Vandaag (10 januari 2020) namen we de bus naar Brussel. Na een uurtje op de bus te hebben doorgebracht kwamen we eindelijk aan in Brussel.
Brussel is de hoofdstad van België, van de Vlaamse Gemeenschap, de Franse Gemeenschap en het Brussels Hoofdstedelijk Gewest. Is de moeite om eens gaan te bezoeken.

Op wandel door Buggenhoutbos
Deze namiddag (08-10-2012) stond er een flinke wandeling in ons mooie Buggenhout bos op de agenda, en wijle weg. Gaan jullie mee op wandel?
Het Buggenhoutbos ligt in de gemeente Buggenhout in de Belgische provincie Oost-Vlaanderen. Het hedendaagse Buggenhoutbos is een overblijfsel van een uitgestrekt boscomplex van duizenden hectaren groot. Dit complex was zelfs een deel van het vroegere Kolenwoud, dat het gehele centrum van België bedekte.

This afternoon (08-10-2012), a long walk in our beautiful Buggenhout forest was on the agenda. Are you coming along for the walk?
The Buggenhout forest is located in the municipality of Buggenhout in the Belgian province of East Flanders. The present Buggenhout forest is a remnant of a vast forest complex of thousands of hectares. This complex was even part of the former Coal Forest, which covered the entire centre of Belgium.

Een dagje vertoeven in Antwerpen
Deze morgen namen we de trein voor een dagje Antwerpen. Het was al een paar jaartjes geleden door de Coronatijden. Nu vonden we dat het tijd was om deze mooie diamantstad nog eens te gaan bezoeken. Het was vandaag de eerste dag van de lente en het was een zalig weertje. De zon was van de partij en de hemel helderblauw, dus onze dag kon niet meer stuk. Tegen het naar huis gaan, hadden we er een flinke wandeling van 14 km opzitten.
Antwerpen is een stad in het Vlaams Gewest in België. Het is de hoofdstad van de provincie Antwerpen en van het gelijknamige arrondissement. Antwerpen telt circa 529.000 inwoners en is daarmee qua inwonertal de grootste gemeente van België.
Antwerpen is een diamantstad en is de tweede grootste haven van Europa.

Eng: This morning we took the train for a day trip to Antwerp. It had been a few years due to the Corona times. Now we thought it was time to visit this beautiful diamond city again. Today was the first day of spring and the weather was lovely. The sun was out and the sky was a clear blue, so our day was complete. By the time we got home, we had done a good 14 km walk.
Antwerp is a city in the Flemish Region of Belgium. It is the capital of the province of Antwerp and of the arrondissement of the same name. Antwerp has approximately 529,000 inhabitants, making it the largest municipality in Belgium in terms of population.

Mechelen is een stad in de Belgische provincie Antwerpen. Mechelen ligt pal tussen (en dichtbij) Antwerpen en Brussel,aan de rivier de Dijle en is dus ideaal als uitvalsbasis voor allebei: 20 minuten sporen en je bent er. De stad heeft een lange geschiedenis, maar heeft veel meer te bieden dan alleen traditie. De Financial Times noemde Mechelen een van de 10 Europese steden van de toekomst. Die eer hebben we te danken aan onze vele jonge, goed opgeleide inwoners. En wist je dat er gratis wifi is voor iedereen? Overal!

Dendermonde is een stad in de Belgische provincie Oost-Vlaanderen. De stad ligt in de driehoek Gent-Brussel-Antwerpen, een van de meest verstedelijkte gebieden van het land. Het is de hoofdplaats van het arrondissement Dendermonde en ligt in de Denderstreek. Alle 10 jaar gaat het Ros Beiaard uit in deze stad. In 2020 is het spijtig genoeg niet kunnen doorgaan door de Coronacrisis.

Berlare : aan het Donkmeer
Deze namiddag maakten we een uitstapje naar het Donkmeer in Berlare.
Er was daar juist een Food Truck Festival aan de gang met
muziek. Ons kleinzoontje heeft zijn hartje opgehaald in de vernieuwde speeltuin.
De gemeente Berlare ontvangt op 10, 11 en 12 september 2021 het Food Truck Festival 'Kantien Royal' op het grasplein achter de Festivalhal.
Kantien Royal biedt gedurende drie dagen een fijne selectie van de beste 'rollende keukentjes', hippe drankjes, muziek en véél meer .
Snuif de sfeer op van de wereldse keuken en geniet van een sympathiek decor met een hippe soundtrack op de achtergrond.
Wat kan je verwachten:

music. Our grandson had a great time in the renovated playground.

