Belgium, Best Places To Visit - Reading Between the lines church | Doorkijkkerk .
The church is 10 meters high and is made of 100 layers and 2000 columns of steel. Depending on the perspective of the viewer, the church may either perceived as a massive building or seems to dissolve - partly or entirely - in the landscape.
Completed in 2011, Reading Between the lines is a project by the duo Gijs Vaerenbergh, a collaboration between young Belgian architects Pieterjan Gijs and Arnout Van Varenbergh

HASPENGOUW - een bloesemwandeling van 10,4 km in Borgloon
In april, als de fruitbomen in bloei staan, verandert Haspengouw in één kleurrijke bloesemzee. Sprookjesachtige witte en roze bloesems van peren- en appelbomen. Het is een zeer bijzonder natuurfenomeen dat maar op enkele plekken in de wereld voorkomt. In die periode is het in de fruitstreek zeer druk door de vele wandelaars en fietsers die komen genieten van dit prachtig uitzicht. Van mei tot en met oktober oogsten de fruittelers dan hun fruit dat ze ook naar andere landen uitvoeren. De meeste fruittelers vind je tussen Borgloon en Sint-Truiden.
0.45' : leuk bedacht voor kinderen...een speelboomgaard.
2.00' : In Borgloon toont Fred Eerdekens (BE) een geplooide lijn in het landschap. Je ziet een houtachtige sculptuur waarin je, enkel wanneer je vanuit de juiste positie kijkt, het woord ‘twijfelgrens’ kan lezen. Sta je op een ander plaats, dan blijft dit een gewone geplooide lijn.
2.40' : Op de Bollenberg in Borgloon ligt het landmark Romeins villalandschap. Dit ontwerp van kunstenaar Hans Lemmen doet je even stilstaan bij het belang van Haspengouw en haar unieke landschap voor de Romeinen.
3.52' : Het centrum van Borgloon. De huidige stad is in 1977 ontstaan door fusie van 12 oude gemeenten, en telt ruim 11.000 inwoners. In deze streek zijn sporen te vinden van de Romeinse overheersing en activiteit rond (58 voor Chr.) Hier liep ook de heirbaan die Tongeren verbond met Aachen.
4.30'' : Eén van de absolute blikvangers in Borgloon is het doorkijkkerkje van het Belgische architectenduo Gijs Van Vaerenbergh. Reading between the Lines is 10 meter hoog en bestaat uit 100 op elkaar gestapelde lagen staalplaat in de vorm van een Loons kerkje. De constructie weegt maar liefst 30 ton. De speciale constructiewijze zorgt er voor dat het landschap altijd zichtbaar blijft doorheen de kerk, zowel van op afstand als van dichtbij. Het kerkjes is hierdoor wel aanwezig, maar ook afwezig in het landschap.
In April, when the fruit trees are in bloom, Haspengouw ( Belgium) changes into one colorful sea of blossom. Fairytale white and pink blossoms from pear and apple trees. It is a very special natural phenomenon that only occurs in a few places in the world. During that period it is very busy in the fruit region because of the many walkers and cyclists who come to enjoy this beautiful view. From May to October, the fruit growers harvest their fruit that they also export to other countries. Most fruit growers can be found between Borgloon and Sint-Truiden.

Im April, wenn die Obstbäume blühen, verwandelt sich Haspengouw in ein buntes Blütenmeer. Märchenhafte weiße und rosa Blüten von Birnen- und Apfelbäumen. Es ist ein ganz besonderes Naturphänomen, das nur an wenigen Orten der Welt auftritt. Während dieser Zeit ist es in der Obstregion wegen der vielen Wanderer und Radfahrer, die kommen, um diese schöne Aussicht zu genießen, sehr beschäftigt. Von Mai bis Oktober ernten die Obstbauern ihre Früchte, die sie auch in andere Länder exportieren. Die meisten Obstbauern befinden sich zwischen Borgloon und Sint-Truiden.
En avril, lorsque les arbres fruitiers sont en fleurs, Haspengouw ( Belgique )se transforme en une mer de fleurs colorée. Fleurs blanches et roses de conte de fées de poiriers et de pommiers. C'est un phénomène naturel très spécial qui ne se produit que dans quelques endroits dans le monde. Pendant cette période il y a beaucoup de monde dans la région fruitière à cause des nombreux marcheurs et cyclistes qui viennent profiter de cette belle vue. De mai à octobre, les fruiticulteurs récoltent leurs fruits qu'ils exportent également vers d'autres pays. La plupart des producteurs de fruits se trouvent entre Borgloon et Saint-Trond.

Het doorkijkkerkje in Borgloon
Aan het doorkijkkerk namen we de tijd om wat foto’s te nemen van dit roestbruine kunstwerk in het Haspengouwse heuvelland ten zuiden van Borgloon
Het geheel is opgebouwd uit horizontale cortenstaalplaten, verbonden door gelaste vierkantige plaatjes en is mooi ingepland in het glooiend Loonse landschap.

Winter aerial footage over the Read Between The Lines Church in Borgloon, Limburg, Belgium.
Doorkijkkerk was designed by Belgian architects Pieterjan Gijs and Arnout Van Vaerenbergh and built in 2011. Doorkijkkerk is constructed from 100 stacked layers of weathered steel plates (30 tons) with gaps between them that you can see through, making the church aptly named. Every angle gives you a different perspective of the church, seemingly dissolving into the landscape in one moment and merging into a solid building in the next.

The Transparent Church of Borgloon
In 2011 Gijs Van Vaerenbergh revealed a construction in the rural landscape of Borgloon (Limburg, Belgium) that’s based on the design of the local church. This construction consists of 30 tons of steel and 2000 columns, and is built on a fundament of armed concrete. Through the use of horizontal plates, the concept of the traditional church is transformed into a transparent object of art.
