We took a short drive from Amanzimtoti to Durban and our anticipation for revisiting the city after so many years was palpable, only to be met with an unexpected amount of traffic. Navigating through the bustling harbour was a captivating experience, as massive trucks diligently transported their cargo. The drive along the renowned beachfront was a nostalgic delight, evoking a rush of fond memories. The enduring beauty of Durban's beachfront was heartening to witness. While our exploration of Mini Town was enjoyable, the inability to access uShaka Marine World proved a disappointment. Bivane Dam : about 45 km from Vryheid KZN South Africa. A recreational area built/completed in 2000 to serve local agricultural irrigation needs and the water needs of local communities. The facility also has a nature reserve containing small buck and leopards are known to inhabit this area as well. A good value for money getaway in a scenic, secluded corner of the Kwazulu Natal Province.

Our trip to Pietermaritzburg was an astonishing experience. We had heard about the city's stunning historic buildings, but witnessing them in person was truly unbelievable. The Town Hall left us in awe with its breathtaking design, and the old station, which we initially thought had succumbed to destruction, surprised us by standing immaculately-preserved. Walking along its platform was a delightful experience. Spotting the sign for Scottsville Racecourse excited us, prompting a visit to witness the immense stretch the horses cover during races, a truly mind-boggling sight. The following morning, amidst dealing with a flat tyre, we felt compelled to explore the old jailhouse where President Nelson Mandela had spent a night following his arrest. #DustBugs #adventuretravel #southafrica #southafricavlog #travelongravel #kwazulunatal #pietermaritzburg
