The Gorges of Dobrudja do not resemble the keys that we used in the Carpathians, whether they are smaller or larger. The valley here is wide, meandered, and the limestone walls are quite a distance from the water. The height of the walls is not high, 30-40 meters, but the keys here have something special, a unique attraction you can not find in the Carpathians. The limestones here are reefs, which preserve the traces of the former atolls in the form of ruinous relief. The atolls formed in the warm warmth that covered the Jurassic and Cretaceous area of Dobrogea (Thetis Sea - 180-100 million years ago) are still visible in the walls of the gorges. The scaffolds of coral colonies, deposited in more or less circular shapes, can be seen very well over the entire length of the keys. Palms, horseshoes, pyramids, towers, recognize them immediately if you have used your eye and you know what to look for. In the central area of the keys, a rectangular tower is well kept. It looks like a cooling tower from a miniaturized thermal power plant ... and it has deposits of sediment covered with grass inside.

“Music and Traditions in Cismigiu” International Folklore Festival:
Cismigiu Park in Bucharest will host a new edition of Music and Traditions in Cismigiu International Folklore Festival this weekend. Over 2,000 artists, orchestras, brass bands, folk groups, and craftsmen will gather downtown Bucharest between June 24 and June 25 for Romania’s largest folklore festival.
The event kicks off on Friday, June 24, with a parade of Romanian and international folk costumes which will follow the route Romanian Athenaeum – Calea Victoriei – Cercul Militar National – Regina Elisabeta blvd. – Cismigiu Park.
The Bucharest Mayor’s Office, via CreArT – the Bucharest City Hall’s Centre for Creation, Art and Tradition organizes, between June 24 and 26, the fifth edition of the “Music and Traditions in Cismigiu” International Folklore Festival. The event will kick off in Friday, June 24, with a Romanian and international folk costumes’ parade, along the route: Romanian Athenaeum (George Enescu Square) – Calea Victoriei – Military Circle – Regina Elisabeta Boulevard – Cismigiu Park (the State Archive entrance).
The festival includes three great sections: folk shows, artisans’ fairs (40 huts where Romanian traditional products and artefacts will be on offer) and a traditional cuisine area. “By this edition of the International Folklore Festival, we wish to bring, once again, before the public in Bucharest traditions from all regions of Romania and from elsewhere. Our aim is not only to recapture the identity of the village in the urban space, but also to integrate genuine tradition in the wide European cultural circuit,” Claudia Popa, director of the festival, stated, quoted by Mediafax. The programme is a varied one: Romanian and international folk ensembles, ensembles representing ethnic minorities and national communities, reputed artists, brass bands and children’s bands. The cultural project also includes creative workshops for children, an ethno-cinématheque, as well as carriage and pony rides in specially-set up areas. The manifestations will take part throughout the festival, between 10am and 10pm, and the public’s entrance is free. The “Music and Traditions in Cismigiu” International Folklore Festival is the only event of its kind in Southern Romania, bringing before the public over 1,000 artists, in a national and international celebration of true value.
Dumbrăveni – Urluia Valley – Lake Vederoasa
Mysterious and wild are the ways of Dobrogea. The Dumbrăveni – Urluia Valley and Lake Vederoasa in Constanţa County represent a unique natural mix in the world of over 18,000 hectares. Continental sweet waters, marshes and peatlands mix in dry meadows, forests and arable land. No hectare of this protected area resembles the other. Nature offers surprises at every step. There are also reptiles in the forests of Dumbrăveni, but you can also find endangered plant and animal species. Here is the Dobrogean blotched snake or the four-strip serpent (Elaphe quatuorlineata), the marbled polecat, and the dobrogean hamster. Of the plants, there are also some rare and very important species for preserving biological diversity, such as the common tormentil. Geomorphological landscapes are very attractive, too, with hills, valleys with permanent waters, meadows and cliffs.
DN 6 (E-70): Caransebeş - Lugoj (May 3, 2019)
Starting the trip in the southern part of Caransebeş (Balta Sărată district) and driving north along the main road of the city. At the junction with the bypass road, we join the busy European route E-70 (min. 11:22 in the video).
Then following the National Road 6 for 35 km, passing through 4 intermediate villages: Jupa and Jena (speed limit - 70 km/h), Constantin Daicoviciu and Sacu (speed limit - 60 km/h).
At minute 38:15 we reach the bypass road of Lugoj, which connects further to motorways A6 and A1 just north of Lugoj.

