Autostrada del Sole A1 | tratto: Roma - Firenze

L'autostrada A1 Milano-Napoli, chiamata anche Autostrada del Sole o più brevemente Autosole, è la più lunga autostrada italiana in esercizio. Asse meridiano principale della rete autostradale del Paese, collega Milano a Napoli passando per Bologna, Firenze e Roma per una lunghezza complessiva di 759,4 km, inaugurata il 4 ottobre 1964, sotto la Presidenza del Consiglio di Aldo Moro e interamente gestita da Autostrade per l'Italia.
L'autostrada del Sole è stata fortemente voluta dai governi degli anni cinquanta per contribuire al rilancio dell'economia nazionale.
Prima della sua definitiva costruzione, i mezzi commerciali impiegavano circa due giorni di viaggio per andare da Napoli a Milano. Costruire un'arteria a scorrimento veloce avrebbe quindi accorciato i tempi di collegamento e di conseguenza avrebbe abbassato i prezzi al consumo delle merci.
L'autostrada fu aperta in più fasi funzionali.
Per costruire l'intera autostrada furono necessari:
15 milioni complessivi di giornate lavorative;
52 milioni di metri cubi di terra scavata all'aperto;
1,8 milioni di metri cubi di terra scavata in galleria;
5 milioni di metri cubi di murature e calcestruzzo;
16 milioni di metri quadrati di pavimentazioni;
853 ponti, viadotti e opere simili;
2500 tombini;
572 cavalcavia;
35 gallerie su due carreggiate;
3 gallerie su una sola carreggiata.
Tratto Firenze-Roma:
Superata l'uscita di Firenze Sud, l'infrastruttura piega sul Valdarno (è in fase autorizzativa l'ampliamento alla terza corsia tra Firenze sud e Incisa)[24], tocca Arezzo e attraversa la Val di Chiana. All'altezza del casello di Val di Chiana, si collega con il raccordo per Perugia e con quello per Siena. Quindi scorre marginalmente in Umbria, e da Orvieto a Roma segue il corso del fiume Tevere, attraversandolo nove volte. A Orte, si innesta con la superstrada Terni-Viterbo, che, attraverso la superstrada Terni-Ravenna con cui forma la E45, consente di raggiungere Perugia e la Romagna. Superata Orte, l'autostrada si amplia a 3 corsie e si biforca nei pressi di Fiano Romano: una diramazione porta al Grande Raccordo Anulare, l'altra permette di evitare completamente la capitale per congiungersi alla Roma-Napoli a San Cesareo.
Tratto di Firenze:
Tratto a Guidonia della bretella Fiano Romano-San Cesareo
Dopo aver superato l'Appennino, l'autostrada contorna la città di Firenze, da cui si diramano la Firenze-Pisa nord, la Fi-Pi-Li e il raccordo per Siena. Nel 2011, sono finiti i lavori di ampliamento tra Calenzano e Firenze sud: il tratto verso Roma è totalmente a tre corsie, mentre quello in direzione nord, a causa della presenza di una serie di gallerie, coincide in parte con la vecchia tratta, con le quattro corsie suddivise in carreggiata interna ed esterna. Solo questa ultima permette di uscire a Firenze Impruneta.
Il 12 giugno 2017 è stato inaugurato il primo parcheggio scambiatore d'Italia realizzato completamente in sede autostradale. Può ospitare 25 autobus e 505 autovetture. All'uscita è posto il capolinea della linea T1 della Tramvia fiorentina, che permette di raggiungere Scandicci in pochi minuti ed il centro di Firenze in meno di mezz'ora. L'uscita è denominata Villa Costanza.

Sant'Ignatius is a baroque church, designed by Orazio Grassi. The most interesting feature are the ceiling frescoes by Andrea Pozzo. The Piazza della Minerva has an egyptian obelisk at the top of an elephant sculpted by Bernini. The church of Santa Maria sopra Minerva in gothic style has many works of art. The Basilica of Santi Apostoli (Holy Apostles) has a wide fresco at the nave vault and several fine rennaissance tombs.

Construction is underway on the Gronda highway in Genoa, Italy. The project, a 65-kilometer highway, cost 4.95 billion euros. The project will carry out maintenance work as well as safety upgrades and installation of sound barriers in Genoa, Milan and the highway sections between Bologna, Florence and Fiano Romano.
The project is managed by Italian road company Autostradeperl'Italia (ASPI). Construction of the link took 10 years to complete, largely due to the engineering challenges of navigating 25 tunnels. The work, first planned in 2002, will make major improvements to transport in the Liguria region of Italy.
