#6.Wander the Old Harbour and Marine Museums
For a little maritime adventure, head over to the Old Harbor (Oude Haven).
Filled with restored historic boats, gorgeous walkways and a heap of restaurants, it's the best place to visit for a little relaxation and a little tipple. Pop into Apartt which has the meanest stone-cooked steaks, ever.
They're delicious. Don't fret, though, if you're a veggie they've got a gorge-worthy fondue that will induce cheese hallucinations.
After all that gorging, head over to the Maritime Museum Rotterdam, too. It's the perfect place to better understand the history of this area, the city's waterways and its connection to the sea.
Also check out the Harbor Museum, which is an open-air home to the 19th-century Buffel ship. It's one of the best things to do in Rotterdam if you love checking out the history of a place. That being said, you may wanna give it a miss if you're not into a big ole history lesson.
Plus, no maritime adventure in Rotterdam is complete without visiting the SS Rotterdam, too!
#5 Scroll through Delfshaven
Unlike much of Rotterdam, the district of Delfshaven actually survived the destruction by World War II. This all means that it almost feels like you've stepped back in time to an older version of Rotterdam that's so different from the shiny new areas. It's a pretty easy tram ride to visit Delfshaven (from any part of the city) and the city feels really easy to navigate so you'll easily find it. After strolling the neighbourhood, make sure to visit the Old Church in Delfshaven. This was the point where pilgrims held the last service before sailing for the New World across the Atlantic

# 4.Experience the Fenix Food Factory
Look, there's no hiding that any holiday to Rotterdam should include a few indulgent spots to eat and drink. For me, Fenix Food Factory is that place.
Filled with stalls serving everything from local cheese boards, BBQ and cakes, it's one of the best things to do in Rotterdam if you're feeling peckish.
Once you're here, check out the Kaapse Brouwers micro-brewery, cheese from Booij Kaasmakers, meat from the Firma Bijten, and the best cakes from Jordy's Bakery. Yes, you will be stuffed but it's totally worth it.
# 4.Find Grote of Sint-Laurenskerk
The Grote of Sint-Laurenskerk is considered to be one of the only standing medieval buildings in all of Rotterdam and a place not to miss.
Built between 1149 and 1525, the church is incredible to wander around. With its bronze doors, beautiful interiors and stained glass, it's one of the best things to do in Rotterdam if you love history.
Don't forget to spot some of its most famous residents too… the three huge organs!
# 2. Wander through Witte de Withstraat
People seem to either love or hate Witte de Withstraat (a street in the centre of Rotterdam). In lots of ways, Witte de Withstraat is a little like a mini-Shoreditch (in London) or Williamsburg (in NYC), if that makes sense.
It kinda has a hipster vibe and totally cool little cafes, bars and a few night spots too.
That being said, I've heard people describe it as a bit 'try too hard' now and it no longer has the same vibe it once had. Whatever the case, it's worthwhile for you to make up your own mind and see it for yourself.

Rotterdam is a world port city, and you cannot miss its Maritime Museum established in 1986. It contains many attractions including a lighthouse and many old vessels such as this 228 meter long SS Rotterdam - former flagship of the Holland-America Line.
This fascinating structure is the Market Hall which consists of offices, apartments, a supermarket and around 100 food shops.
One of Rotterdam’s most striking structures is a set of cube houses completed in 1984. The houses consist of 3 floors, they have a living are of 100 square meters, and all the walls are slanted. One of the houses is open to visitors to check on the interior.

Rotterdam Harbor - Top Places to Visit
New Amsterdam Travel Video- We like taking you to other places in The Netherlands outside of Amsterdam. Rotterdam is a world-class city with so much to see and do. So much so, we had to limit this episode to just the harbor areas of the city. Luckily our hosts, Rich from Holland Photography Tours lives there and Sander was born there. So they are the perfect guides for a great day. Delfshaven still has Old World charm that contrasts most of the city's modern, sleek architecture. This quaint harbor is known as the starting point for the Pilgrim Fathers making their way to America. Leuvehaven is home to the Maritime Museum with different kinds of ships moored outside for you to discover and explore. Katendrecht is a hip, renovated area centered around the Fenix Food Factory. Hotel New York will take you back to the early 1900s when the Holland America Line shipped immigrants to the New World. Everything is easy to get to with an efficient tram and metro system and the speedy water taxis will give you a thrilling ride. We're already planning our next Rotterdam visit and episode!

Exploring Rotterdam the Netherlands with kids ⎮ Markthal, Cube houses, museums, Delfshaven, Blijdorp
We took the flixbus from Antwerp to Rotterdam for a Girls only weekend. We walked to the yellow bridge, Blaak market, the Markthal, the cube houses, we explored museums, the Delfshaven, Blijdorp and the shopping center! We had a great time with the four of us and could have stayed longer then 2 days!

Delfshaven ???????? Rotterdam city of Netherlands 8K ????????
Delfshaven is a beautiful historic area in Rotterdam. It was a separate town until 1886.
The town of Delfshaven grew around the port of the city of Delft. Delft itself was not located on a major river, so in 1389 a harbour was created about 10 km (6 mi) due south of the city, to be able to receive seafaring vessels and avoid tolls being levied by the neighbouring and competing city of Rotterdam.
Fishing, shipbuilding and the distillery of jenever were the main sources of income. The Dutch East India Company had important wharves and warehouses in Delfshaven. the Dutch West India Company's commander, Piet Hein, was born here. Delfshaven escaped the bombing of Rotterdam by the Luftwaffe on 14 May 1940. Later during the Second World War, the area around the Visserijplein and other parts of the western city of Rotterdam were destroyed by Allied bombing on 31 March 1943.
