18/Sep/2020. Walk: Adlington - Blackrod and more!
This video could also be titled; “The least likely place to visit by train”. During the walk from Adlington to Blackrod I had lunch at Bolton West services despite not having or arriving by car!
I later walked from Bryn to Garswood, Mossley Hill to West Allerton and finally Sankey for Penketh to Warrington West. By chance I did Sankey for Penketh back in December walking the opposite direction from Warrington West. If I’d had to wait for the train I got off I’d have been waiting approx. two hours! Luckily, there was a train in the station waiting at the red signal and the conductor allowed me to get on. This time I did it officially and in daylight!
As things stand now I’ve still got three more GMPTE stations to tick off: Gathurst, Ince and Orrell.

Black 5's 45212 & 45407 in the guise of long scrapped 45157 The Glasgow Highlander are seen at Blackrod on Saturday morning approx 30 mins later heading for Preston , Later in the evening we see 45157 heading to Manchester at Blackrod station
Station Rd Bridge Blackrod - sunken new road surface
This bridge is a brand new replacement and only opened two days ago. Network Rail did a very good job in getting it open on time, but the United Utilities valve covers have been set too low resulting in a dip in the road surface just as you drive off the bridge.
Beautiful Views, Memorials and TV Crews - Victoria Tower Gardens
In this video we go to a park that feels in the middle of the Palace of Westminster. Sandwiched between the Houses of Parliament and Lambeth Bridge, Victoria Tower Gardens gives fantastic views and a children's play area.
The park is Grade 2 listed plus also has more memorials than any other park around. This is also a place to see the TV camera crews of the world interview politicians - see if you find anyone you recognise!

Grays of Westminster at the House of Lords
13th February 2010 was an historic day for Nikon Owner members.
This unique event was sponsored by the world famous London-based Nikon-only shop Grays of Westminster and hosted by Britain's highest decorated press photographer, Mike Maloney, with the permission of Black Rod -- a senior officer in the House of Lords, responsible for security, controlling access to and maintaining order within the House and its precincts.
The photographers attending competed to win a Nikon D300s camera worth £1,600 -- to be awarded to the attendee who takes the best shot of the day, and the opportunity for the top images to be used by the House of Lords Works of Art Committee. It was indeed a magical, historic event that will stay in the hearts and minds of the lucky few who where given this rare and unique opportunity.

Here are some scenes from the crowds outside The Palace of Westminster at the State Opening of Parliament 2022.
For the first time since 1963, the Queen did not attend this year's state opening. Her place was taken by Prince Charles.
After the ceremony you can see Prince Charles leaving in the first car, along with Prince William in the second car and the royal regalia - the Imperial State Crown, the Cap of Maintenance and Sword of State - in the final set of cars.
The mounted officers and troopers will be joined by the Band of the Scots Guards, directed by Major Tony Williams, who will provide musical accompaniment.
