We drove 2 hours north to spend the day in Richmond, and see for ourselves just what great things this city had to offer. We tried to fit a lot of things to do in just one day. Check out a few the links here in the description to find out more about the locations.
Richmond is quickly transforming into a cultural hotspot, and great restaurants are popping up every week!
We dropped a pin to the location of the Pipeline Trial for anyone confused like we were. After walking down E. Canal St., we turned onto Virginia St. There is a small parking lot at the end of the road where you can park, and walk a short distance to the entrance.

Top 5 Suburbs in Richmond, VA
????Thinking about making a move to Richmond, Virginia, but are not sure where to start your home search? Allow me to introduce you to my Top 5 Suburbs in Richmond, VA!
1️⃣ First up is one of my personal favorites, Midlothian, Virginia. Midlothian is a wonderful bedroom community located within a half hour driving distance to the heart of the city of Richmond ans here you will find plenty of options from single family homes to townhomes and condos. Listen up for my vote on best neighborhood in Midlothian.
2️⃣ Next we go to Glen Allen, Virginia which is located in Henrico County. With Glen Allen being so close to Downtown Short Pump, this is certainly a destination for those who love to be close to shopping, dining, and entertaining! The neighborhood of Wyndham is my favorite and here I list a few others to put on your short list.
3️⃣ Now we make our way to Mechanicsville, Virginia which is just about 20-25 minutes from the City of Richmond making this a destination for downtown commuters. What are the best neighborhoods in Mechanicsville? Find out at the midway mark!
4️⃣ For those that like a little more elbow room, and those that don’t mind well & septic properties, Powhatan may be just what you are looking for! About 35 minutes from the city, Powhatan is like a little escape but still close enough to not have FOMO. I particularly love the gated community of Greywalls, which is located within The Foundry Golf Club, but I also love several other neighborhoods, like the water community of Lake Shawnee. I ❤️ Powhatan so much I made it my own home!
5️⃣ Last, but certainly not least, is the City of Richmond. I know, not quite a Suburb but one can not make a move to RVA without at least giving The Fan a close look. With a high walk score and the hustle & bustle of VCA, The Fan offers a unique and vibrant living experience! Plus, if you really want a suburb, check out the Forest Hill and Westover Hills, in Richmond.
