Atlanta, known for its rise from the ashes of the Civil War, boasts several noteworthy attractions. Margaret Mitchell wrote Gone with the Wind in this city, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. began his public activities, and John Stith Pemberton invented Coca-Cola. In downtown Atlanta, visitors can explore various landmarks such as the World of Coca-Cola museum, the Georgia Aquarium, the CNN Center, the National Civil and Human Rights Center, and the College Football Hall of Fame. Derek and I had so much fun visiting our college friends in Atlanta, Georgia this spring!
Neither of us had spent considerable time in Atlanta prior to this visit, so we didn’t know what to expect when we arrived. We ended up finding a busy food city with great art and culture to boot - what a treat!
After a long weekend exploring around town, eating tons of food, visiting attractions, asking questions to my pals who live there, and so much more, I felt that I was able to get a pretty solid lay of the land.
On the last day of my ATL stay, I had a blast filming this video dedicated to anyone else who is planning a trip to Atlanta!

This is our top 10 things to do in Atlanta, Georgia from a LOCAL. This list of our best places to visit in Atlanta from a local's perspective is some of the not so Google'd places when visiting the ATL.

Some places worth mentioning are midtown Atlanta where you can find some lesser known attractions within the downtown Atlanta city. The Krog Street Tunnel is an attraction within the city of Atlanta that features street art that is protected among the locals. The Krog St. Market is also along the way if you're up for a bite to eat when visiting. Another place is Atlantic Station which is an up-coming area in downtown Atlanta with shops, restaurants, and a movie theatre too.
Another hidden relic of the past is the Starlight Drive In Theatre to catch a movie or shop the local market during the day. Some best things to do when visiting Atlanta is you should check out the Atlanta Botanical Garden right next to Piedmont Park. The garden is definitely worth checking out since they're close in proximity, and it is why we recommend visiting with this Atlanta city guide, and Atlanta city tour.
Moving outside the perimeter of Atlanta, there's so many cool things to do in Atlanta GA such as the Battery which is also linked to Truist Park, home of the Atlanta Braves in Smyrna, Georgia. There you can grab a bite to eat, shop, and even catch a baseball game too. If you're into reminiscing the past, we recommend going just a bit further into Marietta, GA where you can find the Cobb Antique Mall which features thousands of antiques and is really a hot spot and THE palce to go when shopping for older pieces that you can't find anywhere else.

A hidden gem of Atlanta is the East Palisades trail which features a bamboo forrest which is unlike any thing you've ever seen. We use Sony Alpha series cameras to film our videos. They are compact so you don’t look like a super tourist when you take great pictures and videos while you travel.
We use Manfrotto Tripods. They are compact, travel well, and honestly I would not use another tripod for my nice cameras.
Travel Plug that works in pretty much any country & has four USB ports. A must for any traveler.

Before you book your tickets, you want to plan ahead for the best free things to do in Atlanta, Georgia. There’s so much to do that you want to make sure you make the most out of your trip!
As Atlanta is a city with beautiful nature, your trip should include a visit to the park, nature trails, and a bit of hiking. You can start by exploring the Silver Comet Trail. This is a trail that starts outside of Atlanta and stops about 60 miles from the Alabama border. It’s a great trail for walking or biking.
If you like parks, you’ve got to visit the Centennial Olympic Park. This is a large park that’s great for walking, jogging, or playing sports. This was the site of the 1996 Olympic Games. It’s even got an ice skating rink!
If you’re a history buff, you should take a free walking tour starting at Piedmont Park. With these tours, you’ll learn about Atlanta’s fascinating history. You should also stop by the Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park. This was the site of a Civil War battleground and is a must-see if you want to learn more about American history.

Hapeville is a city in Fulton County, Georgia, United States, located adjacent to the city of Atlanta. The population was 6,373 at the 2010 census. It is named for Dr. Samuel Hape, one of the area's original landowners and its first mayor.
During the 1950s and 1960s, Hapeville was a thriving part of the Tri-City (Hapeville, East Point, College Park) area and its post-World War II population supported four elementary schools (Josephine Wells, North Avenue, College Street, and St. John's Catholic school) and one high school. During the 40 years following, it became regarded as a somewhat depressed industrial area. Since 2005, Hapeville has seen significant gentrification, beginning with the Virginia Park neighborhood and then spreading throughout the city. Hapeville has been discovered by young professionals seeking historic neighborhoods close to downtown Atlanta, and there has been a great deal of new residential construction, including single-family homes, townhomes, and upscale apartments. This new residential development has led to a revived historic downtown. Hapeville has also been discovered by metro Atlanta's arts community, and the beginnings of an artist colony have taken shape with the formation of the Hapeville Arts Alliance. The Hapeville Historic District is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
From 1947 until 2006, Hapeville was home to the Ford Atlanta Assembly Plant, recently manufacturing the Taurus. There are development plans to open a multi-use development, Aerotropolis Atlanta, on the site, which is adjacent to Atlanta Airport. Currently, Porsche North America is building its North America Headquarters on the Ford site.
Hapeville is also home to the Dwarf House - the first Chick-fil-A restaurant and the first Johnny's Pizza.