Berlare (B) I het Donkmeer
Het Donkmeer is een meer in de Belgische gemeente Berlare, gelegen tussen de dorpen Overmere, Uitbergen en Berlare-centrum. Aan de noordoostelijke kant van het meer ligt het gelijknamige gehucht Donk.
Het Donkmeer is gekend in heel Vlaanderen en zet Berlare op de toeristische kaart voor daguitstappen. Rond het Donkmeer vind je heel wat tavernes en restaurants. De streekspecialiteit is paling.
Je kan er ook terecht voor allerlei andere activiteiten: kuieren, wandelen en fietsen. Zelf bootje varen op het meer of je laten overzetten naar de Eendenkooi: je kiest maar. Ook vissers komen hier aan hun trekken. En voor mensen die graag een marktje doen, is er eveneens goed nieuws: van april tot eind september is er elke zondagnamiddag markt.

ENG. Lake Donk is a lake in the Belgian municipality of Berlare, located between the villages of Overmere, Uitbergen and Berlare center. On the northeast side of the lake lies the homonymous hamlet of Donk.
The Donk Lake is known throughout Flanders and puts Berlare on the tourist map for day trips. Around the Donk lake you will find many taverns and restaurants. The local specialty is eel.
You can also go there for all sorts of other activities: strolling, walking and cycling. You can even take a boat out on the lake or let it ferry you to the duck decoy. Anglers will also get their money's worth here. And for people who like to do a market, there is also good news: from April to late September there is a market every Sunday afternoon.

FR. Le lac Donk est un lac de la commune belge de Berlare, situé entre les villages d'Overmere, d'Uitbergen et de Berlare-centre. Sur le côté nord-est du lac se trouve le hameau homonyme de Donk.
Le lac Donk est connu dans toute la Flandre et place Berlare sur la carte touristique pour les excursions d'une journée. Autour du lac Donk, vous trouverez de nombreuses tavernes et restaurants. La spécialité locale est l'anguille.
Vous pouvez également vous y rendre pour toutes sortes d'autres activités : promenade, randonnée et cyclisme. Vous pouvez même prendre un bateau sur le lac ou le laisser vous conduire au leurre. Les pêcheurs en auront également pour leur argent ici. Et pour les personnes qui aiment faire un marché, il y a aussi de bonnes nouvelles : d'avril à fin septembre, il y a un marché tous les dimanches après-midi.

Anche i pescatori avranno i loro soldi qui. E per chi ama fare un mercato, c'è anche una buona notizia: da aprile a fine settembre c'è un mercato ogni domenica pomeriggio.

BERLARE : KASTEELPARKWANDELROUTE DEEL 2
Deze namiddag zijn we nogmaals naar Berlare getrokken om te wandelen, want we vonden het daar zo prachtig. Enkele dagen geleden hadden we de route al gedaan, maar onze gsm's waren plat en had ik geen fotootjes meer kunnen nemen. Dus hebben we nog een stukje overgedaan.
We starten in het kasteelpark van Berlare voor een gevarieerde trip door de Scheldenatuur. Het ene moment staan we duidelijk onder het Scheldeniveau. Even later maken we ons op voor een stevige klim door de duinen die de rivier eeuwen geleden in de bocht van Berlare deed ontstaan.

De route is bewegwijzerd met wandelknooppunten en is 10,5 km. Volg deze knooppunten: 23-22-21-20-44-43-56-55-53-52-50-49-46-51-47-19-18-16-15-22-23

Berlare Volksfeest Honderdjarige
Een groot volksfeest werd in Berlare op 2 juli 1989 georganiseerd voor de viering van de honderdjarige Cyriel.

