Shinkansen with JR pass・・・very convenient and nice!
But , if you prefer to visit unseen local Japan, we recommend to use car rental as well.
It is useful to travel around areas where it's hard to visit by public transportation.
Of course it's very convenient to combine Shinkansen and drive trip depending on your destination.
From Tokyo, there are a lot of attractive destination where you can feel unique atmosphere where you can't feel in other areas.
One of the options is Northward Golden Route which includes Saitama, Gunma and Niigata.
There are both Shinkansen line and highway belonging these three prefectures from Tokyo and each prefecture has unique attractions.
In this video, we introduce a part of attractions in Niigata through drive journey.

Only 70 minutes from Tokyo and after passing through a long tunnel, we find another Japan different from Tokyo and Kyoto.
Niigata Prefecture was once a wealthy region. It boasted the largest population in Japan until 150 years ago. However, due to the development of the transportation networks, the economic center shifted to the Pacific coast side, leaving the region on the Sea of Japan side behind. However, that is precisely why all of the culture, traditions, and original scenery were preserved, almost as though sealed inside a time capsule. There is another side of Japan which we miss, and it can be found in Niigata.

中山神社 / GoPro HERO 10 / 新潟県五泉市 Gosen Niigata Japan
GoPro HERO 10 を購入したので、以前にも撮影したことのある新潟県五泉市 中山神社で撮影テストをしました。
今回のテスト撮影でもう一回課題を持ってテスト撮影が必要となりました。
GoPro HERO 10 を使って分かった事:
・GoPro HERO 10 (以後：10)をUSBケーブルでパソコンに繋いでもパソコンのQuikは反応しない。
・SDカードを直接パソコンに挿すとパソコンのQuikは即反応。
・逆光の時、白飛びが気になる。
・個体の熱が気になる。
・ビデオ圧縮がHEVC(H.265)に初期設定されてる。旧モデルはH.264+HEVCだったので編集時注意が必要。
編集ソフト: CyberLink PowerDirector 365 (パソコンの仕様による）
・編集後にHEVC(H.265)で普通に書き出す場合には凄い時間が掛かる。
・HEVC(H.265)で書き出す場合、高速ビデオ レンダリング技術を使う必要。
・以前、高速ビデオ レンダリング技術を使うとカットのつなぎ目で次のカットに入るとき画像が白く飛ぶので使わなくなった経験から、書き出した動画をチェックするまで注意が必要。
・もしカット場面で白飛びが入った場合、普通の書き出しにすると問題はないが、動画の時間の10倍以上の書き出し時間が必要。
・HEVC(H.265)の撮影は書き出しを運に任せるしかない。

Hello. This video is a relaxing walk in Japan.
I walked around Gosen City in the early morning.
Starting from Awashima Park, we headed to Gosen Hachimangu Shrine under a wonderful blue sky, listening to birdsong and encountering many wind chimes.
We then walked in front of the station and visited an abandoned commercial building.
Finally, we also took pictures of the old trains on display in the park.
