ZION, BRYCE & ESCALANTE: BEST motorcycle roadtrip in UTAH and the USA!

Join a roadtrip to the majestic peaks of Zion Nationalpark and its roads less traveled, ride on Utah’s famous Scenic Byway 12 and visit the outerworldy landscapes of Bryce Canyon and the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument.

Highlights of this epsiode:
- From the town Hurricane we went to Virgin - and instead of following the the main road that crosses Zion National park, we took a left turn on Kolob Terrace Road, to approach the park from another less traveled direction, from the west. And we stayed at a very special place: Under Canvas.
- Under Canvas is probably one of the best glamping experiences you can get. You are in the middle of the amazing nature, but the tents have super comfortable beds, showers and toilets.
- The next morning we explored a lesser-traveled section of Zion: Kolob Terrace. The ride up to Lava Point offers exceptional views, from golden valleys to the majestic North and South Guardian Angels. Its said that Zion Canyon is the heart of Zion National Park, and Kolob Terrace is where its soul lies.
- Afterwards we took the the 6-mile Mt. Carmel Highway through the park. It is a nice but mostly crowded experience. The ride provides visitors easy access to viewpoints and hiking trailheads.
- We rode through Dixie National Forest
- One of the Highlights: we visited Bryce Canyon! Bryce Canyon appears as a forest of rocks - its most distinctive feature are so called hoodoos, tower-like natural geologic features
- We traveled on Utah’s Scenic Byway 12 through the town Escalante. Utah’s Scenic Byway 12 is the only main road, that enters the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument; The section between the small towns of Escalante and Boulder was completed in the 1930s - and is the most spectacular part of the ride on Utah’s Scenic Byway 12

OUR FIRST IMPRESSIONS OF SAN SALVADOR IN 2023 ???????? (this is the future...)

In this video, we take y'all to San Salvador, the capital of El Salvador! We start our El Salvador tour in the Historic Center (Centro Historico) to show you what this area San Salvador has to offer. We started in Plaza Libertad and made our way through la Iglesia del Rosiario, Palacio Real, Catedral Metropolitana de San Salvador, and the lively downtown streets. There were so many people walking around and enjoying the historic center. To our surprise, there were even little bands playing throughout the main square with a number of locals joining in for dancing! Such a fun experience. A little bit later in the afternoon we tried one of the most important foods in El Salvador: THE PUPUSA. We went to an amazing family owned pupusería near our airbnb and it was absolutely fantastic. Every bite was delicious and they were such hospitable and lovely people :) Gracias a La Pupusería Purrushka ❤️ ????????????????

LA LIBERTAD IS THE PLACE TO BE (surf city, sunset park, & mercado del pez)

In this video we check out one the start of SURF CITY, El Salvador: the city of La Libertad! This city was super surprising. It has everything from local markets, beautiful beaches and coastline, AND the only coastal theme park in Central America: SUNSET PARK! This is a super modern theme park that rivals some parks in the United States. The Sunset Park had everything from rollercoasters to ferris wheels. This place is definitely worth a trip during the Sunset ;)

EL SALVADOR is NOT What You Think. ???? ????????

El Salvador is NOT What you think it is. Most glaringly, they have a Democratically Elected Dictator who is implementing a ton of change... luckily it seems to be good change, though not without controversy. So the question is, should you travel to El Salvador with all this going on? (Was I crazy to go solo??)

El Salvador is a beautiful yet small country in Central America. I spent most of my time in San Salvador, the capital city. The Food is amazing, especially Pupusas which are the Salvadoran speciality, but they also have incredible Food in sit-down restaurants-- some of my favorite I've ever eaten.

You'll also experience the Rainbow Slide at the Picnic Steak House, a really beautiful church in the historic center of town called Iglesia El Rosario, and incredible views at Santa Anna Volcano, El Tunco Beach, La Puerta Del Diablo, and Boqueron National Park... When they're open and available to the public!

My hope with this video is that you can decide if visiting El Salvador, and specifically the capital of San Salvador, is right for you. There is a ton going on in El Salvador, and not everyone will want to travel to a country that is in development, but if you do travel to San Salvador, El Salvador... I have a feeling that you might like it.

Family Has Been Sailing Around The World Non-Stop For 9 Years

The Gifford family left their home in Washington in 2008 to sail around the world. They have not stopped since. We met up with them in the summer of 2016 in Noank, Connecticut to learn their story and to see how they all live on a 47-foot sailboat.

Hiking the Baldwin Hills Scenic Overlook AKA the Culver City Stairs

We Like L.A. helps you find the best things to do in Los Angeles! If you like the above hike you might also enjoy our hiking video where we go see the waterfall at Eaton Canyon:

* * * * *

In this video we hike the stairs at the Baldwin Hills Scenic Overlook, a fun little 58-acre park along Jefferson Blvd just southeast of Downtown Culver City.

The trail is located just south of Ballona Creek along Jefferson Blvd, and just west of La Cienega Blvd.

The major feature of the trail is a steep stairwell that shoots straight to the top of the hill. There are 282 steps to the top (so we're told) and the whole ascent is only about .15 miles. Combined with the surrounding switchback trail, it's about 1.25 miles total, which means some people like to do it more than once if they're looking for a morning workout burn.

One thing that disappointed us a bit was the limited hours of the Nature Center. We visited on a Wednesday and it said it was closed. According to the official park website (3/24/2017) the hours are:

Monday: 2pm-6pm
Tuesday: CLOSED
Wednesday: CLOSED
Thursday: CLOSED
Friday: 3pm-6pm
Saturday: 9:30am-6pm
Sunday: 9:30am-6pm

The park itself is open from 8 a.m. to sunset, but we found people already using the trail pre-8.a.m just because the sun had already come up that day.

In the summer time it'll look significantly less green than in the footage above, and the trail will be significantly more dusty, so that's something to bear in mind. The upside is that the views (on a clear day) will always be pretty stellar.

Ok, some links...

⭐ ABOUT STAR RATINGS:
We decide our ratings after reflecting on our trip as a whole, where we assess the value in relation to other places we went, always with an eye on cost. Here's the scale we use when grading our experiences:

⭐ Extremely disappointing/no one should ever go here
⭐⭐ Was below our expectations and we'd recommend skipping this.
⭐⭐⭐ An average experience. You could pass on this if you don't have time to visit.
⭐⭐⭐⭐ Met expectations and is recommended.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Exceeded our expectations and was a highlight of our trip. We use the 5 star rating sparingly on purpose to emphasize experiences that truly blow us away.

LFCD: SD40-2 7918 RUMBO ESCALON CHIHUAHUA

¡Saludos!

Regards! Visiting and knowing part of the line RD (CIUDAD FRONTERA, Coahuila - ESCALON, Chihuahua) which measures 210 miles (339 kilometers), this line is another one of the “rights of way”, of the railroad Short-lines Coahuila-Durango. On the PK-300 (mile: 186) we were presented with the train, with the south direction, coming from the company Quimicas El Rey, located 62 miles from this point, the freight of hoppers loaded with sulphate is from this company, the cargo-empty of gondolas goes to the city of Durango. The locality of Escalon (Line A PK-1299 [ Kilometric plate: 807 ] ), humble town in the limits of the states of Chihuahua and Durango, is where the relief of crew is made and then, authorization is requested to travel on the line A; 104 miles to the city of Torreon. Thanks for watching! See you next time!
