Fiumicino is a town and comune in the Metropolitan City of Rome, Lazio, central Italy, with a population of 77,870. It is famous for the presence of the Leonardo da Vinci–Fiumicino Airport, the busiest airport in Italy and the sixth busiest in Europe.
The name literally means little river. The town of Fiumicino should not be confused with its namesake, Fiumicino, a small river near Rimini. Fiumicino became a comune in 1992; previously it was part of the municipality of Rome, being almost totally included in the former Municipio XIV. On 24 August 2013, a small mud volcano popped up at the centre of the via Coccia di Morto roundabout.
Located by the Tyrrhenian coast. Fiumicino borders with the municipalities of Anguillara Sabazia, Cerveteri, Ladispoli and Rome. It lies in the northern side of the mouth of Tiber river, next to Ostia. It counts the hamlets (frazioni) of Aeroporto Leonardo da Vinci, Ara Nova (or Aranova), Casale del Castellaccio, Castel Campanile, Focene, Fregene, Isola Sacra, Le Vignole, Maccarese, Palidoro, Parco Leonardo, Passo Oscuro (or Passoscuro), Porto, Testa di Lepre, Torrimpietra, Tragliata and Tragliatella.
Fiumicino is home to the largest airport in Italy, the Leonardo da Vinci–Fiumicino Airport, which includes the Fiumicino Aeroporto railway station. The city also houses the head offices of Alitalia and Blue Panorama Airlines. All Nippon Airways has its Rome Sales Office in the Room 447 in the (Torre Uffici), on the airport property. Cathay Pacific has an office in the airport's Torre Uffici 2. In addition Small Planet Airlines has an office in Fiumicino. In addition, Fiumicino has a large fishing center on the Tyrrhenian Sea coast and a sea resort.
The Leonardo Da Vinci International Airport, also known as Rome-Fiumicino, lies in the north-eastern suburb of the town. It is served by the A91 motorway from Rome and by the Roman Suburban Railway line FL1. The municipality counts the railway stations of Fiumicino Aeroporto and Parco Leonardo, both on the line FL1. Airport station is also served by a non-stop train from/to Roma Termini named Leonardo Express.
The other stations within the municipality, Maccarese-Fregene and Torre in Pietra-Palidoro, are part of the Rome-Pisa line. The branch line from Parco Leonardo to the town's centre, counting the stations of Porto, Fiumicino and Fiumicino Porto Canale, was closed in 2000.

In this virtual tour we walked at sunset on the beach in Fregene.
We started the walk near the mouth of the Arrone River.
The Arrone originates in the southeastern part of Lake Bracciano and flows into the Tyrrhenian Sea.
During the walk we took a look at the refuge house of writer Alberto Moravia, which is located along the bank of the Arrone River.
From there we continued our walk on the beach past the popular Singita bathhouse.

Where To Go In Rome, Italy
This video is a little bit delayed, but I'm sharing you the highlights I've seen while visiting Rome, Italy! We also did a private tour with a Roman lady and she took us to see non-touristy corners of Rome, places only locals go. Aside from sightseeing, we also got to enjoy local food including wood fire oven pizza, Italian wine, and some liqueurs.

