines the packaging industry throughout this region, but in particular in the largest regional economies which are Russia, Germany, Poland, Czech Republic, Ukraine and Austria. That is not to say that the other countries are forgotten, they are not, but obviously there is less going on. However the fact that there are so many travel related films here is not from holidays but from business trips attending trade fairs around the region. Every packaging trade fair is a new excuse to make another film!

Comicmuseum | Bei Donald Duck in Entenhausen | Erika Fuchs Haus in Franken
Erika Fuchs, die Übersetzerin und Chefredakteurin des Micky Maus Magazins (von 1951 bis 1988), lebte in Schwarzenbach an der Saale im Fichtelgebirge. Heute gibt es in der kleinen Stadt das Erika Fuchs-Haus. Das ist ein Comic-Museum, das sich mit Erika Fuchs und ihrer Arbeit beschäftigt. Hier geht es vor allem um die Disney-Comics und die Welt im Entenhausen/Duckburg, die Erika Fuchs für den deutschen Markt erschuf. Auf dem Friedhof von Schwarzenbach befindet sich das Grab von Erika Fuchs

Cologne (Köln), Germany - the Gestapo Headquarters (EL-De Haus) in Cologne (Köln). Let's visit the city of Cologne (Köln) in Germany and let's tour is the infamous EL-De Haus that was used by the Gestapo for interrogation, torturing and killing of the prisoners, located in Cologne (Köln), Germany.
EL-DE Haus, officially the NS Documentation Center of the City of Cologne, located in Cologne (Köln), is the former headquarters of the Gestapo and now a museum documenting the Third Reich.
The building of EL-DE Haus, was at first the business premises of jeweller Leopold Dahmen, and the building takes its name from his initials. In 1934, the Nazis rented the building of EL-DE Haus from him and turned it into the headquarters of the secret police, the Gestapo. Surprisingly, the building survived the Allied bombing of Cologne during World War II, while 90% of the city was destroyed. After the bombings, the basements of the building, which had been used as prison cells and torture rooms for forced labourers and political enemies, were used to store wartime files and paperwork. Inscriptions made on the walls of the prison cells by inmates can still be viewed today. The building was the site of many executions, as well as deaths due to overcrowding and poor hygienic conditions.

It's been another interesting / challenging / typical full-time van life week. Once again we're reminded that living in a van full-time will constantly provide you with the odd maintenance curve-ball. A van that's in use will ALWAYS be in a more predictable condition that one that was standing in storage - keep this in mind when you're thinking of getting your own! Luckily we're prepared (and mostly competent enough ????) to fix almost everything ourselves - although it can still put an unpleasant halt in any plan.

Auschwitz standing cells under Block 11
The Auschwitz standing cells were located under Block 11 which was the punishment block. Therefore the standing cells were used for extreme punishment at Auschwitz. In such a terrible place the punishment needed to be very severe. Prisoners were held in cells measuring roughly 90x90cm with up to four people per cell. Ventilation was via a small opening in the door which was very low. They would be taken to slave labour in punishment units doing the hardest work. It is clear that someone sentenced to spending time in these cells would not survive very long.