A 64Km de Bruselas en la Región Valona se encuentra la ciudad de Mons. Mons es una ciudad pequeña, apenas llega a los 100.000 habitantes, pero su situación geográfica la convirtió en el escenario de muchos acontecimientos capitales de la historia de Europa fruto de los cuales esta ciudad goza de un importante un legado arquitectónico.
Grand Hornu es una de las visitas imprescindibles de la Región Valona y está intimamente ligado a la historia de Bélgica. La historia de este lugar comienza en 1816 cuando el industrial minero Henri De Gorge compra estos terrenos para extraer carbón. En torno a la explotación minera diseñó una ciudad industrial, construyendo 435 casas para los obreros que mantuvieron la actividad minera hasta 1954.
En 1971 comenzó la remodelación de la ciudad industrial de Grand Hornu y 30 años después en 2002 se instala en este impresionaate complejo arquitectónico de estilo Necoclásico, el Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de la Federación de Valonia-Bruselas. Por su estado de conservación y por su valor histórico la ciudad Industrial de Grand Hornu fue declarada Patrimonio Mundial por la UNESCO en el año 2012.
40 miles away Brussels in the Wallonia region is the city of Mons. Mons is a small town, with barely 100,000 inhabitants, but its geographical location made it the setting for many major events in European history. As a result, this city has an important architectural legacy.
Grand-Hornu is a must visit in the Wallonia Region and it’s closely linked to the history of Belgium. The history of this place began in 1816, when the industrial miner Henri De Gorge purchased land here to extract coal. He designed an industrial city around mining, and built 435 houses for the workers, who kept mining until 1954.
In 1971, they began remodeling project for Grand-Hornu, and 30 years later, in 2002, they added the Modern Art Museum of the Wallonia-Brussels Federation to this impressive neoclassical style complex. Due to bot hits historical value and its well-preserved state, the Industrial city of Grand Hornu was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2012.

There are a lot well-marked hiking and walking routes all over Belgium. As we can't really travel freely in this current situation and I love to walk and be in nature, I decided to start exploring walking routes in Belgium. Why enjoying the walk, I tried to capture the beauty of nature in videos for you who also like and are curious about nature in Belgium.
This is my first video of exploring walking routes in Belgium; In this first episode of Exploring walking route in Belgium, I chose the Turfput walking route in Berlare, East-Flanders Belgium.

De stad Leuven ligt centraal in België, in de provincie Vlaams-Brabant. Leuven is met ongeveer honderdduizend inwoners een middelgrote stad in België. Het ligt op ruim dertig kilometer van de Belgische hoofdstad Brussel. Leuven heeft de bijnaam ‘Bierhoofdstad van België”. Deze naam is gebaseerd op een tweetal elementen: de aanwezigheid van de Artois-brouwerij (tegenwoordig Anheuser-Busch InBev) en de vele studenten die in Leuven studeren aan de KU Leuven of andere scholen. Het bier vloeit rijkelijk binnen het studentenleven. Vooral op de Oude Markt worden er wekelijks heel wat glaasjes Stella Artois en andere bieren weggetapt. Als bezoeker kom je terecht in een dynamische, jonge stad waar altijd wel iets te beleven valt. Diverse festivals, feesten en andere evenementen staan op de jaarlijkse kalender. In de zomermaanden vallen deze samen onder Het Groot Verlof. Als er niets georganiseerd wordt kun je in Leuven heerlijk winkelen, genieten van heerlijke spijzen en dranken, fietstochten maken of de bezienswaardigheden van de stad ontdekken. Niet voor niets dat Leuven steevast een hoge positie heeft in de top 10 van best bezochte Belgische steden.

The city of Leuven is centrally located in Belgium, in the province of Flemish Brabant. Leuven is a medium-sized city in Belgium with about one hundred thousand inhabitants. It is located over thirty kilometers from the Belgian capital, Brussels. Leuven has the nickname Beer Capital of Belgium. This name is based on two elements: the presence of the Artois brewery (now Anheuser-Busch InBev) and the many students who study in Leuven at the KU Leuven or other schools. Beer flows abundantly within student life. Especially at the Oude Markt, many glasses of Stella Artois and other beers are tapped away every week. As a visitor, you find yourself in a dynamic, young city where there is always something going on. Various festivals, parties and other events are on the annual calendar. In the summer months, these come together under the umbrella of the Great Holiday. If nothing is being organized, Leuven is a great place to store, enjoy delicious food and drink, go cycling or discover the sights of the city. Op stap in Mechelen
Dit weekend was het warm welkom weekend in Mechelen, dus namen we de trein om een dagje op stap te gaan in Mechelen. Het was een prachtige herfstdag, dus was het genieten geblazen. Vandaag hebben we weeral zoveel andere plaatsen ontdekt, waar we nog niet waren geweest.

This weekend was the warm welcome weekend in Mechelen, so we took the train (16-10-2021) to go out for a day in Mechelen. It was a beautiful autumn day, so we enjoyed it. Today we discovered so many other places we hadn't been to yet.
