Sheffield is located in the south of Yorkshire, and this county is one the finest in England for being cold, rainy and damp. the south side is the scary part of Yorkshire, the east side of Yorkshire is one of the best, and west side is okay. The only thing good going for them is the peak district.

HOLTBY: York Parish #10 of 31
YORK PARISH #10: HOLTBY
Holtby, in the City of York, lies just off the A166, 5 miles north east of the city centre. The road follows the crest of a prominent ridge, part of the York Terminal Moraine.
Holtby was likely settled thanks it being on that high ground, which was once surrounded by wetlands. There has been a human settlement here for centuries, evidenced in many ways
There’s an Iron Age barrow in fields to the north which suggests pre-Roman inhabitants. The name is of Scandinavian origin – it literally means Coppice village. That tells us the Vikings were present here
In the Domesday Book its recorded as Boltbei. Farming used to be a major part of life in the village. It has around 50 houses, most of which have generous gardens, ranging from the traditional cottage style to expansive lawns.
Its not inaccurate to say that everywhere you look there’s greenery. Trees, hedges and natural verges soften the brickwork of the cottages here
I think the village is best summed up by a line in a document I found called the Holtby Village Design Statement, which was produced by the very people who live here. It simply says:
“We the people of Holtby think our village is a very special place. It’s a typical Yorkshire village, but it also has something unique about it”. After walking around this one, I find it hard to disagree with that

ASTON CUM AUGHTON: Rotherham Parish #31 of 31
Two months ago, a small YouTuber by the name of Andy finally decided to have a go at doing something crazy - visit all 10.449 civil parishes in England and record the whole thing on his GoPro - an idea which he first had back in August 2020, but one to which he never really gave any serious thought.
After finally gaining the confidence to at least try it, beginning the journey with Harthill with Woodall - a video which let's be fair, is not the greatest ever on the platform - that idea has a whole lot of encouragement from people in and around Rotherham.
Oh and Doncaster.
...and Worksop.
...and Barnsley
Oh and even in some places in West Yorkshire, Not to mention there's some encouragement on an international level because The Village Idiot has reaches New York and parts of Australia given some of the messages I've had! The point of all this is that whilst TVI might have started small, it's now grown into something beyond my wildest dreams already.
So I present you with the last instalment in the Rotherham series before I head off to other parts of the country, and this one is a good one to finish the borough with. There's any number of schools, two big parks, a huge library, churches, cracking views over the valleys around and a tenth tier football club that rather amusingly nicknames it's stadium after one of the most famous in the world.
It's taken just over two months, but here we are in the 31st and final parish in Rotherham Metropolitan Borough - ASTON CUM AUGHTON.

Today we come to a Doncaster village that is hidden away from the hustle and bustle of the world. Located away from all the local busy roads, this place has a certain charm that just isn't replicated anywhere else.
As you drive in, you cannot miss the imposing looking structure of it's once mighty Hall with it's turret like gatehouse. You also can't miss the wall that splits this village into a high part and a low part
Flanked everywhere with stone buildings, narrow streets and quaint little features. you would be forgiven for thinking this place doesn't belong in modern day South Yorkshire. In fact, when I first came here some years ago, I thought I was on the set of Emmerdale.

ROTHERHAM | Full tour of Rotherham Town Centre in South Yorkshire, England (Filmed in 4K)
A 4K walking tour through Rotherham England to see what's happening in the town, what is there, what has gone and what has changed here in Rotherham Town Centre.
Rotherham is a town in South Yorkshire in the North of England close to Sheffield and Doncaster.
Best known for coal mining and the steel industry, Rotherham is a minster town with around 250,000 people living in and around the area. We took a walk around Rotherham Town Centre to check out the place and show you around the streets here.
We start this walking tour on Westgate and head North past Main Street and down to Ship Hill and High Street. We take a left here onto Market Place and down into the heart of Rotherham Town Centre.
We come onto Rotherham Minster, All Saints Square, College Street and then onto High Street. The walk ends around Rotherham Bridge, Rotherham Train Station and the new development on the River Don
Rotherham town centre has various chain stores including Tesco Extra. Following the availability of Vitality Grants from 2009 onwards, a number of new independent businesses opened in the town centre such as Yella Brick Road
In 2015, Rotherham won the Great British High Street award for its independent town centre shopping. Judges praised the transformation of key properties and the restoration of its historic core
A plaque commemorating the award was unveiled by Secretary of State for Local Government & Committees Sajid Javid MP in September 2016.
As of 2021 the majority of the retail in Rotherham is made up of a thriving independent scene with lots of new start up businesses opening in the town centre.
Due to the close proximity of Sheffield City Centre, Meadowhall shopping centre and the towns Parkgate Retail Park Rotherham has struggled to attract major brands. This has created the opportunity for Rotherham to proposition itself as an independent alternative.
Rotherham is the hometown of the Chuckle Brothers, Arsenal and England goalkeeper David Seaman along with World Cup and English Premier League referee Howard Webb.
Sean Bean began his acting career in Rotherham while actors Liz White, Ryan Sampson, Dean Andrews and Darrell D'Silva also hail from Rotherham, as does former leader of the Conservative Party, William Hague, and Sir Donald Coleman Bailey.
Presenter James May grew up in Rotherham. His co-presenter on Top Gear Jeremy Clarkson trained to be a journalist at the Rotherham Advertiser.
Comedians Sandy Powell and Duggie Brown were born in Rotherham, as was actress Lynne Perrie. Christopher Wolstenholme of Muse, DJ Kritikal Mass, Dean Andrews of Life On Mars, artist Margaret Clarkson, band Jive Bunny & The Mastermixers and singer-actor Rob McVeigh were all born or mostly raised in Rotherham.

WENTWORTH: Rotherham Parish #29 of 31
Normally content wise, I have a pretty good idea of what I want to include in every video before i even visit the parish in question. Even though I have said before I go to them all with little to no information, I do still know a few landmarks that I want to capture in most cases. For today's parish though, that was a little difficult to do.
Not through a lack of things there, but rather through there being far too many for me to pick from! I can almost guarantee that I will have missed something big out from this one, because there is far too much here to squeeze into a video, or at least a video under 30 minutes long, which is what I aim for.
So what is here? Well, the biggest landmark is a massive mansion, set in 87 acres of beautiful parkland, and that's parkland which is open to the public, so expect to see plenty of those things in this video. There are two churches, one old and one new, but both bearing the same name. There's also two pubs, one of which is hotel as well, and don't even get me started on the village's garden centre and family farm. There are tourists aplenty in this place and for good reasons.
The abandoned Lady Mabel College is an interesting feature too, as is the small manufacturing hamlet which still has a fully operational blacksmiths. The Village Shop, the unique Post Office and Wingham Wool Works are all to see as well and we haven't even left the MAIN village...there are two others in this parish too, including one with a notorious stretch of road. The fact this video is less than that 30 minute threshold is a minor miracle. I hope you enjoy watching this one as much as I did making it.
This is the village that the borough of Rotherham likes to show off more than any other. Welcome to WENTWORTH.
