10 Best Seaside Towns in the UK

What are the best seaside towns in the United Kingdom? New towns are developing at the seaside across the UK in addition to those ancient towns and cities. All of these towns and cities are worming their way into the hearts of tourists from home and abroad. With due respect to these towns, and out of a deep sense of duty, we want to identify which of these towns are the best so that we can help the decision-making process for those having reasons to consider seaside towns. On the basis of that, we present to you the 10 best seaside towns in the UK.
Please note that most of these best towns in the UK have at one time or the other been the best in England.
10. Swanage, Dorset, England
The tenth place we’ll consider as one the best seaside towns in the UK is Swanage in South West of England. The town has been a popular seaside resort since Victorian times. Up till now, families have continued to enjoy its calm shallow beach. This seaside is also one of the 10 best seaside resorts in the UK.
With its panoramic views, the seaside resort offers relaxing luxurious holidays in self-catering accommodation in caravans and luxury hot tub lodges. If you want to own a holiday home, they’re available here with unrivaled views across the bay. The town is about one kilometer from the leisurely beautiful Swanage Railway. Its proximity to this and other parks, beaches, and castles makes it a good choice.
9. St Davids, Pembrokeshire, Wales
Stepping out of England, we find a small city and community in Pembrokeshire known as St Davids. It is the smallest location in the whole of the United Kingdom with city status. With its stunning coastal scenery unmatched in Pembrokeshire, it’s also the smallest urban area by local authority boundary.
One of the reasons for its inclusion on this list is its ability to blend its sacred status with its National Park. St Davids has a relaxed and vibrant atmosphere as you see surf shops, outdoor adventure centers, holiday cottages, and hotels in the shadow of its cathedral.
8. Southwold, England
When this town was found in the ninth position on the list of the most popular seaside destinations, we knew that it would be among the 10 best seaside towns in the UK. Now, it is the number 8 on this list. All year round, Southwold remains a tourist attraction, thanks to its dramatic coastline and beautiful architecture. Its cozy pub lunches and walks along its beach are charming.
As you walk along its pier, you will see spectacular views as you check in and out of many independent shops. You would love the charming seaside resort of Southwold. Though it’s almost an island, its sandy beach and hut-lined promenade offer a wonderful environment for holidaymakers and weekenders.
7. Filey, North Yorkshire, England
Ironically to some, Filey which is a town in the Borough of Scarborough considered unpopular by some people is one of the 10 best seaside towns in the UK. Truly, this beautiful seaside destination in North Yorkshire deserves a slot here as one of the most popular in the UK. It used to be a fishing village before developing into a popular resort with a very large beach that is playing a remarkable role in popularizing it.
It is quieter than most of its neighbors and most of the other coastal towns. This is because it has enough accommodations, seats, and transportation. There is no need for any rush here. You can just go there and enjoy your peace.

10 Britains Most Expensive Seaside Towns For Home Buyers

What are Britain’s most expensive seaside towns for homebuyers?
If you enjoyed your stay at a seaside resort the last time you visited, you’d love to make the place your home. This is because life besides water is always attractive. The good news is that you can always get home by the seaside. In the last year, the housing market has experienced significantly dramatic changes, but even then, Brit’s love for the seaside hasn’t changed. There’s still much love for the coastal way of life and picturesque scenery. There are plenty of homes being put up for sale at the seaside. Here we’ve taken it upon ourselves to research the prices of homes in the UK. Here are the 10 Britain’s most expensive seaside towns for homebuyers.

