24 Hours in Bucharest, Romania - First Impressions
Just spent 24 hours in Bucharest, Romania. Hardly enough time to really lose myself in the city. However, I did wander around enough to gather some impressions of this historic and unique town in Southeastern Europe. In this video I give you my first impressions, including my LOVES and HATES of Bucharest.
A Tour of Bran (DRACULA) Castle / Transylvania / Romania [ 4K ]
Bran, also known as Dracula's Castle is Romania’s most visited landmark. It is located in the village of Bran, about 30 km from Brasov. The video shows a tour of Dracula castle.
The Castle owes its fame to its history, imposing towers, and the myth created around Bram Stocker's fictitious character Dracula.
It's widely believed that Vlad III Dracula (Wallachian Prince), known by the nickname Vlad the Impaler, has served as an inspiration for Stoker’s character, Count Dracula. In 1992, it was released Bram Stoker's Dracula horror film directed and produced by Francis Ford Coppola.
Since Bran Castle is the only castle in Transylvania that fits Bram Stoker’s description of Dracula’s Castle, it has gained the fame of being Dracula’s Castle.
However, Bran Castle was not home of Vlad III. It is believed that he might have never been at that place. The real residence of Vlad III Dracula is the castle Poenari, in the county of Arges, Romania. The castle has long been abandoned, now it's in ruins.
Today, Bran is open as a museum, largely devoted to Queen Marie, the British wife of King Ferdinand I of Romania. From 1920 to 1948 Bran Castle served as a royal residence. You will see on display art and furniture collected by Queen Marie.
You can also buy extra tickets to see the medieval torture instruments exhibition and the Time tunnel where an interesting multimedia show is played.

Brașov is located in the central part of the country, about 166 km (103 mi) north of Bucharest and 380 km (236 mi) from the Black Sea. It is surrounded by the Southern Carpathians and is part of the historical region of Transylvania.
The city is notable for being the regional capital of the Transylvanian Saxons of the Burzenland (Romanian: Țara Bârsei) administrative area in the past, and a large commercial hub on the trade roads between East and West. It is also the birthplace of the national anthem of Romania.

Today we're visiting in of Europe's most underrated cities - Brasov! When researching where we wanted to go in Romania, visiting Brasov was a no brainer. What was ALSO a no brainer was staying in a Dracula themed hotel! Out of things to do in Brasov, Romania, staying the night in a castle seemed like a no brainer!
Once we got to Brasov, we went to dinner, where we tried some traditional Romanian and Transylvanian dishes. We'll be making a food tour video dedicated to all of our food in Romania, so watch out for that!
We drove into Brasov from Sinaia, where we just visited Peles Castle! We LOVE castles, so it's no surprise that we're jumping from one castle to the next. This was by far the most unique hotel we've ever stayed in. After having dinner in downtown Brasov, we headed up the mountain to Poiana Brasov - where our castle hotel was. We went to bed since it was pretty late, but decided to do a full tour of the castle hotel because it was that unique!
