Welcome to What Yacht To Do, a Great Loop Documentary. Today, (July 10, 2021) Rev and Sam are moving on their Great Loop Route from Harbor Beach Marina in Harbor Beach, Michigan to the Harrisville Municipal Marina in Harrisville, Michigan.
We are cruising around America's Great Loop for a second time and selected a 1999 Carver 504 named the Here's To Us!! as our Great Loop boat. So much goes into Great Loop planning and we share every trip with you. Welcome aboard!

Let's Visit Harrisville, MI and Harrisville State Park
Harrisville, MI is located between Tawas City and Alpena, MI along US 23. It is one of the smallest cities in Michigan with a nice, small harbor along Lake Huron. There are also two state parks nearby: one is Harrisville State Park which is covered in the second half of the video. The park has a nice trail to walk on, a great campground, and a beach along Lake Huron.
The other state park nearby (not covered in this video) is the Sturgeon Point Light Station. I have filmed a video of this lighthouse a few years back:

Harrisville State Park is small at just 107 acres, but don't let its size fool you. A nice campground, a beach on Lake Huron, plus bicycle and nature trails help make this a nice location to get away.

Harrisville State Park, Michigan
Harrisville State Park is located along Michigan’s Lake Huron coast off the Heritage US Route 23 in Harrisville, Michigan. The park is known for its heavily forested land spanning more than one hundred acres, its beautiful Lake Huron beach, for excellent birding along the Sunrise Coast Birding Trail and a great location for those that want to take a day trip to the local attractions along US Route 23.

Before I went to check out views of the full blood moon (the eclipse part you could not see from this side of the globe) I stopped at this little gem of a park to chill, reflect and see these beautiful falls. The next lunar eclipse of such a length is due in 2123, and none of us here & now will unfortunately, ever see it.

Michigan State Parks 100: Sturgeon Point Lighthouse
This is an odd little state park on Lake Huron jointly managed by the Michigan Department of Natural Resources and the Alcona County Historical Society. Mostly comprised of the historic Sturgeon Point Lighthouse, a beach and an old one-room schoolhouse, there's no camping allowed here. It's just a few miles away from Harrisville State Park, so consider making this a short excursion to check out some history if you're staying at Harrisville.
