Of all the countries we visited on our most recent Euro trip, we could say definitively that this surprised us the most. In this video, we’ll tell you how we were able to plan our trip to this vastly underrated European gem!

Gorge Zarica Mystery [S1-E39]
Gorge Zarica mystery - Today we are at the accumulation lake of the Mavčiče hydroelectric power plant. We will row from Mavčič towards Kranj. First across Lake Trboje, then through the gorge below the village of Jama to the widening of the valley at Breg ob Savi. We will end the trail in the gorge Zarica, where at 300 m above sea level grow flowers that grow only in the mountains, high above the forest border.

Vinska klet Osterberger na Ptuju
Vinska klet Osterberger se imenuje po prvih lastnikih hotela, Francu in Constanci Osterberger, ki sta leta 1890 na dražbi kupila hišo in pravico do opravljanja kavarniške obrti. Družina je bila v hotelu do leta 1945, nato je pa lastnica postala država. Spomin na lastnika najdete v valuti fasade, kjer so zapisane inicialke njunih imen F(ranz) C(onstanza) O(sterberger). Danes v stavbi z baročnim pročeljem in zelo zanimivo zgodovino gostuje čudoviti Hotel Mitra. S prenovljeno vinsko kletjo in vinoteko je hotelu uspelo obudil še eno zgodbo, ki je bila močno prisotna v razvoju bogate zapuščine sedanjega hotela in najstarejšega slovenskega mesta Ptuja. Že nekaj let pred in po letu 1900 se je v hotelu odvijala izredno pomembna dejavnost tistega časa, ki jo je vodil Franc Osterberger starejši, ki ni bil le hotelir in kavarnar temveč tudi vinski pridelovalec in vinski veletrgovec, specializiran za vina s haloškega območja.

Grad Strmol na Gorenjskem
Grad Strmol stoji ob vznožju Dvorjanskega hriba pri Cerkljah na Gorenjskem. Prvotni lastniki so bili vitezi Strmolski, po katerih se grad imenuje še danes. Kdaj in kje natančno, se mnenja med strokovnjaki še usklajujejo.
Zadnji lastnik gradu Strmol je bil podjetnik Rado Hribar. Med drugim je imel v lasti ljubljansko tovarno Pletenina in znamenito, še danes živečo, sladko tovarno Šumi. Grad je kupil leta 1936. in ga temeljito prenovil. Hribar je bil strasten zbiratelj umetnin in starin, tako da je grad dodobra opremil s starim pohištvom, umetniškimi slikami, med drugimi je tu visela tudi slavna Kofetarica, slikarke Ivane Kobilca, in številnimi kipi in kipci.
Po drugi vojni so takratne komunistične oblasti grad nacionalizirale, lastnika gradu Rada Hribarja in njegovo ženo Ksenijo pa usmrtili. Njune posmrtne ostanke so odkrili leta 2015 nad vasjo Mače. Po osamosvojitvi Slovenije, so Hribarjevim potomcem grad vrnili. Večina notranje opreme se je ohranila. Grad se uporablja v protokolarne namene, sobe pa oddajajo tudi bogatejšim smrtnikom.

The castle hosts many cultural, historic and entertaining events throughout the year.

Apartment Smučka - among the green forests of Rogla, Slovenia
The apartment Smučka is located in one of the most beautiful ski locations in Slovenia, the Rogla ski resort.
It's in a small village of holiday homes, surrounded with forests and meadows. It is located below the summit of Rogla, 3km away.
The apartment is on two floors and is very spacious (76 square meters). Entrance hall, bathroom and living room with kitchen are on the lower floor and upstairs are three separate sleeping rooms (+ bathroom) for 7 people. Part of the apartment is also a spacious, furnished terrace. The apartment has the possibility of an extra bed for 2 people. Heating is central.
It is 200 meters away from the main road and access is arranged directly in front of the apartment. During the winter, the road is cleared.
