Bogra is home to Mahasthangarh, the earliest known urban archaeological site in Bangladesh, as well as the village of Mahasthan in Shibganj thana of Bogra District. This site contains the remains of Pundranagara (or Paundravardhanapura), an ancient city in the territory of Pundravardhana.[9][10][11] This place is considered sacred to Buddhists, Muslims, and Hindus alike.[12] Pilgrims and visitors tour the area all year round.

Bogra District Information
Bogura is a District of Rajshahi Division in Bangladesh. It is the nerve center of Northern Bangladesh. Bogra is a bridge between the Rajshahi Division and Rangpur Division. Bogra was a part of the old Pundravardhana territory. It was the capital of Pundravardhana. The notable personality of Bagura is Prafulla Chaki (1888–1908) and former prime minister of Pakistan Mohammad Ali Bogra.

বগুড়া বাংলাদেশের উত্তরবঙ্গের বগুড়া জেলার একটি শিল্প ও বাণিজ্যিক শহর। এটি রাজশাহী বিভাগ-এর অন্তর্গত একটি গুরুত্বপূর্ণ শহর। বগুড়া শহরে শহীদ চান্দু স্টেডিয়াম নামে একটি আন্তর্জাতিক মানের ক্রিকেট স্টেডিয়াম রয়েছে; এছাড়া শহীদ জিয়াউর রহমান মেডিকেল কলেজ (শজিমেক) শহর থেকে সামান্য দূরেই অবস্থিত। বগুড়া দইয়ের জন্য খুব বিখ্যাত। বগুড়া শহরে থেকে ১১ কি.মি. উত্তরে মহাস্থানগড় অবস্থিত, যা একসময় প্রাচীন বাংলার রাজধানী ছিল এবং সেসময় পুণ্ড্রনগর নামে পরিচিত ছিল। বাংলাদেশের মুক্তিযুদ্ধের ১ নং সেক্টরের সেক্টর কমান্ডার এবং জেড ফোর্সের প্রধান মেজর জিয়াউর রহমান বগুড়া জেলার গাবতলী উপজেলায় জন্মগ্রহণ করেন। বগুড়াকে উত্তরবঙ্গের রাজধানী ও প্রবেশদ্বার বলা হয়। বগুড়া উত্তরবঙ্গের অন্যতম প্রধান শহর ।
ইতিহাস থেকে জানা যায় বাংলার প্রাচীনতম একটি নগরী বগুড়া। মৌর্যযুগে এটি পুণ্ড্রবর্ধন নামে পরিচিত ছিল। বগুড়ার প্রাচীন নাম পৌণ্ড্রবর্ধন ও এটি বরেন্দ্রভূমি বলে খ্যাত অঞ্চলের অংশবিশেষ। আজকের রাজশাহীও এই অঞ্চলভুক্ত ছিল। অঞ্চলটি ৯ থেকে ১২ শতক সেন রাজাদের দ্বারা শাসিত হয়। পরে ১৩শ শতকের শুরুতে তা মুসলিম শাসকদের অধীনে আসে। ১৩শ শতকের শুরুতে এই এলাকা মুসলিম শাসকদের হাতে যায়। তারপরও সেন বংশের নৃপতিরা সামন্তপ্রধান হিসাবে প্রায় ১০০ বছর শাসনকার্য চালায়। এরপর অচ্যুত সেনের আচরণে রাগান্বিত হয়ে গৌড়ের বাহাদুর শাহ (?-১৫৩৭) সেনদের বিতাড়িত করেন। ১৯৭১ সালে মুক্তিযুদ্ধের সময় বগুড়া ৭ নং সেক্টরের অধীনে ছিল।
বগুড়া শহর বগুড়া জেলার মধ্যভাগে করতোয়া নদীর কোল ঘেঁষে অবস্থিত। করতোয়া নদী উত্তর থেকে দক্ষিণে প্রবাহিত হয়ে বগুড়াকে দুই ভাগে বিভক্ত করেছে। বগুড়ার উত্তরে গাইবান্ধা ও জয়পুরহাট জেলা পশ্চিমে নওগাঁ জেলা, দক্ষিনে সিরাজগঞ্জ জেলা এবং পুর্বে যমুনা নদী ।
বগুড়া শহরের ১১ কি.মি. অদূরে মহাস্থানগড় অবস্থিত। এখানে পূর্বে রাজা পরশুরামের রাজ্য ছিল। এখানে বেহুলা-লখিন্দরের বাসর ঘর ও গোবিন্দ ভিটা রয়েছে; আছে জাদুঘরও। বগুড়া শহরে রয়েছে নওয়াব প্যালেস; যা ব্রিটিশ আমলে নীলকুঠি নামে পরিচিত ছিল। এখানে থাকার জন্য রয়েছে চার তারকা বিশিষ্ট হোটেল নাজ গার্ডেন এবং পাঁচ তারকা হোটেল মম ইন।
সুফি, মারাঠি, লালন ইত্যাদি নিয়ে বগুড়ার সংস্কৃতি অত্যন্ত সমৃদ্ধ। বগুড়া থেকে প্রকাশিত কয়েকটি আঞ্চলিক পত্রিকার মধ্যে আছে দৈনিক করতোয়া,দৈনিক আজ ও আগামীকাল, দৈনিক উত্তরকোণ, দৈনিক বগুড়া, দৈনিক চাঁদনি বাজার, দৈনিক উত্তরাঞ্চল ইত্যাদি উল্লেখযোগ্য। এখানকার মরিচ ও দই খুব বিখ্যাত।

Gokul Medh is an archaeological site in Bangladesh. It is an excavated mound in the village of Gokul under Shibganj Upazila of Bogra. It is known locally as Behula Lakshindarer Basar Ghar, and it is also popularly called Lakshindar Medh. It is about 2 km (1.2 mi) southwest of Mahasthangarh citadel and 12 km (7.5 mi) far from Bogra town.

North Bengal Tour in Bogra to visit Behula Lakhindar Bashor Ghor and Mahasthan garh Bogra. This is our most precious travel story of Bogra city and we visited Behula Lakhindar Bashor Ghor, Mahasthan garh Bogra, and Bogra historical places.
To complete the North Bengal tour we started our journey from Panchagarh and the last district was Bogra to visit. After completion of tour at Tetulia Panchagarh, Dinajpur City, and Saidpur city we reached at Bogra at midnight.
We have faced a tough time while we were searching Residential Hotel at Bogra city in Char Matha Mor. Finally, we were able to find Hotel Marina near Char Matha Mor, Bogra. And the rent was very low around TK 800 fot one night.
On the next morning we have completed our breakfast at Hotel Akboria Bogra. And then we went to Bogra Thonthonia bus Station for the return ticket to Dhaka. And Then we started our journey to visit Behula Lakhindar Bashor Ghor, Mahasthan garh Bogra and historical areas of Bogra tourist places.
At first we went to Mahasthangarh Bogra and to go there we hired a rickshaw from Thonthonia bus station to Datta Bari and then we went to Mahasthan by local CNG from Datta Bari Bogra. Finally we hired an engine van to visit Mahasthangarh Bogra from Mahasthan CNG stattion.
Mahasthangarh is really a nice place to visit. After enjoying the nice scenic beauty of Large historical area Mahasthan Garh Bogra we went to Behula Lakhindar Bashor Ghor by local Auto/Tomtom at Gokul Medh Bogra.
Basically, this was our most enjoyed travel story of North Bengal Bangladesh.
