Sibiu is located right in the heart of Transylvania and home to so many amazing things to do, so in this video I'll give you my Top 10 Things To Do in Sibiu! We begin in the Historical Centre to explore the cathedral, the craft towers, and the most beautiful street in Sibiu. after this we head to my personal highlight of Sibiu, The ASTRA Museum. This museum showcases historical Transylvanian village life with real buildings that have been transported here from all over Romania. It is also the largest open air museum in Europe! To finish I will show you some of the best locations outside of Sibiu's Historical Centre, including the hidden gem of the Steam Engine Museum!

I went with two friends to discover new places in Romania. We stayed at the Dorul Pescarului guesthouse, which has a fishing lake and a campsite for up to 8 motorhomes.
The location is in Vâlsănești, 17 km from Curtea de Argeș, on the banks of the river Vâlsan, where the prehistoric fish aspretele is found.
After settling in, we went to discover the surroundings: Robaia Monastery, the spring of healing, the Puturosul spring, the Vâlsan gorges, Slănic Monastery, the blue house of Jgheaburi, the monastery of Corbii de Piatră.
It was an interesting tour, we saw new places, we met the bear on the Transfagarasan.

Am fost cu doi prieteni să descoperim locuri noi prin România. Ne-am cazat la Pensiunea Dorul Pescarului, care pe lângă un lac de pescuit are și un camping cu o capacitate de opt locuri penntru rulote și autorulote.
Locația se află în localitatea Vâlsănești, la 17 km de Curtea de Argeș, pe malul râului Vâlsan, unde se găsește peștele preistoric aspretele.
După acomodare, am fost să descoperim împrejurimile: Mănăstirea Robaia, Izvorul Tămăduirii, Izvorul Puturosul, Cheile Vâlsanului, Mănăstirea Slănic, Casa albastră din Jgheaburi, Mănăstirea Corbii de Piatră.
A fost o tură interesantă, am văzut locuri noi, ne-am întâlnit cu ursul pe Transfăgărășan.

This was my summer July trip to Romania. I decided to visit Romania in the summer because the weather is nicer and Romania is suitable for hiking in the mountains in the summer. Romania's Fagaras mountains are amazing, but quite challenging and dangerous in bad weather. Fortunately, I had beautiful weather all the time in Romania, even in the mountains. I managed to hike the part of the Fagaras mountains with the hike to the highest mountain Varful Moldoveanu 2544 m.
In the next part of my trip through Romania, I visited the cities of Sibiu, Brasov, Fagaras, Iasi and the capital Bucharest. All Romanian cities have something in intresting, and the city of Sibiu was particularly beautiful. I traveled mainly by train for part of the trip and sometimes I even had to hitchhike. In Romania, hitchhike is relatively easy, and thanks to that I saw, for example, the Vidraru Dam or the Arges Monastery. I got to Bran Castle from Brasov by bus and in the same day I visited Peles Castle by train. All intresting places are relatively accessible by bus or train, you just need to plan everything in advance. There are not many connections in Romania.
Toto byl můj letní výlet do Rumunska během července. Rozhodl jsem se navštívit Rumunsko v létě z důvodu, že je tam přece jen hezčí počasí a Rumunsko je v létě vhodné pro chození po horách. Rumunské pohoří Fagaraš je úžasné, ale přeci jen poměrně náročné a za špatného počasí i nebezpečné. Já měl naštěstí v Rumunsku celou dobu krásné počasí a to právě i na horách. Díky tomu se mi podařilo přejít kus pohoří Fagaraš s výstupem na nejvyšší horu Varful Moldoveanu 2544 m.
V další části výletu po Rumunsku jsem navštívil města Sibiu, Brašov, Fagaras, Iasi a hlavní město Bukurešť. Všechny rumunská města mají něco do sebe a krásné bylo především město Sibiu. Část výletu jsem projel hlavně vlaky a občas jsem musel dokonce stopovat. V Rumunsku je stopování aut poměrně jednoduché a i díky tomu jsem viděl například přehradu Vidraru, či klášter Arges. K hradu Bran jsem se dostal z Brašova autobusem a stejný den jsem navštívil i zámek Peles. Všechny památky jsou poměrně dostupné autobusy ai vlaky, akorát je potřeba vše dopředu předem naplánovat. Spojů totiž v Rumunsku není mnoho. Kor v odlehlejších částech Rumunska je třeba i jen jeden autobusový spoj za den.

Day 7 is a rest day. I walk through one of the oldest towns of Romania, first capital of Wallachia - Curtea des Arges. In the evening I join a family party at my accommodation where the well-known singer Maria Constantin, who is a relative of the host family, and also the cameraman, performs.