Freight train in Cernavodă (Dobrogea, Romania)
The town is a Danube fluvial port, and it houses the Cernavodă Nuclear Power Plant, consisting of two CANDU reactors providing about 18% of Romania's electrical energy output. The second reactor was built through a joint venture between Canada's Atomic Energy of Canada Limited and Italy's ANSALDO and become fully functional in November 2007.
The Danube-Black Sea Canal, opened in 1984, runs from Cernavodă to Agigea and Năvodari. The Cernavodă Nuclear Power Plant.
The outskirts of Cernavodă host numerous vineyards, producers of Chardonnay wine. The largest winery in the area is Murfatlar.
Adamclisi & Vama Veche in December
A small escapade to the Black Sea in December. A quick view for a couple of hours, but a wonderful trip. Getting almost lost, finding the roman city from Adamclisi and seeing Vama Veche deserted, a melancholic feelign arose.

Hristo Boev: The study The Different Dobrudja shows the need for Bulgarian-Romanian cooperation
Interview with Hristo Boev (Ph.D) - the author of the study The different Dobrudja in the inter-war literature”, which presents perspectives on Dobrudja and the neighbours across the Danube in the inter-war Bulgarian and Romanian literature, perspectives on the military actions, the idea for a unified Bulgarian-Romanian state and other issues from the Bulgarian-Romanian relations in the XX century.
The interview was realised on 9 March 2021, a little bit before the start of the event in the regional library in Rousse, where Hristo Boev and his family presented The Different Dobrudja and the novel Spider's web by Cella Serghi, in translation of Hristo Boev. Among the issues of discussion are: the imporatnce of Dobrudja in Bulgaria and Romania, the reciprocal impressions of Bulgarians and Romanians in the inter-war literature, the parallels between the military stories of Yordan Yovkov and George Topârceanu and what could bring the two nations together today, when the nation-state has a different role that the one, played in the XX century.

Tărâmul Fermierilor de Mâine: Dumitru Vârgă - Crama Budureasca
Dumitru Vârgă are ani buni de agricultură în spate, iar pasiunea cea mare este reprezentată de viticultură și vinificație. A ajuns în zona Dealu Mare, în județul Prahova, acum aproape 22 de ani, implicându-se total în businessul de viticultură. În numai 4 ani a reușit să asigure, prin programul de reconversie, replantarea a nu mai puțin de 250 de hectare de viță de vie. Rezultatele s-au văzut ulterior.
Crama Budureasca produce nu mai puțin de 2.2 milioane de litri de vin pe an. Sunt 11 soiuri albe și 5 roșii, iar vizita în cramă îți va deschide noi orizonturi. Digitalizarea a devenit o constantă în acest loc extraordinar. Toate fermentatoarele sunt legate la un panou de control, pentru ca munca să fie simplă pentru operatori si pentru oenolog.
Vinul este păstrat în săli în care nivelul de temperatură și umezeală este atent ținut sub control, senzorii fac toată treaba și oferă toate datele de care are nevoie Dumitru Vârgă. Dincolo de cramă, fermierul prahovean ajută și comunitatea. 5 elevi beneficiază în fiecare an de burse, iar drumurile din zonă sunt reabilitate și cu ajutorul fondurilor de la Crama Budureasca. În plus, Dumitru Vârgă merge pe drumul unei agriculturi ce susține economia circulară, pentru a reduce orice fel de pierdere. Dorește sa extindă capacitatea de vie ecologică în decursul următorilor ani, urmărind mereu direcția pieței de desfacere a vinului.
