The Big Wheel at Night, Stratford-Upon-Avon, Warwickshire | Exploring England

A 40-metre Ferris wheel on the banks of the River Avon in Stratford-Upon-Avon, Warwickshire. With six-seater viewing pods, offering views across Stratford-upon-Avon and beyond. Look out for The RSC theatres, the River Avon, Holy Trinity Church and, in the opposite direction from the town, the Welcombe Hills, topped by the unmistakable Obelisk.

Places to see in ( Waterlooville - UK )

Places to see in ( Waterlooville - UK )

Waterlooville is a town in Hampshire, England, approximately 8 miles north of Portsmouth. The town is surrounded by Purbrook, Blendworth, Cowplain, Lovedean, Clanfield, Catherington, Crookhorn, Denmead, Hambledon, Horndean and Widley. It forms part of the South Hampshire conurbation. The town formed around the old A3 London to Portsmouth road. Waterlooville is twinned with Maurepas, Yvelines in France and Henstedt-Ulzburg in Germany.

The main shopping precinct is served by First Hampshire & Dorset bus routes 7/X7, 8, The X9 route has been discontinued and replaced by the D1 and D2 service which runs from Hambledon and Denmead and goes to Waterlooville town centre, and Stagecoach South services 37 and 39. The A3 Bus Corridor priority route (constructed between 2003–2007) serves the town. As of 2006, the shopping precinct is closed to all road traffic other than buses.

The nearest train station is located in Bedhampton and is on the main train route between London and Portsmouth. For a time, South West Trains provided a direct bus link to Petersfield railway station via Horndean, enabling quick access to fast London-bound trains, but now the link to Petersfield is Stagecoach service 37 via Clanfield. Havant railway station is served by Stagecoach service 39, and stations in Portsmouth by First services 7/X7, 8 and X9. For westbound trains the station at Cosham, served by the local bus services, is on the line between Portsmouth and Fareham, with regular trains to Southampton and Cardiff.

According to local legend, many of them settled there. There is no proof of this assertion. The pub was thereafter renamed in their honour and the area around the pub became known as Waterlooville. The original Heroes pub was at a crossroads near the main bus-stop. It was demolished in 1966 and replaced with a bank; a new pub took the same name and is located at the northern end of the shopping precinct.

Near the town centre is the rebuilt St George's church. During the 1950s and 1960s the surrounding area saw extensive growth in housing, when large suburban public and private housing estates were constructed. This resulted in the original Victorian church failing to cope with the population growth. Plans for a new church were started and in 1970 the new church was built on the site of the old church. Parts of the old church were retained.

( Waterlooville - UK ) is well know as a tourist destination because of the variety of places you can enjoy while you are visiting the city of Waterlooville . Through a series of videos we will try to show you recommended places to visit in Waterlooville - UK

Things to do in Hampshire visit to Fort Nelson

Fort Nelson is one of five Portsdown Forts. Built as a result of the 1859 Royal Commission by Lord Palmerston to prevent a French land attack, on the Portsmouth dockyard only 8 kilometres away, because the older Hilsea Lines at the bottom of the ridge were considered insufficient. A series of 6 forts were built along the 7 miles (10 km) of the ridge. From west to east they are forts Fareham, Wallington, Nelson, Southwick, Widley and Purbrook. The line was finished off at the eastern end with Crookhorn Redoubt and Farlington Redoubt. A garrison of around 200 volunteers accompanied by regular army officers would have manned the fort in time of war. Construction was protracted and Fort Nelson wasn't fully armed until the 1890s.[3] The fort was disarmed in 1907 and then used for accommodation. In 1938, it was converted to an area anti-aircraft ammunition store; ten large magazines were built on the parade ground. Fort Nelson was abandoned in the 1950s.(source-Wikipedia)

A Quick Cool Down In The Sea At Sandown - Isle Of Wight - July 2021 | kittikoko #isleofwight #beach

#sandown #isleofwight #beach #virtualwalk

From Visit Isle Of Wight:

Sandown Beach is one of the Isle of Wight's finest and most recognised beaches, with miles of soft golden sands crowned by Sandown’s pleasure pier. Popular with tourists and surfers, Sandown is a traditional 'bucket and spade' holiday beach with all that you expect from an English family beach.

Sandown’s esplanade has traditional seaside cafes, souvenir and beach shops, whilst the pier has amusements galore, including a crazy golf course. The beach has several outlets to hire deckchairs, sun loungers and windbreaks for you to set up camp on the beach and you can get take away teas and coffees and eat hot chips with salt and vinegar whilst you sit on the beach.

The main seafront area begins slightly west of the pier where there is plenty of parking and from here the road runs along the Esplanade down to where the sand narrows. At this point there is a beach shop and shore side cafe and the road turns inland. All along this esplanade are traditional hotels, some with palm-filled gardens and some with decked areas with wonderful views of the beach.

Running parallel behind the beachfront is the High Street that has a selection of arty and tourist style shops along with major supermarket chains, pubs, cafes and restaurants.

Sandown sits on the Southern coast of the Isle of Wight, sheltered in a beautiful bay, and is famed for its long stretches of golden sandy beach and the traditional British seafront and pier.

Sandown also has a great selection of attractions, including a Zoo housed in an old fort and a purpose built interactive Dinosaur Museum.

Sandown has lots of things to do for people of all ages and interests.

For a fun and relaxing family day out head to Sandham Gardens and have a go with Skynets: The Big Bounce, karting and Dino golf, or just enjoy the glorious gardens.

You can relax and spend quality time strolling along Sandown Beach followed by an ice cream or refreshments at one of the licensed beach cafés.

The main town beach stretches all the way along the Esplanade where it meets with Yaverland Beach, which is regarded as one of the Isle of Wight’s best beaches.

Yaverland is very popular for watersports, and there are a number of local water sports centres from which you can test your skills at windsurfing, kayaking or many other activities.