Luoghi | FREGENE 2022 | Miraggio Club
Fuor di dubbio che resto legato allo stabilimento LaBaia, ma proprio perché situato tra altri due storici stabilimenti con ristorante, quali Miraggio e Mastino è inevitabile frequentarli per vicinato, soprattutto il Miraggio che ha la mia età e offre la comodità della piscina, mentre Mastino, a mio avviso, resta solo ristorante.
Al Miraggio Club (..per tutti semplicemente Miraggio, per distinguerlo da il Miraggio che è invece l'omonimo Hotel nella retrostante pineta) non avevo mai dedicato uno specifico video-ricordo su questo mio Diario, sebbene riprese e foto della location compaiano in altri miei video annuali su Fregene realizzati nel corso del tempo; così ho deciso di recuperare!
Le prime volta che sono stato qui risalgono ai ricordi di quando ero ancora teenager negli indimenticabili Anni '80 e qui capitava venirci coi compagni di scuola delle medie che mi invitavano coi loro genitori per una giornata oppure alle superiori tra amici in leggendarie trasferte da Roma in motorino 50cc. (Prima ancora, da bambino, si andava invece con la famiglia solo a Maccarese e Cerenova per via delle spiagge ampie dove poter scavare in libertà, giocare a pollone, tamburello, frisbee, con l'aquilone, il canotto gofiabile, le bocce di plastica, ecc.. insomma giochi e attività meno tollerate a Fregene, se non vietate!).
Ad agosto mi trasferivo a MilanoMarittima.
Tornando al Miraggio, nei successivi Anni '90 da universitario, si veniva invece solo al tramonto e sera per le feste con i vari dj dell'epoca che reclutavano per lo più gente di RomaNord. Si veniva in auto con gli amici del comprensorio e palazzi vicini quando Miraggio significava, insieme al Rio, location al mare per feste serali.
Questi i ricordi personali, ma ripercorriamo un po' la storia dello stabilimento.
Come è notorio, nasce nel 1972 quando la famiglia Santerini rilevò Il Miraggio. Non erano una famiglia qualunque, romagnoli di origine, a Roma erano già conosciuti in quanto titolari di uno dei ristoranti più celeberrimi del centro storico e tutt'oggi situato in Largo dei Lombardi a via del Corso: La Capricciosa. Una fama che arrivava anche dall’aver ideato (con tanto di brevetto) la ricetta della pizza Capricciosa e che dava nome al locale.
Non per niente, sulla scia della notorietà del ristorante, inizialmente Il Miraggio parte col nome di “Capricciosa a mare”, ma si smarca rapidamente e comincia a farsi notare e non solo per le pizze di uno dei primi forni a legna di Fregene.
All'epoca la gestione dello stabilimento era stata affidata alla figlia maggiore, Susanna Santerini, col marito Alberto Franchellucci: un giovane con tanta voglia di fare che veniva dal settore dell’abbigliamento. Alberto è un vulcano di idee e nel 1975 viene aperta la discoteca che segna una svolta, perché diventa subito uno dei locali meglio frequentati nel panorama nazionale. Nulla di nuovo, ma novità per Fregene.
Aprendo una parentesi e leggera disgressione, dicevo nulla di nuovo perché personalmente vanto che il mio bisnonno materno, Conte Ginanni, già quasi vent'anni prima nel 1957 in Romagna quale patron del dancing-ristorante Paradiso (che poi il figlio della compagna Fabbri svilupperà in discoteca..) aveva inventato un locale di fama nazionale che potremmo definire una sorta di Billionaire di Briatore ante-litteram.
Ben poca cosa il Miraggio a confronto, eppure il connubio pizzeria-discoteca funziona e soprattutto con la bellezza di Fregene!
Leggo che chi non ha vissuto quegli anni non può immaginare cosa ha rappresentato Il Miraggio per i giovani degli anni ’70 e ’80: le Ferrari all’ingresso, le ragazze bellissime, la discoteca dei bambini, le lucette al parcheggio per ogni singolo posto auto; quando si passava la sera davanti a quel tratto di lungomare si apriva un mondo straordinario! Per non citare poi le serate a bordo piscina, con tutti i principali cantanti e gruppi italiani, un’esperienza unica come i suoi spettacoli indimenticabili.
Anni in cui tutto sembrava possibile tanto che Alberto, imprenditore lucidissimo, qualche tempo dopo dal nulla aprirà altri stabilimenti e locali: il Rio sempre a Fregene, l’Antico Bottaro, Le Terrazze, il Miraggio a Trastevere e persino Il Miraggio a Londra.
Dopo queste esperienze di successo con questi altri locali, ormai la famiglia è tornato in pianta stabile da dove era partita: appunto a Fregene, dove ancora Alberto e Susanna, i figli Filippo, Fabrizio, Francesco, guidano con il vento in poppa il Miraggio Club, oltre al più recenti Blu e al Riva (oggi COH beach) nati da un’idea delle nuove generazioni. I tempi della discoteca sono finiti, ma il ristorante e lo stabilimento sono tornati a navigare come nei tempi migliori, complice il miglioramento del lungomare, strade e aiuole antistanti comprese, da parte del Comune di Fiumicino nonché la realizzazione della pista ciclabile grazie all'impegno della Pro-loco presieduta da Enrico Vanzina.
