Entlang der flachen Küste kann man sich eigentlich nicht verirren, aber auch ein ausgeklügeltes, nach Nummern geordnetes Radwegenetz hilft. Ein Muss für jeden Touristen ist ein Besuch in der Stadt Alkmaar, besonders wenn mal wieder der historisch bunt dekorierte Käsemarkt stattfindet. In Broeker Veiling kann man an einer traditionellen Gemüseversteigerung teilnehmen, bei der das Verkaufsgut auf Plattbodenschiffen in den Auktionssaal gefahren wird. Auch für Kinder gibt es auf der Tour viel zu erleben: In Schoorl kommt die Düne mitten ins Dorf hinein, so dass die Kleinen auf der steilen Sandfläche spielen und toben können. Wer die Unterwasserwelt der Nordsee aus nächster Nähe entdecken will, kann das Zee Aquarium besuchen oder an einem Schleppnetz-Kurs am Strand teilnehmen.

10th edition of Dutch Lily Days (DLD-2022) was inaugurated at VWS Flowerbulbs, Broek op Langedijk, The Netherlands on 7th June 2022. The earlier inaugural at VWS was seven years ago in 2015. Dutch growers, Breeders of Lilium and International clients visit the greenhouses of companies and breeder open houses, during these four days (7-10 June 2022), interact and get to see the latest varieties and the ones in pipeline for the next 2-5 years. LAs and TAs were the main attractions this year.

Weekendtrip met de Parel naar Broek op Langedijk 2021 met een bijzondere verrassing
Op 25 september 2021 voeren wij met de Parel naar Broek op Langedijk om daar in de haven te gaan liggen en door Corona sober Virginia haar verjaardag te vieren. Bij aankomst werden we op gevangen door Havemeester Pascal. We moesten aansluiten ivm een evenement wat kwam.
We werden verrast met muziek en Lichtjesavond. Gezelligheid op het water, op 5 locaties muziek die door honderden bootjes werden bezocht. In de sluis van Pascal was het super gezellig. Hopelijk is het er volgend jaar weer maar voor de organisatie hopelijk met meer publiek. Want het was echt heel leuk.

This is old Holland. Very close to Amsterdam (5-10min drive) lies perhaps one of the prettiest villages in the Netherlands, Broek in Waterland. Unique are the many wooden houses which have been very well kept to their original state.
For centuries, the picturesque nature of the village was known even outside the Netherlands and it was praised for its cleanliness. From the 17th century, the town was a popular tourist destination for people from nearby Amsterdam but received foreign guests as well. Napoleon famously came to visit here. Much earlier, Joseph II, the Holy Roman Emperor, visited the village but was refused to enter a farm, allegedly because the woman of the house had no time. ????

Lily: Pot Lily Display @ Dutch Lily Days-2015 (DLD 2015) in VWS, Broek op Langedijk, The Netherlands
The significant aspects of Dutch Lily Days-2015 are that: the inaugural was held at VWS Flowerbulbs, Broek op Langedijk, The Netherlands (Holland), a variety of Tulips was christened by famous floral designer Ms. Sarah Dikker, many new varieties came into grower hands from final trials (Asiatic: Espel, Sylt; Oriental: Nymph), a presentation was organized to highlight Lily in Asia with key note addresses by VWS contacts in India (Dr. K. Valliappan) and Taiwan (Ms. Amy, Formosa), with the talks being covered by Flora Mart Global Magazine and Tulips were displayed in bloom (unusually in June) in a reefer truck, along with a wide range of Pot Liliums (Pixie Series) for the pot plant-cum-nursery industry. Duizend Eilandenrijk - Langedijk
De dorpen Broek, Zuid- en Noord-Scharwoude hadden als bijnaam 'Het rijk der duizend eilanden'; (die naam is nu vereeuwigd in de naam van een nieuwbouwwijk. Het 1000 eilandenrijk is opgedeeld in twee delen, de helft van de grond is teruggegeven aan de natuur en de andere helft bestaat uit eilanden waarop grotendeels (500) alleenstaande woningen zijn gerealiseerd.)
Ten tijde van de varkenspest in de 13e eeuw besloot men om de dieren in quarantaine te stellen. Dit deden de boeren door aparte eilanden te maken. De vruchtbare grond die men overhield bij het maken van de sloten werd gebruikt om het land op te hogen. De verhoging van de vruchtbaarheid was een belangrijke reden om dit eilandenrijk te creëren. Elk eiland heeft een aparte naam.

Wij zijn Pieter en Marieke en sinds 2015 varen we met onze motorboot de Canicula door Nederland. Tijdens onze eerste vaartocht door Overijssel vallen we van de ene verbazing in de andere. Over de imposante bebouwing van Vollenhove, de massieve zeesluis van Blokzijl, het dijkdorp Kuinre. Geweldig! Inmiddels zijn we bijna heel Nederland door gevaren. Om iedereen te laten zien hoe mooi Nederland is vanaf het water, maken we video's van onze vaartochten en schrijven we artikelen over wat we allemaal tegenkomen onderweg. De Canicula is een St. Tropez cabincruiser van negen meter lang, tachtig centimeter diep en ruim twee meter hoog.

Museum Broekerveiling en Rijk der Duizend Eilanden - Langedijk
Nostalgische schuitjes liggen geduldig te wachten om bezoekers mee te nemen door het prachtige Rijk der Duizend Eilanden. Het oude houten gebouw kraakt en schuurt zachtjes tegen het water aan. Maar liefst 1900 houten palen houden het Rijksmonument boven water. Ons prachtige Rijksmonument bestaat uit een afmijnzaal uit 1912 en lighallen uit 1922. De historie ademt door het gebouw. Hier is het allemaal begonnen! Naast het Rijksmonument is het ook mogelijk om onze expositie en het levendige buitenmuseum met boerderijdieren te bezoeken.

Wie Broek in Waterland bezoekt, kan er niet omheen: de geschiedenis van dit dorp gaat eeuwen terug. De houten huizen met pasteltinten, de eeuwenoude Sint-Nicolaaskerk en het waterrijke landschap vertellen de rijke historie van het dorp.

Aesthetic Flowers of Pot Liliums or Pot Lilies are meant for potted plants or gardening use at homes and commercial sales of pot plants. These are compact (40-50 cm height) with 4-5 buds in 10/12 and 12/14 bulb sizes. They are available in both Asiatic (AZP) and Oriental (ORP) types. Now with Asiatic lilies and Orientals are getting hybridised into LAs and OTs, the old world charm of Asiatics and Orientals, with bright colours, long vase life, more buds in small bulbs, travel well to markets and most of all, stand as good substitutes for Asiatic varieties that are going / gone extinct in White (Navona), Orange (Elite, Brunello, Tresor), Yellow (Dreamland) etc
