Cinematic Look & Review: Duiwelskloof Day Hike Trail At Banhoek

In this video we take a cinematic look, and review, the Duiwelskloof day hike trail

Duiwelskloof is a moderately difficult day hike trail located at the Banhoek Valley, outside Stellenbosch, Cape Town, South Africa.

The trail starts with beautiful open singletrack that leads up to the Banhoek valley contour. The start of the trails have a variety of fynbos, are home to a lot of deer, and even has insanely fun mountain bike flow trails.

After a while you will reach a beautiful small covered waterfall and hike through a gorge with even more stunning waterfalls. The gorge starts by being surrounded by trees and opens up to some rock scrambling and with views surrounded by mountains.

The gorge is surrounded by trees, and opens up to some rock scrambling with views surrounded by mountains

GPS doesn't work in the Gorge, and even then alltrails is incorrect in mapping and distance at time of recording, so if you always rely on these then make sure to go with someone who knows the trail, as the trail paths can be easy to miss.

The trail has a lot of rock scrambling, and is always about 3 degrees warmer than Stellenbosch. Make sure to carry at least 3 liters of water in summer.

The trail does continue after the large rock wall river, but as it leads into cape nature property we did not hike it on this day.

We will soon be doing guided hikes

Tweede Tol Bainskloof hike

There are a few hikes in the area and we ended up deciding to do Tweede Tol.

It is an extremely easy hike that takes you about 30 min to get to the water pools on Route 2. The route takes you on a scenic trip between the mountains as you approach the waterfalls. There after you can follow the Yellow feet along the river which makes for a much more exciting trial as well as beautiful views. The best part of course is if you are then getting too hot, just take off those shoes and jump into one of the pools.

Overall Rating of this Hike.

Difficulty: 4 /10
Route Markings: 10/10
Waterfalls and Pools: 6/10
Variety of Terrains: 7/10

Just know it is R50.00 to get in to do the hike. You will pay as you enter the Tweede Tol Gate.

There is also safe parking for your vehicles.

Enjoy, and Safe Travels.
