Scheepvaartmuseum Mariekerke - Filmpjes Jan De prins
Mariekerke ,aan de oever van de Schelde, het vissersdorp bij uitstek, bezit een uniek scheepvaartmuseum. De talrijke bezienswaardigheden zijn schaalmodellen van schepen , oude voorwerpen , leef en woonaccommodatie van vissers, heemkunde en als pronkstuk een scheepsschaalmodel uit 1651, het grootste in Belgie . Mariekerke, on the banks of the Scheldt, the fishing village par excellence, has a unique shipping museum. The numerous sights are scale models of ships, old objects, living and living accommodation for fishermen, local history and as a showpiece a ship scale model from 1651, the largest in Belgium. There is also a café with a large garden terrace attached to this museum, where you can enjoy all that beauty.

Red Devils | Belgian Air Force Days
The Belgian Air Force Red Devils aerobatic team have a long proud history, starting out in 1957 flying the Hawker Hunter and from 1965 with the Fouga Magister. Budget restrictions saw he team disband in 1977. In 2011, at the occasion of the 65th anniversary of the Belgian air force, the team was reconstituted with 4 SIAI Marchetti SF-260s, elementary training aircraft built in Italy. These aircraft are based at Beauvechain and the pilots of the team are all instructors there, in addition to their duties on the team for which they volunteered. In 2014, team members are Senior Captain Paul Leys in the lead, Senior Captain Davy Vanhaeren, Senior Captain Corentin Leveau and finally Captain Steve Malburny as solo.
Just like their football counterparts, the Belgian air force Red Devils proudly represent Belgium at home and abroad.
De Rode Duivels van de Belgische luchtmacht kennen een lange, trotse geschiedenis, beginnend in 1957 op Hawker Hunter en vanaf 1965 op Fouga Magister. Om budgettaire redenen werd het team in 1977 ontbonden. Ter gelegenheid van de 65ste verjaardag van de Belgische luchtmacht in 2011 werd het team opnieuw opgericht, ditmaal met 4 SIAI Marchetti SF-260, toestellen die worden gebruikt voor de elementaire vliegopleiding op de luchtmachtbasis te Beauvechain, waar de teamleden allemaal vlieginstructeurs zijn bovenop hun taken bij het team, waar zij zich als vrijwilliger voor hebben opgegeven. Net als hun voetballende naamgenoten vertegenwoordigen de Rode Duivels van de Belgische luchtmacht ons land met trots in binnen en ver buiten onze landsgrenzen.

We visited the Chièvres Air Fest today and it was fantastic! There were tons of food stands, activities, demos, flights, live music, and more. Seriously one of the best Air Fests we've been to ever. This event doesn't happen every year, check in with Chievres Air Base or Benelux to see what they're up to each summer.

???? Beauty of Brussels, Dinant & S. Belgium ???? (2023/4K)
Family vacation trek from London to Brussels and Wallonia -- where we had lived from 1986 to 1989 while attached to the USAF. Entering Belgium via international train through France, we explored Brussel's famed Manneken Pis, Grand Place, St. Hubert Royal Galleries, Mont des Arts compound and the Parc de Bruxelles (with spunky fat cat statues by Philippe Geluck: Le Chat). Of course, we liberally consumed Belgian frites & waffles then plus Belgian beer & chocolates later. Resistance was futile.
Rural home turf was picturesque Dinant (pronounced: Dee-naugh) on the meandering Meuse River. Besides driving to visit our old flat and base, we walked across the saxophone-adorned Charles de Gaulle Bridge, went up into the historic citadels of Dinant and Namur (which featured underground tunnels) and down into alcoholic Caracole Brewery & Tavern of Falmignoul. Before flying out of Brussels South in North Charleroi, we also visited Mr. Sax's House and Givet, France. All possible because of the generosity of our gracious local host and hostess.
Adolphe Sax Tragedy Trivia: At the age of 3, he fell three floors down the stairs, landing at the bottom smacking his head roughly upon the stone floor. That same year he accidentally swallowed a large needle which miraculously passed right through his system without causing any injury. Not long after that he drank a bowl of what he thought was milk, but was actually diluted sulfuric acid, which didn’t kill him for some reason -- nor did another time he accidentally drank a concoction of white lead, copper oxide and arsenic. He also somehow avoided accidental poisoning and asphyxiation from sleeping in a room where varnished furniture was drying. He later fell on a hot stove, badly burning himself and, though escaping a potentially fatal skin infection, was scarred for life. Walking down the street a large slate tile fell off a nearby roof and hit him right on the head, knocking him out and putting him into a coma. After a few unconscious days in bed he awoke and declared, “I’m still alive mom!” At 10, in his father’s musical instrument workshop, a container of gunpowder suddenly exploded and blew him across the room. Soon after young Sax fell into a river, and not being able to swim it seemed that this was it for him, but he got caught on a windmill, which kept him from drifting further downstream. A farmer just happened to pass by finding the boy bobbing about face down in the water and pulling him out just in time. The boy cheated death so many times that he was nicknamed “Little Sax, the Ghost,” and “The Ghost-child from Dinant,” and his own mother would even say, “He is a child cursed by the devil with misfortune, he will not live.”

BELGIAN NATIONAL DAY SPECIAL BROADCAST
Today is the National Day of the Kingdom of Belgium. Due to the recent events, From Brussels to the sky has not broadcast a live programme in respect of the people who, as I speak, are still counting their human and material losses.
This evening You have the opportunity to see the air parade of the Belgian Air Force for the National Day 2021 as well as a military video of my visits to the different Belgian air bases.
The current death toll of the disaster is 33 and about 50 are still missing.
