Comerío Puerto Rico - Cradle Of Troubadours

Most towns in Puerto Rico have something that makes them unique. That’s not to say that everything else is insignificant. It’s just that they stand out for one thing more than the rest. In the case of Comerío it’s Puerto Rico’s folk music, or “la música jíbara” like we call it on the Island.

But Comerío has a lot more going for it. Did you know that it was once Puerto Rico’s most important producer of tobacco? That’s right. They even one first prize on a worldwide competition.

Comerío also sits next to La Plata River, the longest in Puerto Rico and also one of the mightiest. That makes for spectacular landscapes, lush vegetation and the ocasional flooding when mother nature gets angry.

And then there’s the people. You couldn’t ask for a friendlier crowd. The “comerieños” were great! My wife and I felt right at home.

So sit back, relax and enjoy this short presentation.

TOP 5 SAFE BEACHES IN PUERTO RICO:

Puerto Rico, the island of enchantment, is a travel destination that truly has it all: pristine beaches for swimming, reefs for snorkeling, entertainment for family members of every age, mouthwatering cuisine, a fascinating culture, and every kind of adventure you could imagine.

The beaches of Guanica in the south of Puerto rico feature magnificent stands of mangrove trees. The winding shapes of the mangrove roots and plentiful wildlife make these beaches extra fun to visit.

Not only are the island’s beaches spectacular to admire, the majority of them are also safe for swimming and have clean, warm water all year long. Many of these beaches are also full of vibrant marine life and provide ample opportunities for snorkeling and diving. Playa Puerto Nuevo and Crashboat are great places to enjoy marine wildlife.

Cabo Rojo has dramatic coastal landscapes that can rival the famous cliffs of Ireland and Dover.

Visit Puerto Rico’s sister islands of Culebra and Vieques for the brightest turquoise blue waters you’ll ever see.

Puerto Rico’s natural charms aren’t just limited to the coastline. Go further inland to experience majestic mountain views and lush rainforests, like the Toro Negro forest.

Lechon, the most famous Puerto Rican food, is a whole roast pig. Puerto Ricans especially cherish the cuerito, the extra crunchy pork skin that is like bacon but a thousand times better.

One of the best places to get traditional Puerto rican food is Guavate, also known as the pork highway. You can also find traditional side dishes like sweet potato guineitos and yuca.

Along the highways, you can find amazing restaurants like Mami que hay pa comer, which makes gigantic pasteles, a typical Puerto rican dish specially popular during Christmas season.

For an elevated yet affordable Puerto Rican dining experience, visit To Share in Condado. This is my personal favorite restaurant in Puerto Rico, and the food and cocktails never disappoint. They even have vegan options.

Hijole is a great option for Mexican or Criollo food, and it’s our favorite spot for brunch and frozen margaritas.

For a juicy hamburger, check out el Hamburger in Puerta de tierra which has been popular with locals for more than 50 years.

If you’re craving Japanese food, we highly recommend Nihon Ippudo in Guaynabo. They make amazing sushi and the crunchiest orange chicken you’ll ever eat.

Cidra Puerto Rico a “Cool” Experience In Every Sense

Cidra, Puerto Rico is known as “The Eternal Spring City” or “La Ciudad de la Eterna Primavera” as the locals call it. The fact that its a full 1,417 feet above sea level doesn’t hurt either. And you can feel it from the minute you get there.

On June 8th of 2023 my wife and I visited the town of Cidra as part of our “5 Must-See Places” series. It was 108° F in the shade in the San Juan Metroplex. We didn’t actually measure the difference in Cidra, but it was clearly 8-10° cooler. So you could feel the difference.

During this trip we visited the center of town with its beautiful “Nuestra Señora del Carmen” Parish, the Francisco M. Zeno Square, the old Firehouse Museum, the wonderful “Presencia e Identidad” Public Art Project, the relaxing “Hacienda Sabanera” and a lot lot more.

Sit back, relax and enjoy one of the most beautiful towns in Puerto Rico. And if you’re wondering about all those beautiful orange-colored trees, yeah, we tell you about those too.

Toa Alta, Puerto Rico: Discover the Enchanting City by the River

Toa Alta is one of the oldest towns in Puerto Rico. “Toa” is what the Taíno natives called the La Plata River, which is Puerto Rico’s longest and goes through 11 separate towns. In this video we cover its main plaza “Egoscue Square”, City Hall, The Maso Rivera Theater, the San Fernando Rey Parish (one of the oldest and nicest on the Island) and the “La Plata Reservoir Recreational Fishing Project”, a full blown recreational facility on the outskirts of town that you have to see to believe.

Downtown Comerio a beautiful town in Puerto Rico La Perla Del Plata 4K HDR

Comerio is a charming town located in the central part of Puerto Rico, known for its natural beauty and historic sites. While Comerio is relatively small and doesn't have a bustling downtown like larger cities, there are still several points of interest to explore in the town and its surrounding areas.
We will start our tour by exploring the town's central area, including the town square (Plaza de Recreo) where you can find local shops, cafes, and restaurants. This is a great place to experience the local culture and maybe enjoy some traditional Puerto Rican cuisine.

Aguas Buenas, Puerto Rico | Should You Go There?

Aguas Buenas is a small town, south of Guaynabo and northwest of Caguas, that has great potential if only the township would put a little more effort into tourism. As it stands now, you can stop there on your way to Caguas, Guaynabo or even Cayey.

I always try to be nice when I produce these videos so let’s just say that our trip there was “uneventful”. However, I’ve done my best to show you the things that I did like about this town.
