Colt Creek State Park in Lakeland FL | Things to Do in Lakeland | FL Nature Trail with a Book
In today's video, we head to another State Park in Florida. This one is called Colt Creek State Park and it is just outside of Lakeland, FL. It isn't a very big state park and there are not a whole lot of activities there. However, one unique thing that they offer is a nature trail that offers a picture book that you can read while walking on the trail. It was a cool story and was really a neat idea! There is a huge 10-mile trail that you can go on. This park is perfect for horses and that is why this trail was so long! There are several different campsites as well. There is also a nice pavilion and a place you can fish. There are also events that take place. If you are looking for something to do near Lakeland, FL that involves being outdoors, stop by Colt Creek State Park.

Lake Griffin State Park - Fruitland Park, FL

This is a very beautiful Florida State Park strangely right off one of the busiest corridor highways connecting Leesburg and Ocala. The entrance is off Hwy 441/27 (3 miles north of Leesburg) and the faint hum of traffic is strangely mixed with the sounds of song birds while you walk the nature trails. The feature of this park is the abundance of beautiful old live oaks trees including one of the 3 oldest and largest in the state. The base is 10 feet in diameter, 84 feet tall with a spread of 131 feet. Strange to see trees that spread out further than they grow upwards. Many of them are draped in beautiful spanish moss. There is a boat ramp and courtesy dock with canoe and kayak rentals. A 1000 foot canal leads to the Dead River which then empties into Lake Griffin after 1 mile. Fishing for largemount bass, bluegill and speckled perch are plentiful for anglers. The park has 40 campsites, including 7 pull-thrus. All sites have water & electricity (10 have 50A) and 7 have sewer hook-ups. Showers, restrooms and laundry are found in the center of the campground.
As you can see, many sites offer nice seclusion and wonderful foliage. Ours was long and narrow but easy to get into and quite secluded. We stayed a week and enjoyed ourselves immensely.

Brunswick, Georgia | What Happened To This Place?
Brunswick, GA...wow! This is one of the poorest and most dangerous cities in the state of Georgia. High in crime, homelessness, and having an over 32% poverty level, its one of the worst cities to live in within the United States. I saw a whole lot of abandoned / dilapidated homes, and very few people around. The economy is struggling as its one of the slowest recovering cities in Georgia after recent years, and there's no improvement in sight. Brunswick is also known as The Shrimp Capital of The World. The Port of Brunswick is one of the largest US roll on / roll off points of trade, with automobiles being one of the biggest sources. You wouldn't think that by what I seen though. There's a lot of history and potential here, can it make a come back? Let's take a drive and check out some of the worst areas!
