Fukagawa walk, feel the mood of Edo traditions in Japan -Half Day Walk in Tokyo-

Welcome to Beautiful Harmony Japan (BHJ)!!

This time, we took a half-day walk through Fukagawa, a downtown that has tradition cultures, gardens and temples from the Edo period.
Located about 10 minutes away from Tokyo Station, it's hard to believe it's in the center of the Tokyo city.

Fukagawa has developed a unique culture along the river, and you can even see the bridges that were built in influence of the landscape of Cologne. Did you know of original bridge??

I'll continue to explore the deeper culture of Tokyo in this series--Half Day Walk in Tokyo--!! Please check it out :)

We’d recommend the Airbnb unit that we stayed in. It is clean, comfortable and has all the amenities needed. It is also located in a great neighbourhood with lots restaurants and shops very close by, along with 2 train stations 5-10 minutes away by foot. Best part is the host who is helpful and courteous and genuinely wanted to make sure we enjoyed our stay in her unit.

Experience Edo Era Tokyo - Fukagawa Edo Museum

Julian and Yasu visit the Fukagawa Edo Museum (深川江戸資料館) which features a realistic recreation of an Edo Period village, giving you an excellent experience of Edo Era Japan. Fukagawa is a traditional downtown located on the eastern side of Tokyo.

Compared to its much bigger and better-known cousin called the Edo Hakubutsukan which draws huge crowds and can be a bit overwhelming at times, the Fukagawa Edo Museum is a much more reasonable sized museum in which an entire Edo Period village has been recreated.

Overall, the Fukagawa Edo Museum is definitely worth visiting that offers a great immersive experience and a better understanding of the Edo Period.

Find more details about the Fukagawa Edo Museum on our Website:

The Fukagawa Edo Museum is well known for its meticulously recreated and entertaining exhibits that take place in Fukagawa Sagacho Town, which actually existed in 1840 during the Edo period.

Infoarmation about Fukagawa Edo Museum (English)

Website of Fukagawa Edo Museum | Koto City Cultural Community Foundation (Partially Japanese)

Inside the museum, a full-scale diorama gives visitors a glimpse of Fukagawa Sagacho Town in 1840, at the end of the Edo period. The exhibits are fascinating in that each family structure and occupation are also detailed, and daily necessities are arranged to suit each family's lifestyle. Visitors will enjoy a realistic view of the people who lived in Fukagawa Sagacho Town. Visitors can actually hold the daily necessities in their hands and admire them.

TOKYO Japan's 5 Busiest Tourist Traps to WATCH OUT for

These are the busiest streets in Tokyo also known as Tourist Traps in Tokyo. We take a camera walking tour of Tokyo's busiest streets and I show you some local tip and tricks on how to beat the crowds while also showing you how busy Tokyo Tourists Traps can actually get. Now if you like walking around, in Tokyo's busiest streets, then by all means visit during the crowded times with all the tourists, but if you want to avoid being packed in like sardines on the street then definitely this video will have some useful tips for you. Tsukiji Fish Markets is probably the number one destination for most Japan Travelers as it is an amazing place to catch Japanese culture and Japanese street food, but you really need to be careful as it does get a bit busy on Saturdays as you can see from this video. This is also similar to Ameya Yokocho or in short Ameyoko. Ameyoko though is especially busy on weekend afternoons. Asakusa is the number one tourist trap in all of Tokyo and even on the winter it is crazy busy. I suggest visiting Asakusa at night to get a peaceful look at this magical area. Harajuku is a young persons destination with some tasty sweets, but watch out for the school kid rush. Finally, Shin Okubo also known as Tokyo's Korea Town is an amazing street food destination but it sometimes gets so busy that the train station exits close. Definitely be careful with this tourist trap location. The weekends are the most crowded times but weekdays can also be a mess, but hopefully it help you navigate through the busy streets of Tokyo.
