Cranbrook’s strategic location makes it the commercial centre for the region. Cranbrook has a revitalized downtown with interesting shops and services bounded by beautiful heritage homes. This well-rounded community offers both arts and sports facilities. Enjoy the racquet / squash court or take a dip in the wave pool at the Recreation Centre. Cranbrook is a city in southeast British Columbia, Canada, located on the west side of the Kootenay River at its confluence with the St. Mary's River, It is the largest urban center in the region known as the East Kootenay.
The Frank Slide was a massive rockslide that buried part of the mining town of Frank in the District of Alberta of the North-West Territories, Canada, at 4:10 a.m. on April 29, 1903. Around 110 million tones of limestone rock slid down Turtle Mountain.

A very nice 3-hour drive from our holiday cabin in the Blaeberry Valley near Golden BC, the city of Cranbrook is the largest urban centre in the East Kootenay region of British Columbia.
The drive on the Kootenay-Columbia Highway (aka Highway 95) is very scenic all the way through with lots to see and do along the way to Cranbrook with many beautiful vistas of the Columbia Valley, and the Rocky mountains.
