10 Most Hated Towns in England

What are the most hated towns in England? No matter how good a country is, every part of it can’t be loved equally. In fact, some parts of it are bound to be hated. Even the most fanatic lover of a country will love some parts of it less than others. I have heard some people complaining about some towns in England, the home of the Queen that some people are dying to live and work in. That prompts research into the 10 most hated towns in England.
This ranking is based mainly on the comments and complaints of residents of England and visitors to those towns. But it’s not limited to that since some complaints can be completely baseless. We dig deeper in researching these 10 most hated towns in England.
10. Slough
Let’s begin with Slough, a town in Berkshire, within the historic county of Buckinghamshire. This town is 20 miles west of central London and 19 miles northeast of Reading. You will find the town in the Thames Valley and within the London metropolis around the area at the intersection of the M4.
In spite of its location, Slough according to those visitors, is a town whose streets are littered with empty takeaway and full of packets or empty beer cans. This assertion hasn’t been contradicted by even just one resident. The quality of food in the town’s restaurants appears, kind of, made for losers who’re just out to eat as much unhealthy food as they can get away with.
9. Scunthorpe
It’s not desirable to find Scunthorpe among the most hated towns in England. Unfortunately, we can’t afford to take it out of our list because the facts obviously place it there. This industrial town in the unitary authority of North Lincolnshire should normally be the pride of Lincolnshire as its main administrative center. But the town with an estimated population of 82,334 in 2016 had many things going against it.
Residents of the UK’s largest steel processing center, also known as the Industrial Garden Town, are frustrated by a lack of the liveliness and diversity in the town only known for work. However, the loudest grouse that lists Scunthorpe alongside the most hated towns in England is the indiscriminate censorship and blocking of websites for spurious reasons.

Clevedon Seafront In 4K. Places To Visit In Somerset.

Clevedon is an English seaside town and civil parish in the unitary authority of North Somerset, part of the ceremonial county of Somerset. It recorded a parish population of 21,281 in the United Kingdom Census 2011, estimated at 21,442 in 2019. It lies along the Severn Estuary, among small hills that include Church Hill, Wain's Hill (topped by the remains of an Iron Age hill fort), Dial Hill, Strawberry Hill, Castle Hill, Hangstone Hill and Court Hill, a Site of Special Scientific Interest with overlaid Pleistocene deposits. It features in the Domesday Book of 1086. Clevedon grew in the Victorian period as a seaside resort and in the 20th century as a dormitory town for Bristol.

The seafront has ornamental gardens, a Victorian bandstand and other attractions. Salthouse Field has a light railway running round the perimeter and is used for donkey rides in the summer. The shore consists of pebbled beaches and low rocky cliffs, with an old harbour at the western edge of the town, at the mouth of the Land Yeo. The rocky beach has been designated as the Clevedon Shore Geological Site of Special Scientific Interest.
Clevedon Pier, which opened in 1869, is one of the earliest surviving examples of a Victorian pier. On 17 October 1970, two outward spans collapsed when the seventh set of legs from the shore failed during a routine insurance load test. A trust was eventually formed and the pier and its buildings were restored and reopened on 27 May 1989, when the Waverley paddle steamer berthed and took on passengers. Other landmarks include Walton Castle, Clevedon Court, the Clock Tower, and the Curzon Cinema.

St Andrew's Church, Clevedon In 4K. Places To Visit In Somerset.

The Church of St Andrew in Clevedon, Somerset, England. Parts of the original 12th-century church remain with 14th- and 15th-century additions. It is on a hill overlooking the Bristol Channel, and has been designated as a Grade I listed building.
The church was built on Anglo-Saxon foundations.
It is the burial place of Arthur Hallam, subject of the poem In Memoriam A.H.H. by his friend Alfred, Lord Tennyson. The exterior of the church includes a carving which may be a Sheela na gig. The Anglican parish of Clevedon is part of the Portishead deanery.
St Andrew's was used as a filming location to depict the local parish church in all three series of the popular crime drama Broadchurch.

Clevedon | North Somerset | West Country | Evening stroll along the seafront

Clevedon in North Somerset is a popular Victorian seaside resort near Bristol. (About 12 miles from Bristol).

I took the X6 bus there from Bristol Bus Station and got off at Salthouse Fields which is next to the promenade. It’s just a short walk accross the beach.

I started my walk at the Marine Lake and walked towards the iconic Clevedon Pier.

In this video I show you the miniature railway aswell as a selection of places to eat and drink along the sea front.

Clevedon Pier and Heritage Centre

We've decided to visit Clevedon Pier on a lovely February day. Well worth it as lovely to see a traditional pier without all the extras such as arcades, fair ground rides and takeaway kiosks. Food and drinks can be obtained from either end and there is a small gift shop in the ticket area. We had lovely views across to Wales.

The building of Britain’s seaside piers was a direct legacy of the industrial revolution. The fruits of that revolution, often harshly exacted and only slowly shared, were wealth, leisure and new demands for entertainment and travel.

The official opening of Clevedon pier was held on Easter Monday, 29th March 1869. Throughout the morning, large numbers had congregated at Clevedon railway station. The 10:15 train from Bristol alone had brought five hundred passengers.

The opening day was a great success according to at least one contemporary newspaper report.

Also, special thanks to my friend Simon, for participating in this video.

Hope you'll enjoy the video! If yes, please like, share and subscribe.

CLEVEDON, Somerset, England

A quiet, pretty little town in North Somerset on the Bristol Channel coast of England, Clevedon was once a fishing village but in the mid 19th century tried to reinvent itself as a small but fashionable seaside resort. It didn't make it in the big time but is nevertheless a nice place to visit, live or retire within easy reach of Bristol & with spectacular sunsets to be seen from the promenade. Unfortunately the branch railway was closed in the 1960's so the town can only be reached by road or by sea at high tide.

Clevedon Seafront And Pier Somerset.

Clevedon seafront includes ornamental gardens, a Victorian bandstand, and other visitor attractions. The Salthouse Field has a light railway running round the perimeter and is used for donkey rides during the summer. The shore is a mixture of pebbled beaches and low rocky cliffs, with the old harbour being at the western edge of the town at the mouth of the Land Yeo. The rocky beach has been designated as the Clevedon Shore geological Site of Special Scientific Interest.
Clevedon Pier was opened in 1869, one of the earliest examples of a Victorian pier still in existence in the United Kingdom. On October 17, 1970, the two outward spans collapsed when the seventh set of legs from the shore failed during a routine insurance load test. After a protracted series of considerations a trust was formed and the pier including the terminal buildings were thoroughly restored and opened on May 27, 1989, when the Waverley paddle steamer berthed and took on passengers.
Other landmarks include Walton Castle, Clevedon Court the Clevedon clock tower and the Curzon cinema.
