Diksmuide - Peace Tower Ijzertoren
On our Dambusters Tour in July 2013 we detoured on our way home to visit the town of Diksmuide in Belgium to see the famous Peace Tower or Ijzertoren.

Het is het jaar van de kastelen en abdijen in het Brugse Ommeland. Historica Véronique Lambert neemt Anne mee naar de Abdij Ten Putte in Gistel. In deze kleine, pittoreske abdij woont een jonge gemeenschap en is het aangenaam tot rust komen. Ideaal te combineren met een natuurwandeling of een bezoek aan het Kasteel van Loppem!

BRUGGE, Belgium - Bikes and Buses
Fall paradise of Brugge. The food is expensive but the hotels don't have to be. Quick train ride to and from many other interesting places. In the north half of Belgium the language is Dutch (French in the South). So the music is a complex arrangement from a well known Dutch group of the 1960s by the name of Group 1850.
Most of the streets are paved in Belgian Block, the same type used by New York City. These are NOT cobblestones! Cobblestones are small rounded stones predating the use of shaped, quarried granite blocks.
In the rather large yet walkable historic center, the streets are shared. In two days I never heard the plaintive whine of a frustrated motorist's horn.
Documentary St. Godelieve Abbey and the Monastery in Bruges (English subtitles)

Brugge covered in snow
It was the first day north Western Europe experienced snow in year 2019.
I was travelling through Belgium and it was also pretty to visit Brugge where the fairytale city was covered in snow.

We visited Brugge in October of 2013. It's a beautiful medieval city, and there's chocolate and Belgian waffles.

Dit is OOSTENDE, BELGIË???????? (West Vlaanderen) - Mijn eerste indruk als NEDERLANDSE toerist
In deze video laat ik Oostende zien door de ogen van een toerist. Wat kun je bijvoorbeeld verwachten van het centrum en strand? Het strand staat weliswaar in de Europese top-50 van mooiste stranden die we in Europa hebben, maar is dat terecht?
Verder neem ik je mee door het centrum van de stad. Hoe verplaats je je het voordeligst of gemakkelijkst? Dat kan onder andere met een bijzondere tram, die rijdt over de langste tramlijn ter wereld.

Bruges Busses - riding around town
A small network of buses operated by De Lijn (070 22 02 00; in Flemish) covers destinations in and around Bruges. Most depart from De Lijn's information office on the square in front of the train station, and many stop at central locations such as 't Zand, Markt, Wollestraat and Biekorf on Kuipersstraat.
From the train station, buses 1, 3, 4, 11, 13, 14 and 16 head for the centre -- take any bus marked 'Centrum'.
A single ticket bought at De Lijn's information office costs €1.20 (or €1.50 on the bus), a dagpas (day ticket) is €5 (or €6 on the bus) and a 10-journey lijnkaart (network card) is €8 (€10 on the bus). A tweerittenkaart (two rides) costs €2 and can be used either for one journey by two people, or for two rides by one person. Buses run from 5.30am until about 11pm. On Friday and Saturday, limited night-bus services run from the centre to the suburbs (and to Damme) until 2am.
