The WORST Place to Live in the UK? | BARNSLEY

Is this the worst place to live in the UK? In today's tour, we visit Barnsley. Barnsley was named one of the worst places to live in England in 2022. My intention isn't to offend anyone who is living in Barnsley, I wanted to see for myself why this town is considered to be one of the worst places to live in England and form my own opinion.

Driving Around Barnsley in snow and icy weather in 4K

Today January 2nd, 2021 Saturday, it was Sunny in the morning. Suddenly at about 1:30 PM, it started snowing heavily. I took this opportunity to drive around Barnsley in snow and icy weather. It was not too bad to drive on the main street but very slippery in small roads.

After driving for about 10 minutes, snow falls heavily and my camera was covered with snow and I could not see through.

I hope that you all enjoy my channel. Please, rest assured that I read all of your comments, therefore please, comment and leave your feedback, as it indeed helps me to understand what you like the most and what I can do better!

Chasewater Railway | Drone Shots & Uncut Timelapse of an Isolated Heritage Railway

A visit to Chasewater Railway organised by Rail Society of University of Birmingham.

#trains #thetrainguy #britishrail

On the 2nd of April 2022, the RailSoc organised a visit to the Chasewater Railway with the members of the club getting to drive the Class 142 Pacer up and down the route.

Videos were taken by multiple members of the Rail Society. I have put together this video using the various shots shared.

The Chasewater Railway is a former colliery railway running round the shores of Chasewater in Staffordshire, England. It is now operated as a heritage railway.

The line is approximately 2 miles (3.2 km) in length, contained entirely within Chasewater Country Park. The route, which forms a horse-shoe shape around the lake, passes through heathland, including a Site of Special Scientific Interest, and passes over a 1⁄4-mile (0.40 km) long causeway.

Prior to preservation, the line was part of the network operated by the NCB to serve the coalfields of the Cannock Chase area. The exchange sidings, where the colliery line connected with the Midland Railway, were situated about 1⁄4 mile (0.40 km) north of the current Brownhills West Station.

Significant changes happened in 2002/2003 caused by the closure of the old Brownhills station, due to the building of the M6 Toll motorway. This led to the rebuilding of Brownhills West with significantly improved facilities, including a new carriage shed and heritage centre, and completion of the Chasetown section of the line (the 'Chasetown Extension Railway' between Chasewater Heaths and Chasetown Church Street).

In 2016 the Railway was awarded The Queens Award for Voluntary Services.

Volunteers are working to establish a 2 ft (610 mm) gauge narrow gauge railway close to the heritage centre.

Barnsley Town Hall, South Yorkshire, England - 12th June, 2014

This film features views outside and inside Barnsley Town Hall. It begins with views of the steel sculpture called 'Crossing (Vertical)' by Nigel Hall, which has been loaned by Yorkshire Sculpture Park (YSP) for community gardens outside of the Town Hall. The sculpture is 33 ft (10m) high and is made of steel that 'weathers' to form a rust-like patina when exposed to the air.

The footage also features the fountains outside of the Town Hall which are in full flow in the Spring sunshine.

The film is then inside the Town Hall and features views of the Experience Barnsley Museum, and the second and first floors of the town hall including the displayed art works and Barnsley related memorabilia.

The internal architecture of the Town Hall is also featured. The film ends outside of the Town Hall with views of the Town Hall tower and the War Memorial.

Review: The Copthorne Hotel, Birmingham, England - July 2014

I recently stayed at The Copthorne Hotel, just outside of Birmingham City Centre's Paradise Forum and close to the Jewellery Quarter. I enjoyed my stay at this hotel, it was comfortable, although for such a high profile hotel in the City it was a little dated in terms of decor. It needs modernising, and the rooms need to have air conditioning, at present they have rotating fans. With that said I did enjoy my stay here, although for the price may explore other options in future. The breakfast buffet was excellent and the staff friendly and attentive.

This review includes external shots of the hotel, a detailed bedroom review, the lift, reception area, bar, restaurant and breakfast buffet.

The Library of Birmingham, England - 3rd July, 2014

The Library of Birmingham is a public library in Birmingham, England. It is situated on the west side of the city centre at Centenary Square, beside the Birmingham Rep (to which it connects, and with which it shares some facilities) and Baskerville House. Upon opening on 3 September 2013, it replaced Birmingham Central Library. The library, which is estimated to have cost £188.8 million, is viewed by the Birmingham City Council as a flagship project for the city's redevelopment. It has been described as the largest public library in the United Kingdom, the largest public cultural space in Europe, and the largest regional library in Europe.

This film features external views of the building and its postmodern high-tech architecture, as well as internal views of the book stock, escalators, walkways, lifts, and facilities. It also features views within the Shakespeare Room. The Library has open roof terraces on two of the levels, and an expensive portion of this film is dedicated to views from these over the Birmingham and wider West Midlands landscapes. This is an excellent attraction to visit, and I thoroughly recommend it.

Eyam Parish Church

Christian worship has taken place in Eyam for over 1000 years! Our first recorded Rector began his ministry in 1250 and our Church dates from Saxon times. St Lawrence has huge amounts of history and played a key role in the 1665 - 66 plague when the villagers cut themselves off to prevent the spread of the disease.

Barnsley Town Centre - 23rd January, 2011

The South Yorkshire town of Barnsley is notable as a former industrial town centred on coal mining and glassmaking although in the town a few factories remain notably the glassworks and coking plant. Though these industries declined in the 20th century, Barnsley's local culture remains rooted in this industrial heritage; Barnsley has a tradition of brass bands, originally created as social clubs for its mining communities. This video features views from a walk around Barnsley town centre, on a cold January Sunday afternoon. Views include Barnsley Town Hall, Market Hill, the Arcade, Peel Square, Queen Street, May Day Green, Cheapside, New Street, Sheffield Road, Harborough Hill Road, views from the roof of the Alhambra shopping centre, Albert Street, Wellington Street, Market Street, West Way, the demolished supermarket, Townend Roundabout, Premier Inn, Peel Street, Shambles Street, The Lamproom Theatre, Sackville Street, Gateway Plaza, The Glasshouse, Barnsley Magistrates Court and Westgate Street. The video features the urban landscape including the architecture and urban regeneration.
