Abandoned UK Cold War ROC Posts - Underground Bunkers!

A selection of a few abandoned ROC posts, one in great condition, and the others not so much. Filmed in June 2020.

Some info...

Royal Observer Corps Monitoring Posts are underground structures all over the United Kingdom, constructed as a result of the Corps' nuclear reporting role and operated by volunteers during the Cold War between 1955 and 1991.

In all but a very few instances, the posts were built to a standard design consisting of a 14-foot-deep access shaft, a toilet/store and a monitoring room.

Luton ,Harpenden and St Alban's (4K) | A 30 KM walk | England | UK

Solo walk from Luton to st. Albans Lea Valley. It is a long-distance walk along cycle route 6. This is the 18.25-mile section from the Luton to St.Albans via Harpenden. The best views on this walk come in the second half between Luton and Harpenden, between Childwickbury Hertfordshire to St.Albans. Though I thought to do Luton to London but got up late around 9 AM and started around 10:15 AM from home. So just did till St.Albans. And I realized I need to practice more before attempting Luton to London, which is around 70-80 km.

Bike Ride along Bridgewater Canal From Pennington Flash to Boothstown, Worsley in 4K

The Bridgewater Canal is sometimes described as England’s first canal.

Named after its owner, Francis Egerton the third Duke of Bridgewater who built the Canal to transport coal from his mines at Worsley to the industrial areas of Manchester, the Bridgewater Canal was the forerunner of canal networks.

Opened on 17th July 1761, the Bridgewater Canal has a special place in history as the first canal in Britain to be built without following an existing watercourse, and so became a model for those that followed it.

Affectionately known as the “Dukes Cut” the Bridgewater Canal revolutionised transport in this country and marked the beginning of the golden canal era which followed from 1760 to 1830.

The Bridgewater Canal is a 65km (39 miles) canal stretching from Runcorn to Leigh in the North West of England.

The Canal is also a strategic link between the North and South canal network and features the well-known Barton Swing Aqueduct which passes over the Manchester Ship Canal.

For details of the Bridgewater canal, please visit

The bike ride is from Pennington Flash to the east 6 miles Boothstown, Worsley in one evening in June 2019. It took 25 minutes to get to the Boothstown.

I hope you will enjoy the bike ride and if you don't want to miss my upcoming new videos, please subscribe to my channel here.

Wigan walking tour 4k [2021] (England, UK city walk in Wigan)

Join us for this virtual Wigan walking tour.
Wigan is a large town in Greater Manchester, England, on the River Douglas, 10 miles south-west of Bolton, 16 miles (25.7 km) northwest of Manchester. Within the former boundaries of the historic county of Lancashire, Wigan is the largest settlement in the Metropolitan Borough of Wigan and its administrative centre. The town has a population of 103,608, and the wider borough of 318,100.
Wigan was in the territory of the Brigantes, an ancient Celtic tribe that ruled much of what is now northern England. The Brigantes were subjugated in the Roman conquest of Britain and the Roman settlement of Coccium established where Wigan lies.

Wigan was incorporated as a borough in 1246, following the issue of a charter by King Henry III of England. At the end of the Middle Ages, it was one of four boroughs in Lancashire established by Royal charter.

The Industrial Revolution saw a dramatic economic expansion and rapid rise in population. Wigan became a major mill town and coal mining district; at its peak, there were 1,000 pit shafts within 5 miles of the town centre. Coal mining ceased in the later 20th century.

Wigan Pier, a wharf on the Leeds and Liverpool Canal, was made famous by the writer George Orwell. In his book The Road to Wigan Pier, Orwell highlighted the poor working and living conditions of inhabitants in the 1930s. Following the decline of heavy industry, Wigan Pier's warehouses and wharves became a local heritage centre and cultural quarter. The DW Stadium is home to Wigan Athletic Football Club and Wigan Warriors Rugby League Football Club.

20030830 England and Scotland Dutton to Billinge Green Flash

In August and September of 2003 my wife and I travelled to England and Scotland for three weeks. These videos document that trip which included a week on a narrowboat cruising the Trent and Mersey canal, a drive across Scotland to see the Falkirk Wheel, the Forth Rail Bridge, Edinburgh Castle, the Harrison clock at Brocklesby Park, Cambridge University, the Royal Observatory at Greenwich, and a bit of London.

Our first day traveling on the canal, from Dutton to Billinge Green Flash. On the way we visited the Anderton Boat Lift.