10. Fowey, Cornwall, England
Fowey, a port town and civil parish located at the mouth of the River Fowey in south Cornwall in England is our starting point. The local church which was first established sometime in the 7th century and the estuary of the River Fowey which forms a natural harbor combine to give this seaside town its status as an important trading center. This invariably affects the prices of homes in the resort.
The average house price as of the end of 2021 is £488,083. In fact, it is one of the seaside towns with the biggest annual house price increases in the United Kingdom. The house price was 22 percent cheaper in 2020 with a price of £400,873.
9. East Wittering, West Sussex, England
Let’s check a coastal village in the South East. We’re referring to East Wittering, a town in the Chichester district of West Sussex. This village on the B2179 road 11 kilometers southwest of Chichester on the Manhood Peninsula is the ninth on our list.
The average house price in 2021 in East Wittering which is the latest data available to us is £494,025. Meanwhile, in the last 10 years, it has sustained an annual increase in house prices. That’s why East Wittering is found among the seaside towns with the biggest house price increases over the last decade in the UK. While the house price as of 2011 was £291,543, it has increased by some 69 percent in 2021.
8. St Mawes, Cornwall, England
Another town in South West on this list of the 10 Britain’s most expensive seaside towns for homebuyers is St Mawes opposite Falmouth on the Roseland Peninsula on the south coast of Cornwall. This immense natural harbor is often claimed to be the third-largest in the world. The accommodation cost had been on the high side here since it was a busy fishing port.
Since that trade declined during the 20th century, the town has become a popular tourist location. While the town has many properties functioning as holiday accommodations, to buy a home there now, you must have an average of £501,638. Also, between 2020 and 2021, the average price of homes experienced a 48 percent increase from £339,912.
7. Dartmouth, Devon, England
Dartmouth in Devon England. Dartmouth, a tourist destination, home to one of the world's greatest academic institutions, and a civil parish can’t be missing on a list like these. We recognize this town also in the South West as one of the 10 best seaside resorts in the UK, one of the 10 most popular seaside destinations in the UK, the best of the 10 best seaside towns in the UK, and the very best seaside towns in England.
All that, however, doesn’t come without a price. Home prices in such a town aren’t expected to be cheap. The current home price in Dartmouth is £523,182. Dartmouth records a 30 percent increase in the house price in the last year.
6. Wadebridge, Cornwall, England
Let’s go to Cornwall in the South West again to find sixth Britain’s most expensive seaside town for homebuyers, which is Wadebridge. This is a town and civil parish that town straddles the River Camel 8 kilometers upstream from Padstow, also on this list.
Originally known as Wade, this town used to be a dangerous fording point before the construction of the bridge in the 15th century and its latest widening and refurbishing in 1991. This and other factors increase the value of properties here to an average of £536,760.

1 DAY IN DARTMOUTH | DEVON TRAVEL GUIDE

Spend 1 day in Dartmouth with us during our Devon vacation. I loved how picturesque Dartmouth is. The colourful houses are sprinkled all alongside the coast, giving it a cookie box look. Europeans could probably regard Dartmouth as the Positano of England, although this place is a fairytale land in its own right and does not need comparison. If you are here, make sure you try the clotted cream ice cream and some of the local gins. We enjoyed going to the market which is only held on Tuesdays and Thursdays, we enjoyed visiting the castle and the views you get from the castle, and we enjoyed getting to Devon via the @GWRUK steam train.
What is the most picturesque town you visited?

Walk in Dartmouth | Devon - United Kingdom | June 2023

Filmed on the 30th of May 2023

Wikipedia:
Dartmouth (/ˈdɑːrtməθ/) is a town and civil parish in the English county of Devon. It is a tourist destination set on the western bank of the estuary of the River Dart, which is a long narrow tidal ria that runs inland as far as Totnes. It lies within the South Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and South Hams district, and had a population of 5,512 in 2001,[1] reducing to 5,064 at the 2011 census.[2] There are two electoral wards in the Dartmouth area (Townstal & Kingswear). Their combined population at the above census was 6,822.

The Port of Dartmouth Royal Regatta takes place annually over three days at the end of August. The event sees the traditional regatta boat races along with markets, fun fairs, community games, musical performances, air displays including the Red Arrows and fireworks. A Royal Navy guard ship is often present at the event. Other cultural events include beer festivals in February and July (the latter in Kingswear), a music festival and an art and craft weekend in June, a food festival in October and a Christmas candlelit event.

The Flavel Centre incorporates the public library and performance spaces, featuring films, live music and comedy and exhibitions.

Bayard's Cove has been used in several television productions, including The Onedin Line a popular BBC television drama series that ran from 1971 to 1980. Many of the scenes from the BBC's popular series Down to Earth, starring Ricky Tomlinson, were filmed at various locations around the town.

Notable tourist attractions include the Dartmouth Royal Naval College, Bayard's Cove Fort, Dartmouth Castle and the Dartmouth Steam Railway which terminates at Kingswear on the opposite bank of the river.

Boat cruises to nearby places along the coast (such as Torbay and Start Bay) and up the river (to Totnes, Dittisham and the Greenway Estate) are provided by several companies. The paddlesteamer PS Kingswear Castle returned to the town in 2013.[38] The South West Coast Path National Trail passes through the town, and also through extensive National Trust coastal properties at Little Dartmouth and Brownstone (Kingswear). The Dart Valley Trail starts in Dartmouth, with routes either side of the River Dart as far as Dittisham, and continuing to Totnes via Cornworthy, Tuckenhay and Ashprington. The area has long been well regarded for yachting, and there are extensive marinas at Sandquay, Kingswear and Noss (approximately one mile north of Kingswear).
