10 Most Amazing Mayan Ruins - Travel Video

For almost a millennium, the ancient ruins of great architecture lay buried beneath the jungle vegetation on the Yucatan Peninsula. Abandoned by their creators these ancient temples and pyramids are a stunning reminder of a powerful civilization that once ruled the people of Central America. Although the accomplishments of the ancient Mayans are astonishing, no city would escape the inevitable collapse. One by one they were swallowed by the rainforest leaving the amazing Mayan ruins hidden, waiting to be discovered.

Day Trip to Seguin ???????? (FULL EPISODE) S10 E12

Seguin has been around since the dawn of Texas, but that doesn't mean this place is outdated. Actually -- it's full of fresh adventures and spots you'd never expect to find. From classic haunts to renovated historic buildings, this place is anything but ordinary.

This town has quite some nutty history. To honor Seguin’s long legacy of pecans, they built the world’s largest pecan statue in 1962 (5 feet tall) on the courthouse lawn. Then in 2002, John Pape decided to up the ante and build an even larger pecan statue (11 feet tall) outside of Pape Pecan house. Little did he know, Brunswick, MO, had already beat them out for the world’s largest pecan with an even larger statue. Finally in 2010, Seguin reclaimed the title (for now) with the 16-foot monster outside the Texas Agricultural Center.

Seguin is also home to the World’s Largest Nutcracker Collection. Head on to Pape Pecan House to peruse the collection of over eight thousand crackers from all around the world including characters like Darth Vader, figurines like the presidents and even some you’ve never even seen before.

This home is a historic wonder. Not only is it made entirely of “limecrete” (a form of early concrete), but it is built in the Greek Revival style and has a special way of storing water on the roof. It’s definitley worth a visit — especially to see the special exhibit on freed slaves who made a huge difference in history.

As one of the oldest cities in Texas, it should come as no surprise that Seguin has it’s fair share of ghost stories — most of which are at this 1844 hotel. Take a tour using fancy ghost hunting tools to see if you can meet all 13 of the spirits haunting this old building. Whether you believe in ghosts or not, you’re in for a truly good scare.

Guero’s Backyard is like an upscale neighborhood block party — except instead of burnt hamburgers and cold hotdogs, they’re serving up some of the best fusion street tacos you’ve ever eaten. Filled with fresh ingredients like sesame crusted ahi tuna, seared flank steak and collard greens, and they’re unlike anything you’ve tasted before.

Sitting on Texas’s own version of Niagra Falls is an old power plant that’s been converted to a comfort food cafe with an electric atmosphere. I highly suggest the Chicken Fried Steak smothered in Queso because, well, you can’t get anymore Texan than that.

Who would’ve thought that the perfect island getaway would be smack in the middle of Texas? Sons island is a tropical paradise and natural island miles away from the nearest ocean, full of cabanas, hammocks, water fun and island vibes!

VANCOUVER ISLAND, BC, CANADA | 10 INCREDIBLE places to visit on Vancouver Island

Vancouver Island combines large forests, rugged landscapes, rocky mountain peaks, and mysterious coastlines. After living in this beautiful place for a combined 10 years, we’ll break down the 10 MOST INCREDIBLE places you have to visit on Vancouver Island (footage accumulated over the years):

10. Cameron Lake & Cathedral Grove
These are located near each other in central Vancouver Island, sitting between Parksville and Port Alberni. Cameron lake is a tranquil spot on the island with many other natural attractions in the area. Witness the old-growth giant trees at Cathedral Grove and more.

9. Goldstream Provincial Park
Located right outside of Victoria, Goldstream Provincial Park is a great spot for hiking, camping and connecting with nature. Explore the beautiful “Niagara” waterfall or do a challenging hike to the neighboring peak of Mount Finlayson.

❗NOTE: Goldstream Trestle has now been CLOSED to the public

8. Victoria
Sitting on the southern end, Victoria is the most popular and accessible destination on Vancouver Island. Within a 20-minute driving radius of the city, there are tons of things to do in Victoria. You can choose to explore the British colonial Downtown on foot, take a tour to the magnificent Butchart Gardens, see the stunning Hatley Castle, or explore the wildlife on a whale watching tour.

☑️ Book Whale Watching Tour:

7. Port Renfrew
The fishing village of Port Renfrew is another place you cannot miss on Vancouver Island! Also called Wild Renfrew, this area is known for its ancient rainforest, world-class hiking trails, and its stunning beaches.

6. Cowichan Valley
Cowichan Valley is another unique place to visit on Vancouver Island. Activities to enjoy here include hiking or biking Mount Tzouhalem, sipping wine at one of the idyllic vineyards, exploring the largest totem pole collection in Duncan, and seeing the sea lions in Cowichan Bay.

5. Lake Cowichan
Lake Cowichan is another amazing travel destination worth mentioning on its own. This freshwater lake is about 30 km or 18.6mi long and sits to the west of Duncan, in the Cowichan Valley.

4. Shawnigan Lake
Located about 40km north of Victoria at the southern edge of the Cowichan Valley, Shawnigan Lake is a popular place to vacation. The lake is 7km long and great for fishing, swimming, and sunbathing in the summer. But what we like the most in this area is hiking.

❗NOTE: The Quarry has now been CLOSED to the public

3. Sombrio & Mystic Beach
Mystic Beach has a beautiful waterfall that Cascades into the ocean, whereas Sombrio Beach has the best vibe for beach camping. Sombrio is a popular weekend getaway with friends or family during the summer and also offers some hidden waterfalls of its own.

2. Tofino & Ucluelet
Tofino and Ucluelet are both great destinations to get away and relax in nature on Vancouver Island! There is amazing hiking and surfing, and you will find the sandiest beaches on the island here! Our top pick of beaches include Cox Bay, Mackenzie Beach, Chesterman Beach, Long Beach, and Wickaninnish.

1. Strathcona Provincial Park
Located in the heart of the island, Strathcona Provincial Park has the purest nature, richest wildlife and most breathtaking scenery on all of Vancouver Island. Our top picks in the park include Landslide Lake, Myra Falls, and Cream Lake.

We decided to combine two of our favorite things on our last trip to Mexico City; Travel and Pixar! Coco is one of our favorite Disney Pixar movies. Most people think of the smaller more remote Mexican towns that inspired the fictional town of Santa Cecilia, but the creators at Pixar traveled to Mexico City too for inspiration when making Coco. From ancient history at el museo nacional de antropologia to live mariachi music at Plaza Garibaldi check of these 4 places you can see in Mexico City that inspired Pixar's Coco.