???? ROM “Mănăstirea Curtea de Argeș este o mănăstire ortodoxă din România, situată în orașul Curtea de Argeș, construită între 1515-1517 de Neagoe Basarab. Ansamblul cuprinde catedrala episcopală, unul dintre cele mai celebre monumente de arhitectură din Țara Românească. Catedrala este inclusă în Lista monumentelor istorice din România, având codul de clasificare AG-II-a-A-13628. În timpul lui Carol I, catedrala a fost transformată în necropolă pentru familia regală a României. În afară de mormintele regale, la Mănăstirea Curtea de Argeș se află și moaștele sfintei Filofteia.
Dacă în 1857 complexul monastic era păstrat în întregime, două incendii din 1866 și 1867 au distrus clădirile seminarului, respectiv locuințele, paraclisul și turnul de intrare. La inițiativa lui Carol I, biserica a fost restaurată începând cu 1875 de către arhitectul francez Lecomte du Noüy, ceea ce a dus la înlocuirea frescei originale cu o pictură nouă și la alte modificări radicale ale structurii interioare. În anul 1886 s-a terminat restaurarea bisercii și a început construirea palatului regal din latura de est a complexului, care va fi mai târziu transformat în palat episcopal.
Din 2009 a început construcția unei noi catedrale unde vor fi amplasate mormintele membrilor familiei regale a României ce vor deceda de atunci înainte, precum și moaștele sfintei Filofteia.
Mănăstirea a fost construită de Neagoe Basarab (1512 - 1517) pe locul vechii mitropolii (1359). Pictura interioară, realizată de zugravul Dobromir, a fost terminată în anul 1526, în timpul domniei lui Radu de la Afumați. Ea este păstrată fragmentar în Muzeul Național de Artă din București. Reparată de câteva ori, biserica a fost restaurată (1875 - 1886) de arhitectul francez André Lecomte du Noüy, discipol al lui Eugène Viollet-le-Duc, care i-a adus și unele modificări care au diminuat valoarea istorică a monumentului. Construită din piatră fățuită și profilată, biserica are un plan triconc, inspirat din planimetria bisericii Vodița II, reluat ulterior și în alte construcții (mitropolia din București, biserica fostei mănăstiri Cotroceni, mănăstirea Tismana etc.).”
???? ENG “The Cathedral of Curtea de Argeș (early 16th century) is a Romanian Orthodox cathedral in Curtea de Argeș, Romania. It is located on the grounds of the Curtea de Argeș Monastery, and is dedicated to Dormition of the Mother of God. The building is the seat of the Archdiocese of Argeș and Muscel.
The cathedral is faced with pale grey limestone, which was easily chiselled then hardened on exposure. The interior is of brick, plastered and decorated with frescoes. Nearby on the grounds stands a large Moorish-style royal palace.
The building resembles a very large and elaborate mausoleum, and was built in the Byzantine architectural style, with Moorish arabesques. The cathedral sits upon a raised platform, 7 ft (2.1 m) above the surrounding grade, and encircled by a stone balustrade. In shape the structure is oblong, with a many-sided annex at the back. A dome rises in the center, fronted by two smaller twisting and leaning cupolas, while a secondary dome, broader and loftier than the central one, springs from the annex. Each summit is crowned by an inverted pear-shaped stone, bearing a triple cross, emblematic of the Trinity.
The windows are mere slits; those of the tambours (the cylinders on which the cupolas rest) are curved and slant at an angle of 70 degrees, as though the tambours were leaning to one side.
Between the pediment and the cornice a thick corded moulding is carried round the main building. Above this comes a row of circular shields, adorned with intricate arabesques, while bands and wreaths of lilies are everywhere sculptured on the windows, balconies, tambours and cornices, adding lightness to the fabric.
Facing the main entrance is a small open shrine, consisting of a cornice and dome upheld by four pillars.”

Barajul Vidraru, Mănăstirea Curtea de Argeş
Sfat rapid: dacă ai o dronă, trebuie să ajungi la baraj, vara, preferabil. Cu siguranţă vei trece pe lângă el, mai ales dacă printre destinaţiile tale se numără şi vestitul Transfăgărăşan. Acest baraj a fost construit acum 59 de ani şi este primul baraj în formă de arc, construit în România. Scopul lui este de a produce energie electrică şi de a împiedica inundaţiile.

De-a lungul timpului, Mânăstirea Curtea de Argeș a avut o importanță deosebită pentru istoria și cultura românească. 150 kilometres north-east of Bucharest, Curtea de Arges is the gateway of the Transfagaran mountain road, the second capital of Wallachia in the 14th century and one of the most important and charming historical towns of Romania.
