Colac Review - Whats Up Downunder Summer Series - Go Make Some Memories
The latest of our Top 10 holiday destinations within two hours of Melbourne is Colac, south-west of Melbourne.
Colac was declared a city in 1960, has a population of over 10,000 and is situated on the third largest volcanic plains in the world!
The town is centred around Murray St, which is the home of the Colac commercial district. Here you'll find fantastic restaurants and cafes, lots of shopping and everything you'll need while on holidays.
The town is named after the nearby Lake Colac which is the largest freshwater lake in Victoria and is great for a swim on a hot summer's day as well as boating. A bird reserve also attracts an array of diverse bird life to the lake.
Another must-visit local attraction is the Botanical Gardens. These 12 hectare gardens feature playgrounds, shady picnic spots, historical trees and views across Lake Colac.

Day Trip to New Braunfels ???? (FULL EPISODE) S7 E10
Many know this town for the slip and slides of Schlitterbahn, but that’s just one slice of this German town. A passion for the past mixed with many new adventures await you in a town that will make your day trip truly das beste. (P.S. - It's pronounced New BRAUN-FULS)
One can’t mention New Braunfels without mentioning the famous Comal River. At 2 miles long, it’s the shortest river in Texas and perfect for an afternoon float. The most popular place to start your float is Prince Solms Park. Grab your tube, your beverage of choice, and hop in. While most of this river is slow moving, the city tube shoot near the beginning will give you all the whitewater you can handle and has been known to flip many a floater. You might want to hold onto your stuff, or else be prepared to make an involuntary donation to the river depths.
For a more adrenaline-pumping experience, head to the Texas Ski Ranch, where you can learn to wakeboard without a boat. Just grab a board and hold on tight as a cable-system pulls you around a circular lake. My advice for first timers: watch out for the turns, and be prepared to spend more time under the water than on top of it!
To start your day, visit Naegelin’s Bakery, the oldest bakery in Texas dating back to 1868. The fresh baked goods are made with age-old German recipes. The apple strudel is amazing and the old-fashioned German cookies like “spingerles” and “Pfeffernusses” will have you thinking you’re back in the motherland.
If you’re looking to add a little spice to your day, then stop by the Phoenix Saloon, a chili parlor housed in the building where chili powder was invented in 1894. They serve it the Texan way (read: the right way), as every bowl of chili is served bean-free with chunks of sirloin and lots of spice. Be warned, the “ring of fire” bowl requires a waiver. They’ve also got burgers and sandwiches for all those who don’t like chili (if that’s even possible…)
The best way to learn about the German roots of New Braunfels and Prince Carl, the German Prince who settled the area, is to visit the Sophienburg Museum. Here, you’ll see tons of German artifacts like a life-size model of the ship that families took to arrive in Texas.
Another place that is historic in its own right, and one of America’s most iconic roadside attractions, is Snake Farm (cue the Ray Wiley Hubbard). This zoo sits right on the highway and has been curing snake fears since 1967. They’ve got a wide range of the world’s creepiest snakes from Black Mambas to Rattlers and Cobras. If snakes aren’t your thing, step outside to an incredible zoo with lions, hyenas, and more. Don’t miss the weekly gator feedings. CHOMP!

PORT MELBOURNE BEACH - LAGOON PIER - MELBOURNE AUSTRALIA
(PORT MELBOURNE BEACH) VISIT TO (LAGOON PIER) AUSTRALIA
(Melbourne Beaches) Australia - (Port Melbourne) & (South Melbourne Beach) - (Lagoon Pier Port Melbourne)
Melbourne offers a Great choice of Beaches and Piers Stretching along the Port Phillip Bay. In this Video im visiting Port Melbourne (Lagoon pier) which is a fantastic place to see the surrounding area and (Station Pier Melbourne) Home of Spirit of Tasmania Ferry and docking Pier for Major Cruise Liners Visiting Melbourne Port.
(Port Melbourne) is an inner suburb of Melbourne, Australia, 5 km south-west from Melbourne's central business district. It is split between the local government areas of Melbourne and Port Phillip. The area to the north of the West Gate Freeway is in the City of Melbourne. The area to the south is in the City of Port Phillip. At the 2016 Census, Port Melbourne had a population of 16,175.[1]
The suburb is bordered by the shores of Hobsons Bay and the lower reaches of the Yarra River. Port Melbourne covers a large area, which includes the distinct localities of Fishermans Bend, Garden City and Beacon Cove.
Historically it was known as Sandridge and developed as the City's second port, linked to the nearby Melbourne CBD.
The formerly industrial Port Melbourne has been subject to intense urban renewal over the past two decades. As a result, Port Melbourne is a diverse and historic area, featuring industrial and port areas along the Yarra, to open parklands, bayside beaches, exclusive apartments and Bay Street's restaurants and cafes. The suburb also forms a major transport link from east to west, home to one end of the West Gate Bridge.
(Port Phillip) (also commonly referred to as Port Phillip Bay), is a port in southern Victoria, Australia. It is nearly surrounded by the city of Melbourne and its suburbs. Geographically, the port covers 1,930 square kilometres (480,000 acres) and the shore stretches roughly 264 km (164 mi). Although it is extremely shallow for its size, most of the port is navigable. The deepest portion is only 24 metres (79 ft), and half the region is shallower than 8 m (26 ft). The volume of the water in the port is around 25 cubic kilometres (6.0 cu mi).
Before European settlement the area around Port Phillip was divided between the territories of the Wathaurong (to the west), Wurundjeri (north) and Boonwurrung (south and east) Nations. Its waters and coast are home to seals, whales, dolphins, corals, and many kinds of seabirds and migratory waders.
The first Europeans to enter the port were the crews of HMS Lady Nelson, commanded by John Murray and, ten weeks later, HMS Investigator commanded by Matthew Flinders, in 1802. Subsequent expeditions into the bay took place in 1803 to establish the first settlement in Victoria, near Sorrento, but was abandoned in 1804. Thirty years later, settlers from Tasmania returned to establish Melbourne, now the state's capital city, at the mouth of the Yarra River in 1835 and Geelong at Corio Bay in 1838. Today Port Phillip is the most densely populated catchment in Australia[1] with an estimated 4.5 million people living around the bay; Melbourne's suburbs extend around much of the northern and eastern shorelines, and the city of Geelong sprawls around Corio Bay, in the port's western arm.
