Tamworth Town Centre, Staffordshire UK Travel Guide/Walk

Tamworth hosts a simple but elevated 12th century castle, a well-preserved medieval church (the Church of St Editha) and a Moat House. Tamworth was the capital of the Anglo-Saxon Kingdom of Mercia.
In this video I walk around Tamworth town centre and I finish my walk near Anker river.
In the second part of my walking trip in Tamworth I go to visit medieval castle, I walk near both rivers and I went to Tameside Local Nature Reserve to see birds -

Currency

Britain’s currency is the pound sterling (£), which is divided into 100 pence (p).

Scotland has its own pound sterling notes. These represent the same value as an English note and can be used elsewhere in Britain. The Scottish £1 note is not accepted outside Scotland.

There are lots of bureaux de change in Britain – often located inside:

• banks
• travel agents
• Post Offices
• airports
• major train stations.

It's worth shopping around to get the best deal and remember to ask how much commission is charged.

Britain is officially metric, in line with the rest of Europe. However, imperial measures are still in use, especially for road distances, which are measured in miles. Imperial pints and gallons are 20 per cent larger than US measures.

1 foot = 30 centimetres
1 mile = 1.6 kilometres
1 ounce = 28 grams
1 pound = 454 grams
1 pint = 0.6 litres

Passport And Visas Requirements To Enter The UK

Please note: Following the recent referendum vote for the UK to leave the European Union (EU), there are currently no changes in the way people travel to Britain. The following guidelines still apply:

If you're planning an adventure to the UK, depending on your nationality and your reason for visiting, you may need to organise a visa.

If you're an American, Canadian or Australian tourist, you'll be able to travel visa-free throughout the UK, providing you have a valid passport and your reason for visiting meets the immigration rules (link is external).

Citizens from some South American and Caribbean countries as well as Japan are also able to travel visa-free around the UK.

European Union citizens, non-EU member states of the EEA (Norway, Liechtenstein and Iceland), Switzerland, and members of the Overseas Countries and Territories (OCT) do not need a visa to enter the UK.

If you have any further visa questions visit the official UK government website.
Anyone that has any questions, please feel free the comment below and I will answer them for you.

You can dial 999 to reach either the police, fire and ambulance departments.

#28 We find a Hidden Gem. Summer Cruise, Birmingham and Fazeley Canal

Hello and welcome to our Channel.

In this Vlog we carry on our Journey and with water shortages and my foot injury we decide to have a steady day and then we find a hidden Gem not far from the canal. In what appears to be in the middle of nowhere. Middleton Hall.

in the courtyard there are some lovely small businesses selling their products, and the guys from @split drinks made us very welcome and we got to taste some of their products. I found the hall and grounds incredibly interesting, plus we moored in a stunning spot.

I hope you enjoy

Birmingham & Fazeley Canal Fazeley Junction to Kingsbury Swivel Bridge

Please consider supporting this channel.

FAZELEY JUNCTION

Fazeley Junction is at the junction of the Coventry Canal (Main Line - Hawkesbury to Fazeley) with the Birmingham Canal Navigations (Birmingham and Fazeley Canal - Main Line) and the Birmingham Canal Navigations (Birmingham and Fazeley Canal - along route of Coventry Canal).

The turn onto the Birmingham and Fazeley wasn't quite the smooth round in one I would have hoped for but a quick touch of slow astern both avoided any bank nudging unpleasantness so not bad for a once a year steerer!

The skipper of our good friend nb Katie of AWAY4AWHILE hotel boats had an interesting technique for this turn. Halfway and leaving the boat in slow ahead, he leapt ashore holding his centre line and with a mighty heave ho hauled Katie's pointy end around the turn.

As we pulled onto the visitor moorings Katie's skipper waved us a fond farewell as he sailed off into the sunset.

With my bad back restricting movement we only managed a short explore of Tamworth's licensed offerings in the vicinity of the moorings. Sad to relate of the five pubs we saw one was closed and the others boarded up. And all this at 6 O'clock on a Tuesday evening. Worse than Bradford on a damp Bank Holiday Monday. I never thought I'd hear myself say this but Thank god for Tesco Express!

Timelapse Canals: Fazeley to Curdworth

Timelapse film of our cruise by narrowboat on the Birmingham and Fazeley Canal from Fazeley Junction to Curdworth, just beyond Curdworth Tunnel.

Fazeley Junction To Birmingham S2, EP7

I travel from Fazeley Junction to Birmingham along the Birmingham and Fazeley canal. I encounter the 11 locks at Curdworth, followed by the 3 locks at Minworth. I was lucky to ascend the Curdworth locks due to a damaged paddle. The CRT arrived to close the lock as I arrived, but held off for me to go through the lock. Thank you, CRT.
