Top 5 BEST Places to Live in Newfoundland

Here is the much anticipated video on Newfoundland! In this video I cover what I believe to be 5 of the best places to call home in Newfoundland. Like I mentioned in this video, we are going to dedicate an entire video to Labrador. Leave some suggestions for the type of video you'd like to see. Newfoundland is a very isolated yet special place and it is one of Canada's most hidden gems. There are some fantastic places in Newfoundland you could call home. After visiting St. John's, NL in February of 2020, my outlook on the province completely changed, it blew my already high expectations out of the water, and I cannot wait to go back.

If you were to move to Newfoundland, where would you like to settle? What towns/cities did I miss?

Be sure to like, comment and subscribe for more!
Thanks for watching!

Expedition Newfoundland | FULL MOVIE | Travel Documentary

Join us on our overland journey to Canada's Newfoundland Island. We spend 3 weeks July 2023 camping and traveling to some of the most beautiful places around the country. We spent 6 months mapping and planning for this trip. Packing in as much adventure as we can.

Trip Powered by REDARC, XVenture Trailers, Powertube TV & Rugged Bound Supply

PLEASE SUBSCRIBE

Our journey starts with a 1860 mile trek just to get to Newfoundland Canada. But first a border crossing into New Brunswick via the Deer island ferry. Our first night in Canada lands us at the Bay of Fundy. Next into Nova Scotia and our first epic Lobster Roll. Arriving in Sydney NS port to get on a 8 hr Atlantic Ferry going to Newfoundland.

Once in Newfoundland our real overland expedition can begin. We make our way up the west coast exploring the Long Island peninsula and small lobster villages. Next the Viking Trail, Great Northern Peninsula along beautiful shores, collapsed sea caves and barren landscapes. We camp at the furthest north Point Normans Cape. Next Lance Aux Meadows a viking village. Then to St. Anthony. Ending the day in Englee. A coastal fishing town that we camp above on a mountain lake.

Then we head off of the northern peninsula down to the abandoned town Round Harbor with our first humpback whale visitor. Landing on the cliffs overlooking the North Atlantic in the town of LaScie. We spend the afternoon watching humpback whales play in the bay. Followed by a visit to iconic Twillingate where a sickness may cut our trip short.

Next Newfoundlands largest offshore island, Fogo Island. After the ferry our first stop is the small town of Fogo. We visit an odd location The Fogo Island Inn. A remote 5 star hotel. We return to Fogo to camp at the Brimstone Head Park. Leaving Fogo we visit Cape Freels Beach. Then we head down to the beautiful island chain town of Newtown. We end our day on the island of Greensport with an afternoon of crazy weather. Our next day takes us through Terra Nova National Park where we find Mountain View’s, an extremely useful visitor center, showers and an aquatic touch tank. Our path then leads around the north rim of the Bonaviata peninsula. We check out the Cape Bonivista Lighthouse and Puffin Colony. Before heading to the Community Pasture full of wild roaming horses and the perfect camp spot. Ending the day with two whales slapping the water with fins and tails for hours just off shore.

Exploring Elliston we find more Puffin and whale! Next we head to Trinity to one of the oldest blacksmith forges around! A few hr drive takes us to Dildo and a bay side camp spot. The next destination is the islands largest city, Saint Johns. Where we see Signal Hill, Cabot Tower and Jelly Bean Row. Then we become true Newfoundlanders by getting Screeched In at Trapper Johns. We end the day camped on a 600 foot high cliff north of St. John’s.

The next day takes us as far East as you can go on the continent to Cape Spear. Then we wind our way down the coast through Ferryland and around to the South Avalon-Burin Oceanic Barrens. Where we end up at Cape Race Lighthouse. We do some trail riding before settling in a small cove full of seals. Our last day on the island takes us to Cape Pine (the furthest south you can drive) and then up to Castle Hill Fort before we Jump on our ferry in Argentia (MV Atlantic Vision) to head back home through Nova Scotia and New Brunswick.

48 Hours in St John's Newfoundland - Must see ICEBERGS!

You LOVE icebergs! So do I!! Newfoundland has some amazing sites you just have to see!!

0:00 Newfoundland
2:10 Icebergs!!
2:33 Helicopter pad overlooking the Atlantic Ocean
3:07 shipwreck Conception Bay
4:18 iceberg breaking up on shore

This time myBSlife took me to St. John's Newfoundland in Canada for 48 hours!

At the 2:35 spot you will see my favourite moment of my trip to St. John’s Newfoundland.
At the 4:18 time marker you get to see what an iceberg looks like as it breaks up hitting the shore at Cape Spear Newfoundland Canada.

I had an amazing trip seeing so many icebergs up close and personal as well as some of the most unforgiving shoreline you can imagine while eating outstanding food everywhere I went.

