What are the 10 prettiest towns in the county of Essex? To determine this, I visited them all. Here's what I found out.

As a disclaimer, this list is neither a social commentary, nor a guide on which are the nicest towns to live, but purely a judgement on the aesthetics of each respective town centre.

Places to see in ( Frinton On Sea - UK )

Frinton-on-Sea is a small seaside town in the Tendring District of Essex, England. It is part of the parish of Frinton and Walton. Until late Victorian times Frinton-on-Sea was a church, several farms and a handful of cottages. It is mentioned in the Domesday Book.

In the first half of the 20th century the town attracted visitors from high society. Connaught Avenue, named after the Duke of Connaught and opened by his wife, was nicknamed East Anglia's Bond Street. Other attractions included a lido complete with palm trees, high class hotels along the Esplanade, and a tennis tournament second only to Wimbledon. The Prince of Wales frequented the golf club and Winston Churchill rented a house.

Frinton has three points of entry by road: an unadopted road from Walton-on-the-Naze in the north, a residential road, and a CCTV monitored level crossing adjacent to the railway station which replaced the older gated crossing in 2009. Frinton was once geographically distinct, but housing estates now line the roads between Frinton and Walton-on-the-Naze, Kirby Cross and Kirby-Le-Soken.

The town has sandy and stone beach washed daily, more than a mile (1,600 m) long, with wardens in season, and an area of sea zoned for swimming, sailing and windsurfing. The shore is lined by a promenade with several hundred beach huts. Landward from the promenade is a long greensward, popular with young and old alike, stretching from the boundary with Walton-on-Naze to the golf club in the south.

Frinton is home to the Frinton Summer Theatre Season at the McGrigor Hall every summer. Started in 1937 by the Cambridge Academic T P Hoar as an amusement whilst he studied corrosion, it quickly developed a life of its own, employing many famous actors at the start of their career. Michael Denison, Vanessa Redgrave, Timothy West, Jane Asher, David Suchet, Gary Oldman, Owen Teale, Linda Bellingham, Jack Klaff and Neil Dudgeon all started their careers at Frinton.

Frinton-on-Sea Walk: Town Centre & Beach【4K】

Located in the county of Essex, on the east coast and around 15 miles east, and slightly south, of Colchester, is the town of Frinton-on-Sea.

Before the Victorian era, Frinton was a small farming village. Its community was centred around St Mary the Virgin Church. Featuring a 14th century nave, it is said to be the smallest complete church in Essex (seen just after the 7-minute mark).

The story of Frinton as a seaside resort began in the 1890s when industrialist Richard Powell Cooper purchased land in the area. He rejected plans for a pier and prohibited boarding houses and pubs in the town. This would set it apart from other seaside towns including neighbouring Walton-on-the-Naze and Clacton-on-Sea in terms of its visitor & resident demographics, which remains largely the case to this day.

Frinton-on-Sea's railway station predates its growth as a resort town, having opened in 1867. Today the station is situated on the Walton branch of the Sunshine Coast Line which links up to Colchester on the Great Eastern Main Line between London Liverpool Street and Norwich.

In 1895 Frinton Golf Club opened. The following year saw the opening of the Grand Hotel, which welcomed royalty including King George VI and Queen Elizabeth II. The hotel closed in 1991.

Due to its 19th century founding charter stipulating that no pubs were to be built, Frinton had long since been known as a 'dry resort'. This changed in 2000 with the opening of the Lock & Barrel (seen around 10-and-a-half minutes in), effectively breaking said charter.

Frinton On Sea

????????Frinton Essex UK⎮4K Ultra HD Binaural Audio⎮High Street Walking Video ☀️

Firstly, huge and heartfelt thanks to all who have subscribed to my channel.
Video description ????????

This video is taking you up and down the very lovely Frinton High Street in Essex, UK on 21st March 2020, around 10am. The video was made just after the British Government issued advice for all to stay indoors and only venture outdoors for fresh air and vital supplies (yes... I know doughnuts are not vital!). We were surprised how many people were out, we have stayed indoors since.

Frinton is a beach town not too far from Walton and Clacton, it's a little quieter than the other beaches and as you will see has a nice an unspoilt high street. The promenade takes you from Frinton to Walton, which I recorded earlier in the year.

The video was made using a DJI Osmo Pocket camera, with DJI ND16 lens filter. I also used a DIY binaural mic, detailed in a previous video.

12 Reasons Why Clacton on Sea Is One of The Worst Places in England

Why Clacton on sea is one of the worst places in England? In our video that features Clacton-on-Sea as one of the towns in England, we tried to stay on the positive side. We knew for sure that the town has many more going against it than for it. We are sorry, we just have to focus on the negatives now. We have once proved that it is a poor town to live in. It goes without saying that a poor town can hardly be one of the best towns. In this video, we will give 12 reasons why Clacton-on-Sea is one of the worst places to live in England. Of course, we would also try to state the defense of those who do not want to agree with that ranking.
1. It’s a shadow of its past
Clacton-on-Sea used to be one of the best traditional seaside towns in its country. For some 100 years, the seafront has presumably been a destination for holidaymakers. Unfortunately, the town’s reputation has plummeted in recent times. It’s now being overshadowed by the other seaside destinations. It’s no longer the seaside resort people flock to when they need a break from everyday life. The last part of the 20th century saw holidaymakers turning to cheaper and richer package holidays elsewhere and making trips abroad for their break away. This turned the town into a place without purpose. Thus, visitors no longer have reasons to visit Clacton-on-Sea as was the early case in the 1900s.
2. The town is drab
Just try and look up this town and see what your search result will be. It’s just like an empty space on the web. This is because nothing is really happening there. It’s like a place stuck in a time wrap. You will discover that very little progress is being made in this town in many aspects. They have no leisure complexes like the ones in Basildon, Colchester, and Southend. The same housings have been there for over a century without modern touches. They don’t have retail options and this leaves the town stagnant. Not much will be seen in the town reflecting his history and culture.
3. The Dry Seafront
Seafronts towns are naturally not a place for serious investment unless there are some serious initiatives. These are what is missing in Clacton-on-Sea. It lacks investment, unlike some seaside towns like Margate and Leigh-on-Sea that have adapted and become trendy. All you’d find in Clacton-on-Sea is the same pier and amusements of the time past. That makes it an old-fashioned town. In defense of the town, it’s being promised that the pier will soon have a new rollercoaster installed on it. They also claim that in the summer months, there’s plenty to buy in terms of food and drink.
4. Its high street is uninviting
The high street in the town is nothing to write home about. Businesses are closing down while empty shops line both sides of the street. No new ones are opening up. Most of the few shops still operating in this town are still charity shops and pound shops. That means you’ve got no compelling reason to do shopping here as you won’t have enough to buy. No wonder Clacton-on-Sea is one of the worst places to live in England. Lovers of this town believe that the plan to build 250 new homes in the Little Clacton part of the town, off Thorpe Road, if successful will increase the population and bring in new leisure and hospitality businesses.
5. It's Depressing
Tendring has been described as one of the most depressing places to live more than once in reliable rankings including the ones in the official sources. This is mainly due to the level of deprivation in their towns without any prospects. That’s why residents are unhappy. Those among them seeking happiness do move elsewhere. Though a recent government survey reveals that many residents of Tendring are happy with their local authority area, with many of them rating themselves 7.5 out of 10 in the happiness index, Clacton residents are especially not happy. Clacton-on-Sea is the reason the whole local authority is regarded as depressing.
