Stirling: A historically and strategically important city in Scotland, and the site of two major battles during the first War of Scottish Independence: Stirling Bridge (1297); and Bannockburn (1314). The two video images show the Wallace Monument with a Scottish flag, aka The Saltire, and Stirling Castle, at one time a royal residence.
9). Outer Hebrides: Also known as the Western Isles, they comprise 15 inhabited islands and over 50 mainly uninhabited islands. The largest island is Lewis & Harris with a population of over 21,000 and home to the largest town, Stornoway. The video images show the famous Callanish Stones on Lewis and the spectacular Luskentyre Beach on Harris.
8). Inner Hebrides: An archipelago off the west coast of Scotland comprising 44 uninhabited and 35 inhabited islands including: Skye; Mull; lslay; Mull; and Iona. The video images show a night view of The Bowmore Whisky Distillery on Islay, and Iona Abbey on the island of Iona, close to the Isle of Mull.
7). Loch Lomond: The largest loch in Scotland, with many islands, is a popular leisure destination for boating, water sports, and angling. The loch is featured in the song “The Bonnie Banks o' Loch Lomond” made famous by Scottish Celtic rock band Runrig. The video images show the paddle steamer, Maid of the Loch, and a view of Loch Lomond islands from the West Highland Way as it passes over Conic Hill.
6). Glencoe: An iconic Scottish Glen and site of the infamous Glencoe Massacre in 1692. The two images show the Glen looking North West, and Blackrock Cottage with the distinctive Buachaille Etive Mòr (Big Etive Shepherd) as a backdrop. Glencoe was featured in the 2012 James Bond Movie Skyfall and is home to the Aonach Eagach (Notched Ridge) a narrow ridge on the north side of the glen.
5). Loch Ness: The largest body of water in the UK and best known for alleged sightings of the Loch Ness Monster, popularly known as “Nessie”. The two video images show a view of the Loch and Urquhart Castle and the River Ness at the City of Inverness. The castle is one of the most visited in Scotland, possibly because of “Nessie”. Inverness is known as the Capital of the Highlands and sits on the large River Ness which flows from Loch Ness into the Beauly Firth.
4). Isle of Skye: A magical island full of spectacular mountains, rivers, land and seascapes. The two sites featured here are The Old Man of Storr and The Fairy Pools. The former featured at the start of the Sci-Fi movie Prometheus, and the latter has attracted recent publicity due to unprecedented visitor numbers.
3). Scottish Highlands: Home to spectacular natural mountains, rivers, glens, and many manmade edifices such as Eilean Donan Castle and the Glenfinnan Viaduct. These iconic structures have both featured in several movies: Eilean Donan in Highlander (1986) as the home of Clan MacLeod; and Glenfinnan Viaduct features in four of the Harry Potter films as the Hogwarts Express trundles over its spans.
2). Glasgow: The largest city in Scotland and a historically major centre of shipbuilding and heavy engineering, so much so that Glasgow was referred to as the Second City of the British Empire. Despite the demise of these traditional industries Glasgow still has the largest economy in Scotland. The city is also home to some famous attractions including the couple in the video: Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum; and The Waverley, the only seagoing passenger-carrying paddle steamer in the world.

The parade is led by Drum Major Ian Esson and the bands were Ballater & District Pipe Band, Towie Pipe Band, Ellon & District RBL Pipe Band, Kintore Pipe Band and Dalhousie Pipe Band from Switzerland. I hope that one day you and I can visit this beautiful city.
Edinburgh has undergone massive changes over the years,
some wholly positive, others less so.
Many of the transformations inflicted the city have resulted
in the loss of beautiful buildings,
ranging from the historically valuable
to the architecturally significant.
The post-war era of the 20th century witnessed a marked increase
in the number of Georgian and Victorian structures being demolished,
as the Capital looked boldly towards the future.
However, not all of these modern developments were welcomed
and many were fiercely opposed.
We take a look at 12 examples of lost Edinburgh buildings
that we wish were still standing today.

Banchory Scotland Walking Tour 4K, Dec 2022 - Banchory on Deeside is in Aberdeenshire. It is about 18 miles (29 km) west of Aberdeen, near where the Feugh River meets the River Dee. It was an early Christian settlement. A tourist resort in the 19th century Banchory is now an important commuter settlement. It has local industries including food processing and building and timber industries. It acts as a service centre for the surrounding agricultural area. The video was recorded on 16th of Dec 2022.

The hotel is located in Braemar's historic Scottish village amidst the majestic landscape of the Cairngorms National Park. A Braemar Landmark. Built in the 19th century, The Fife Arms Hotel is a Braemar landmark and is a category B listed building. Its size is evidence of Braemar's popularity in the wake of Queen Victoria's visits and her purchase of Balmoral. Architect, Alexander Marshall Mackenzie. The hotel plans by Alexander Marshall Mackenzie, who remodeled the original building, are held by the National Archive of Scotland. Mackenzie was an architect of national repute whose fame grew after royal patronage. He was responsible for the design of Crathie Kirk in 1893 and was subsequently chosen by the Duke and Duchess of Fife for the new Mar Lodge in 1895. Mackenzie was also the Architect for two prestigious projects in central London, the Waldorf Astoria Hotel and Australia House.

As co-founders of the acclaimed global gallery, Hauser & Wirth, Iwan, and Manuela Wirth have passionately dedicated themselves to modern and contemporary art for many years. More than 14,000 pieces, including antiques and specially commissioned artworks, have been thoughtfully integrated into every room, corridor, and corner. Special Commissions. Surrounded by the glorious countryside Ballater is a picturesque Victorian village in the heart of Royal Deeside located in the Cairngorm National Park.
Lying eight miles along the River Dee to the west, its rich history and royal connections are world famous. Ballater is the nearest town to Balmoral Castle, one of the residences of the Royal Family, which explains the many ‘By Royal Appointment’ signs can be seen on local shops and business. Close by is also Royal Lochnagar Distillery which produces one of Scotland’s most exclusive whiskies. A visit to the distillery is a timeless experience.

Summer Balmoral Castle On Visit To Royal Deeside Aberdeenshire Scotland
Tour Scotland Summer travel video, with Scottish music, of Balmoral Castle on visit to Royal Deeside, Aberdeenshire. King Robert II of Scotland, 1316 to 1390, had a hunting lodge in the area. A house at Balmoral was built by Sir William Drummond in 1390. The castle has been the Scottish home of the Royal Family since it was purchased for Queen Victoria by Prince Albert in 1852, having been first leased in 1848. In 1887, Balmoral Castle was the birthplace of Victoria Eugenie, a granddaughter of Queen Victoria. She was born to Princess Beatrice, the fifth daughter of Victoria and Albert. Victoria Eugenie would become the queen of Spain. In September 1896, Victoria welcomed Emperor Nicholas II of Russia and Empress Alexandra to Balmoral. Four years later Victoria made her last visit to the estate, three months before her death on 22 January 1901.
