Buzet, Croatia ► Video guide, 3 min. | 4K

Buzet is situated in the very north of Istria near the border with Slovenia. Its historic core, dating from the Middle Ages lies on a hilltop above a fertile valley of the longest Istrian river – the Mirna. Today, Buzet is widely known as the 'City of Truffles' since the forests along the Mirna River are especially rich in this divine tuber. Buzet offers plenty of original local food that is prepared traditionally and in the most modern way in atmospheric taverns and acclaimed restaurants. Lovers of authentic local cuisine will enjoy the home-made pasta or seafood dishes, and you also have the irreplaceable beefsteak with grated truffles.

That other, less crowded and more affordable Tuscany, Croatia's Istrian peninsula has it all. From rolling hills hosting vineyards and olive groves, to a Roman colosseum and beautiful hilltop towns, to one of Croatia's loveliest seaside towns (crowned by a church resembling Venice's St. Marks), there's beauty in all directions. Buzet-Old Town (Istria????????) I March 2023 I 4K #buzet #istria #croatia #strolling #medievaltown

Strolling the quiet alleys of the medieval hilltop town under a clear blue sky

Buzet is a town in northern Istria, population 2339 (2021), located on a hill (153 m) above the Mirna River valley. Over time, a new part of the city developed at the foot of the hill.
Grapes, olives, fruits and vegetables are traditionally grown in the area. The region is also known for its wine production. Buzet is also called the city of truffles.
Buzet and its surroundings have been inhabited continuously since ancient times. Illyrian tribes inhabited this area in the Bronze Age.
From AD 177 to AD 476, the area was under Roman rule, followed by Byzantine rule. After the mass migration of peoples, the Slavs came here.
At the end of the 8th century, Istria was under the rule of the Franks. Buzet recognized the authority of the Patriarch of Aquileia until 1497, and from that year until 1797, it was under the rule of the Venetians.
After the fall of the Venetian Republic, Istria became part of the Austrian Empire and eventually of Austria-Hungary until 1918.

Top 5 Best Waterfalls in Istria , Croatia

In our opinion Top 5 best waterfalls in Istria, Croatia

Kotli Waterfall Buzet , Istria

Kotli is located between the towns of Buzet and Pazin, and its nearest settlement Hum, with only thirty inhabitants. In the Recina valley, the river Mirna made indentations in the limestone, after which this settlement got its name. This amazing place is ideal for swimming, but please keep in mind that during the summer, due to the drought, the pools dry up.

Staza 7 slapova | Buzet | Istra

The best of Istria Croatia

Istria Croatia, also sometimes known as the 'The Croatian Tuscany', has many beautiful landscapes be they on the coast around towns such as Pula, Porec and Rovinj - or around inland rural villages such as Medulin, Oprtalj, Pazin and Buzet. Looking at a map of Istria you will see that the region juts out into the Adriatic sea and therefore is virtually surrounded by water. Visit Istria and you will experience many wonderful sights that will catch your eye such as medieval hilltop villages populated with characteristically Istrian dwellings and Croatian properties, vineyards producing world class wines, glorious countryside famous for its truffles and of course a coastline to suit all tastes.

Buzet and Motovun Croatia 4k 2023

00:03 Buzet Croatia
Od leta 1797 do leta 1813 so si Francozi in Avstrijci podajali celotno ozemlje Istre.
