Wandel door het Bertembos en Eikenbos en enkele omliggende velden ten noorden van de Voervallei.
Bezoek de Sint-Pieterskerk in het dorpscentrum, dit gebedshuis is één van de mooiste getuigenissen van de landelijke Romaanse bouwkunst uit het begin van de 11e eeuw.
Houd onderweg ook zeker even halt aan speelbos 't Vossenhol, hier kunnen kinderen klimmen, ravotten, slingeren... met natuurlijke spelelementen.
Kuier langs schilderachtige holle wegen.
Snuif de geur op van de bosanemonen in het vroege voorjaar.

When we arrived at “Domaine Provincial du Fourneau St-Michel” the two museums (Musée du fer and Musée de plein air) were closed, so we decided to go for a 9km hike in the forrest.
We followed a hiking path marked with a “red squares”…
The movie is the result of this hike…you will see forrest, and trees and more forrest…

Fun Hike in Chaumont-Gistoux Belgium
This hike will make you discover the region of the sources of the Train, the valley of the Ry des Papeteries. Started from the Ferme du Château de Corroy-le-Grand it is a former fortified farm-castle overlooking the Train Valley. It is also an old Brabant brick farmhouse on a rubble base, which was in the possession of Charles de Rolly in 1610 and a property of the Dorlodot family in 1854. There is 1 large square courtyard, opened to the north by a brick dovecote porch on a sandstone base.

Zoutleeuw en het Vinne - een lentewandeling van 10,5 km
Het grootste natuurlijke binnenmeer van Vlaanderen (meer dan 100 ha), dat vind je in natuurgebied en provinciedomein Het Vinne, in Zoutleeuw, in de provincie Vlaams-Brabant. Het meer is een trekpleister voor broed- en trekvogels. Hier beleef je de natuur ten volle dankzij de wandelpaden, knuppelpaden, uitkijktorens en vogel- en schuilhutten.
Tot 2003 was er die plaats van het meer een grote populierenplantage. Die werden allen gekapt. Men liet de boomstronken echter steken, en dat bleek later een grote vergissing. De plaats kwam op natuurlijke wijze onder water te staan. Later bleek dat al het organische afval dat in het meer achterbleef, een sterke algengroei veroorzaakte en dat deed op zijn beurt het zuurstofpeil in het water sterk dalen. Met als triest hoogtepunt 2015, toen blauwalgen een grote vissterfte veroorzaakten. De provincie Vlaams-Brabant besliste daarom om het meer leeg te pompen en het eens en voor altijd grondig schoon te maken. Dat gebeurde vanaf 2019. De hele schoonmaakoperatie duurde langer dan verwacht, en daardoor was het broedseizoen 2020 niet schitterend. We zijn 2021, het meer is volledig schoon gemaakt en staat terug vol water. Het Vinne is helemaal terug en ook de vogels. De mensen ook, en men kan er weer wandelen en genieten van de fauna en flora.
Wij stappen vanaf het Vinne naar het kleine stadje Zoutleeuw (8000 inwoners), met het riviertje de Kleine Gete. In 1312 werd Zoutleeuw een van de zeven vrije steden van het hertogdom Brabant. De stad was bekend om zijn lakenindustrie. Het Leeuwse laken werd in het Maas- en Rijnland en in Engeland en Frankrijk verhandeld. Tot in de 16e eeuw heette de stad eenvoudigweg Leeuw. Het was ook de havenstad waar klipzout uit de Vogezen werd ingevoerd. Een klein maar mooi plaatsje om te bezoeken en om rustig te genieten.

tractorparade in Merchtem Peizegem
2de Verlichte Tractorparade door Groot-Merchtem
Vandaag, op 10 december 2022 trok voor de tweede maal een verlichte tractorparade door de straten van Groot-Merchtem. Start om 18:00 u in Peizegem - Leireken. Aankomst voorzien rond 21u aan de Feestzaal-Brussegem . Het was de moeite waard. Wij gingen een kijkje nemen bij voor en bij het vertrek.

2nd Illuminated Tractor Parade through Groot-Merchtem
Today, on 10 December 2022 an illuminated tractor parade passed through the streets of Groot-Merchtem for the second time. Start at 6pm in Peizegem - Leireken. Arrival scheduled around 21h at the Feestzaal-Brussegem . It was worth the effort. We went to have a look at before and at departure.

Zomeren in Kampenhout
Overal in de provincie Vlaams-Brabant zijn er prachtige wandelingen die je kan ontdekken met verschillende leuke hotspots. Deze keer gaan we langs bij Brouwerij van Campenhout in Kampenhout en hun streekbier bij uitstek: Witlov.
Vossem-Tervuren-Duisburg : een eindejaarswandeling 2020
Van het centrum van Vossem ( Vlaams-Brabant) volg je het riviertje de Voer langs een klein, groen pad tot aan de Vossemvijver. Langs de vijvers gaat het verder tot in het Warandepark, met het Afrikamuseum. Langs de rand van Tervuren, wandelen wij door het Tervurenbos en langs het Hagelandse leemplateau gaan we tot aan de rand van het dorp Duisburg, en langs holle wegen terug naar onze startplaats: Vossem. Een wandeling van 12,6 km.
Depuis le centre de Vossem (Brabant flamand), vous suivez le ruisseau Voer le long d'un petit sentier vert jusqu'au l' étang de Vossem. Nous marchons plus loin le long des étangs, jusqu'au Warandepark, avec le musée de l'Afrique. Nous continuons notre marche depuis Tervuren, et nous marchons à travers le forêt de Tervuren et le long du plateau de limon de Hageland nous nous dirigeons vers le bord du village de Duisburg, et le long de routes creuses pour retourner à notre point de départ: Vossem. Une promenade de 12,6 km.
From the center of Vossem (Flemish Brabant in Belgium) you follow the river Voer along a small, green path to the Vossem pond. It continues along the ponds to the Royal Park, with the Africa Museum. Along the edge of Tervuren, we walk through the Tervuren forest and along the Hageland loam plateau we walk to the village Duisburg, and along hollow roads back to our starting place: Vossem. A walk of 12.6 km.
