Whale Watching in Gaspé | Québec, Canada Road Trip ????
We're in Forillon National Park boarding a zodiac to go whale watching! We start the day off waking up in a tiny home where we stayed for the first time (slept better than we thought!) and head out early to the wharf. The whale watching is delayed so we take advantage of the time by exploring beautiful Forillon National Park, the first national park in Québec. We hike to La Chute, a gorgeous waterfall shaped like a wedding cake and have the place all to ourselves. Next we discover some of the cool camping accommodations at Forilllon before heading back to the water for the whale watching cruise. We see lots of whales, seals, and birds and get a great view of Cap Gaspé, the easternmost point of the Gaspé Peninsula, from the boat.

The Best Seafood in Gaspé | Québec, Canada Road Trip
Our Gaspé road trip continues with a sunny day of sightseeing followed by a dinner of the best seafood in Gaspé. We start out at the lighthouse in Carleton-sur-mer and soak up its laidback holiday vibes. Next we visit Ferme Bourdages, a strawberry farm that makes its own strawberry wine along with lots of other products. There’s a cafe and shop so we order a super fresh strawberry milkshake to go. Further along the road, we stretch our legs in New Carlisle by strolling along the accessible boardwalk on the beach. After that we visit the Paspébiac National Historic Site which has been at the heart of the cod fishing industry since 1767. You can tour the original buildings, watch the blacksmith make nails using bellows that date back to 1840, and learn all about how the cod export business grew and shaped history. It’s a fascinating place. After working up a hunger, we make another stop at Mich Cafe in Chandler where you can enjoy your food and drinks outside while sitting in giant tea cups. Next up is a roadside stop to see the picturesque wharf in L’anse-à-Beaufils where the colourful boats are charming. Before arriving in Percé, we pull over at a lookout point that offers a great first look down to iconic Percé Rock. We arrive at magic hour when the light is lighting up the rock in yellow and orange hues. Ready for dinner, we pull in to La Maison du Pêcheur, located right on the water, for a fantastic meal of fresh, local Gaspésienne cuisine. This restaurant is a must-eat in Percé (reserve ahead so you don’t miss out!).

Perfect Day in Gaspésie National Park | Québec, Canada
We’re spending a perfect day in Gaspésie National Park! This massive park is full of trails and activities for both summer and winter. Parts of the International Appalachian Trail (Sentier International des Appalaches) go through here as well. We’re staying at the fabulous Gîte du Mont-Albert, a 4-star hotel within the national park that sits nestled in the shadow of Mount Albert. We start the day off with a delicious breakfast and pre-order our lunchboxes to take with us as we explore the park. We decide on the Ernest-Laforce trail because it’s one of the best areas to spot moose. There’s also a perfect 360-degree view at the top and, lucky for us, the visibility is great. We highly recommend this trail, especially if you are short on time or not an experienced hiker. We're sad to leave Gaspesie National Park and feel some culture shock as we head back to the real world that includes getting our cell phone signals back. Next we head to Projet Éole in Cap-Chat. It’s the world’s highest vertical axis wind turbine. Built in the 1980s, it was a research and development project between Hydro-Québec and the National Research Council. They wanted to investigate wind energy and see if a turbine like this could produce power and, if so, how much. Spoiler: it did produce power and was in operation for some years, however, there was an explosion that put an end to the project. It was too expensive to repair so they sold it for a price you'll never believe! You'll also find here Quebec's first wind farm. We consider both Gaspesie National Park and Projet Éole must-sees in the Gaspé.

A road trip through Gaspe peninsula in Eastern Quebec is one of the most iconic road trips in Canada.
The route 132 on the southern shores of St. Lawrence River is one of the most scenic drive in Canada.
Although the road to Gaspe town is more than 8 hours from the nearest city (Quebec city) but the road is full of interesting attractions and amazing natural scenes so it is recommended to span the trip over at least 2 days and implement that “the journey is as important as the destination”

Visiting Canada's Tallest Lighthouse | Gaspésie, Québec, Canada
We're visiting Canada's tallest lighthouse as we continue our incredible road trip around Gaspé! In fact the day turns into a bit of an unofficial lighthouse tour because we visit three that are all unique and noteworthy in their own ways. First, however, we start the day down at the harbour in the town of Gaspé at a place called the Birthplace of Canada. This is where Jacques Cartier first arrived in 1534 and planted a cross to claim these lands for the King of France. Now you can see a granite cross erected in 1934 to commemorate the 400th anniversary of his arrival and also learn about the Indigenous people who were already living here and met with Cartier. We also visit two lovely cafes that we recommend checking out in Gaspé plus the Gaspésie Museum which has impressive multimedia exhibitions telling the fascinating history of this area.
We are delighted to partner with the Québec Maritime Tourism Board to bring you this new series around one of the most picturesque and historic parts of Canada. Ziplining & Sea Kayaking in Gaspésie | Québec, Canada
Today is full of adventure on our Gaspésie road trip! We start out at the UNESCO Global Geopark of Percé where you can discover over 500 million years of Earth’s history. Geoparks are areas of particular international geological significance and must therefore be protected. The highlight of the geopark is a suspended glass platform where you can look straight down through the glass floor at the treetops below. If that’s not enough of an adrenaline rush for you then how about a zip line? You can glide down the mountain to a platform below with iconic Percé Rock within your sights. We make a quick stop on the way out of town for Marc to pick up a souvenir t-shirt at a boutique called Choses Percé. It has Percé Rock on the front and looks like the cover of a Tintin book (we’re big fans!). We also visit a plaque dedicated to Sir William Logan who became the first director of the Geological Survey of Canada in 1842. Then we drive to Cap-aux-Os where the adventure continues with sea kayaking to visit a seal colony. We get all suited up and head out at sunset, which makes for beautiful golden hour light and peaceful paddling. What an amazing way to spend the day in Gaspé.

The Gaspé Peninsula is a rugged, windswept region in southeastern Quebec, Canada that spans 11,714 square miles. It's located between the Gulf of St. Lawrence and the St. Lawrence estuary.
