[4K] ???????? Chachoengsao City Fort Wall, Chachoengsao, Thailand

Chachoengsao Fortifications, Chachoengsao, Thailand

Information from Tourism Authority of Thailand

Located on Maruphong Road, Chachoengsao City Fort Wall was built in 1794 during the reign of King Nangklao, or King Rama III, with Prince Rakronnaret as a construction supervisor, in order to protect the city of Chachoengsao from invasions. After that, in the reign of King Chulalongkorn, or King Rama V, the army used it as the base for suppressing the Ang Yi Rebellion, which consisted of illegal Chinese opium dealers who plundered many areas of the city. In front of the fort wall is a public park where you can get a scenic view of the Bang Pakong River.Constructed of bricks and cements, the fort wall stretches from the east to the west with a width of about one metre, a length of about 200 metres and a height of three metres. Behind the wall is a ditch. Some of the areas around the fort wall were set as a public park. Five cannons of different sizes can also be found along the wall. The length varies from 224 to 325 centimetres and the width at the muzzles from 10 to 18 centimetres. On 5 January 1954, it was registered as a national ancient monument in the Royal Thai Government Gazette Vol. 71 Part III by the Fine Arts Department.

100 Year Baan Mai Market - Chachoengsao Thailand 2024

100 Year Baan Mai Market (using the name of Ban Mai Subdistrict) is the market located along the Bang Pakong River. It is a famous antique market in Chachoengsao province that shouldn't be missed when visiting the province. 100 Year Baan Mai Market is the place where you will see the old houses and waterfront community as well as will enjoy shopping for local products and eating lots of delicious food.

100 Year Baan Mai Market is located along the Bang Pakong River. As 100 Year Baan Mai Market is a waterfront market, people can reach the market both by land and water. Even if you have no private car, reaching 100 Year Baan Mai Market is convenient as you can take songtaew from the bus station or train station to the market.

100 Year Baan Mai Market has a genuine atmosphere because it is set up in an ancient Thai-Chinese community that has been in existence for more than 100 years. The market is not like the floating markets in the central region where vendors are selling stuff from the boats. The stalls here are set up on land alongside the path running between rows of wooden houses adjacent to each other in a small community. 100 Year Baan Mai Market is mostly visited by locals and not many tourists can be spotted here, that gives the market more of an authentic feel.

It is a small market as the length of it is just 200 - 300 meters. The charm here is a truly ancient market and the traditional waterfront community. This area overall is still being well preserved. It is believed that the Ban Mai market community has existed since the reign of King Rama III and has been the main commercial center along the waterway routes.

100 Year Baan Mai Market in Chachoengsao is open on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays, from 08:30 to 17:00.

The market is a lot of fun. It’s a bit outside of Bangkok but if you are nearby stop and check it out.

[CHACHOENGSAO] Wat Sothon Wararam Worawihan | Thailand [4K HDR Walking Tour]

Wat Sothon Wararam Worawihan, originally known as “Wat Hong,” the evidence states that it was built around the late Ayutthaya era. As time goes by, the Bang Pakong River eroded its banks causing Wat Hong to disappear; therefore, a new temple was built. Wat Sothon Wararam Worawihan is the ancient temple of Chachoengsao Province. It is the enshrinement place of Luang Por Phutthasothon, the revered Buddha image of many people in Thailand since the ancient times. It is located on Marupong Road, about 2 kilometers away from the downtown market. This temple was originally a private monastery, built around the late Ayutthaya era. According to history, it was firstly named as “Wat Hong” because there was swan column in the temple (swan in Thai means Hong ). Later, the swan on top of the column fell down and only the column was left. A flag was hung to replace the swan, so its name was changed to “Wat Sao Thong.” (flag in Thai means Thong). When the flag pole snapped in half, the name became “Wat Sao Thong Thon.” Regarding the name “Wat Sothon,” which means “purity” and “sacred,” it was named after the name of Phra Putthasothon or Luang Por Sothon which was enshrined in this temple. Later, Wat Sothon was appointed by His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej to become a Royal Monastery, Elementary Level, Worawihan Category, with the name of “Wat Sothonwararamworawihan” on 8 August 1958.

Wat Phuttha Prommayan - Chachoengsao Thailand 2023 - Peaceful Temple on an Island

Wat Phuttha Prommayan is a temple located in Chachangsao Thailand about an hour east of Bangkok. It’s famous for the Buddha image and locals come here to make merit.

This temple is located on Koh Lat Island, in the middle of the Bang Pakong River. The temple has an area of more than 20 rai (10 acres). It is only accessible by boat due to no road connecting the island to the mainland. It’s a short ferry ride that costs 20 Baht per person to get over to the temple.

The interior atmosphere is beautiful and luxurious with sculptures and architecture of pearl white and gold. It features pictures and statues of Ekaluck Panikamo from Wat Paknam Jolo, who is a co-developer of the temple. There is a Thip Wihan boat prominently located in the center. On the boat there is the Buddha image. Somdej Phraya Yommarat and Phraya Yommarat are enshrined in the Wihan that you first enter after coming off the ferry.

The temple is expanding and will be an amazing silver with marble inside when it’s completed. It was a lot of fun to see how the temple is being built as well as seeing what it will look like upon completing. It’s a bit off the tourist trail for western tourists but it’s very popular for the Thais to come and make merit.