St John's is an incredible Canadian city with amazing live music all over and delicious food to go with it. That being said, for me, my favourite part was getting out of the city and doing some hiking and seeing the icebergs up close on this trip.

Signal Hill right in the heart of St. John's Newfoundland is a great hike with beautiful views from the top. Free parking and a great number of trails make this a can't miss for anyone in the city. Even if you aren't a hiker, you can drive to the top and you have a great view of the city on one side and the icebergs on the other!

As I travelled just outside St. John’s Newfoundland proper a short 20 minute drive, you can see the Cape Spear Lighthouse and tucked down below a former military base with the canon still present. Once again all kinds of well maintained and marked boardwalks and trails for the hikers out there! Yes more icebergs easily seen from the shore!

Another short trip outside St. John’s Newfoundland took me up past Pouch Cove to the East Coast Trail where I was able to do one of my all-time most memorable events. I was able to walk onto a helicopter pad overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. This was an absolute life highlight of mine. While standing on the helicopter pad I could see many icebergs floating by!

The last drive was to Conception Bay to see the ship that was shipwrecked and left behind. All of the activities during this trip to St. John’s Newfoundland were easily done in 48 hours. Travel in this part of Canada enabled me to see literally countless icebergs while I was in and around St. John’s Newfoundland.

Driving around every turn and corner I was able to see more icebergs, if that is a dream of yours, you will not be let down. The East Coast of Canada is an amazing place to travel!! Here is a link to help get you started as you look for icebergs.

That's myBSlife, travel safely my friends!
Brad

St. John's Newfoundland is an amazing 48-hour trip. If you have more time you can certainly see more, but if that's all you have you won't be disappointed. I highly suggest you rent a car while there it will simplify your life and truly allow you to maximize your time!

More people need to get to this amazing gem in Canada.

If you are looking for an incredible 48 thousand you are able to get to St. John's Newfoundland you will not be disappointed and this is not just for myBSlife but for yours also!!!

The Best Fish n Chips In ST. JOHN'S NEWFOUNDLAND

You can find great pieces of fish at snack bars and restaurants here in St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador. There are many FnC establishments that have survived – and thrived here, many for decades. This is not secret. We are known for our Fish n Chips.

Over a 7 day period in late April, I made a point to visit all of the different St. John's-based Fish n Chips restaurants that I new about; 7 in all. In this video, I shared as much info as I could about each place (and of course, their food).

I visited Ches's, Leo's, Scamper's, The Big R, Keith's, Chafe's Landing, and The Duke of Duckworth, and I ate 1 piece, with chips, dressing and gravy at each place.

ST. John's, Canada - Driving Tour 4K

St. John's is the capital and largest city of the Canadian province of Newfoundland and Labrador, located on the eastern tip of the Avalon Peninsula on the island of Newfoundland.

The city spans 446.04 km2 (172.22 sq mi) and is the easternmost city in North America (excluding Greenland).

Its name has been attributed to the belief that John Cabot sailed into the harbour on the Nativity of John the Baptist in 1497, although it is most likely a legend that came with British settlement. A more realistic possibility is that a fishing village with the same name existed without a permanent settlement for most of the 16th century. The city was founded by Spanish fishermen from the Guipúzcoa port of Pasajes de San Juan, who arrived in those lands at the beginning of the 16th century in search of fishing, settled and called the place San Juan de Pasajes, today is known as San Juan de Terranova.[13] Indicated as São João on a Portuguese map from 1519, it is one of the oldest cities in North America.[14] It was officially incorporated as a city in 1888. With a metropolitan population of approximately 212,579 (as of February 9, 2022), the St. John's Metropolitan Area is Canada's 20th-largest metropolitan area and the second-largest Census Metropolitan Area (CMA) in Atlantic Canada, after Halifax.

The city has a rich history, having played a role in the Seven Years' War, the American Revolutionary War, and the War of 1812. Italian inventor Guglielmo Marconi received the first transatlantic wireless signal in St. John's. Its history and culture have made it into an important tourist destination. St. John's was referred to as Baile Sheáin (Johnstown), in the poetry of Donnchadh Ruadh Mac Conmara (1715–1810), and among speakers of the Irish language in Newfoundland.

St. John's City Tour and History | Newfoundland | Canada

St. John's is the largest city in Newfoundland and is also the most easterly city in all of North America.

Despite having a small town feel (the city itself has only 220,000 people or so), this city has a lot to offer, including a lot of history. We decided to spend our first day In St. John's by going a walking tour and getting the lay of the land.

We toured the waterfront and then the famous George street - a place filled with live music.

This area was discovered the in the late 1400's and appeared on maps as early as 1512, making St. John's Newfoundland one of the oldest cities in North America.
