If you want non touristy things to do in London how about a delightful walking tour of Primrose Hill, one of London's most splendid places to visit in London outside the centre. One of the most serene and beautiful neighbourhoods in London. Joolz (that's me) is a Londoner born and bred and loves to show people around and tell you his personal problems too (if you'll listen).

Julian McDonnell, your favourite London Guide and tourism film maker, starts at Chalk Fram Station where Madness took the photo for the cover of Baggy Trousers. Chalk Fram is also the location of the Winchester Club in Minder.
From there he takes you over Chalk Farm Bridge and down Regent's Park Road and into the village of Primrose Hill which has many cafes.
Then over Primrose Hill itself, which features in H.G. Wells War of the Worlds and donw towards Cecil Sharpe House, the Regents Canal and ultimately ending at The Landsdowne Pub.

Spencer Perceval, the only UK prime minister to be shot lived here.

After restoration the area became known as a pleasure garden with deer shooting and gambling and dancing. On a par with Vauxhall Gardens. It became so boisterous that residents had it closed down.
Pepys visited and remarked the gardens were too good for the house being indeed the most notable I ever saw.

Belsize Park Gardens

Mulberry Tree marked corner of the grounds of Belsize House.

There were 4 farms in the area Chalcot upper and Lwr, South End and South End Green

Places to see in ( London - UK ) Regent's Park

Places to see in ( London - UK ) Regent's Park

Regent's Park is one of the Royal Parks of London. Regent's Park lies within north-west London, partly in the City of Westminster and partly in the London Borough of Camden. contains Regent's University London and the London Zoo. The Regent's Park is Grade I listed on the Register of Historic Parks and Gardens.

Regent's Park has an outer ring road called the Outer Circle (4.45 km) and an inner ring road called the Inner Circle (1 km), which surrounds the most carefully tended section of the park, Queen Mary's Gardens. Apart from two link roads between these two, the park is reserved for pedestrians. The south, east and most of the west side of the park are lined with elegant white stucco terraces of houses designed by John Nash and Decimus Burton. Running through the northern end of the park is Regent's Canal, which connects the Grand Union Canal to the former London docks.

Regent's Park is mainly open parkland with a wide range of facilities and amenities, including gardens; a lake with a heronry, waterfowl and a boating area; sports pitches; and children's playgrounds. The northern side of Regent's Park is the home of London Zoo and the headquarters of the Zoological Society of London. There are several public gardens with flowers and specimen plants, including Queen Mary's Gardens in the Inner Circle, in which the Open Air Theatre is located; the formal Italian Gardens and adjacent informal English Gardens in the south-east corner of the park; and the gardens of St John's Lodge. Winfield House, the official residence of the U.S. Ambassador to the United Kingdom, stands in private grounds in the western section of the park. Nearby is the domed London Central Mosque, better known as Regent's Park mosque, a highly visible landmark.

Located to the south of the Inner Circle is Regent's University London, home of the European Business School London, Regent's American College London (RACL) and Webster Graduate School among others. On the northern side of Regent's Park is Primrose Hill, another open space, which with a height of 256 feet (78 m) has a clear view of central London to the south-east, as well as Belsize Park and Hampstead to the north. Primrose Hill is also the name given to the immediately surrounding district.

he public areas of Regent's Park are managed by The Royal Parks, a government agency. The Crown Estate Paving Commission is responsible for managing certain aspects of the built environment of Regent's Park. The park lies within the boundaries of the City of Westminster and the London Borough of Camden, but those authorities have only peripheral input to the management of the park. The Crown Estate owns the freehold of Regent's Park.

( London - UK ) is well know as a tourist destination because of the variety of places you can enjoy while you are visiting the city of London . Through a series of videos we will try to show you recommended places to visit in London - UK

Kenwood House & park: Places to Visit in London, Hampstead

Kenwood House is a free London attraction located in Hampstead, near Hampstead Heath in North London, NW3 7JR. The area was once historically known as Caen Wood, which became Caenwood and then Kenwood.

This house was made famous by the movie Belle (2013) which is based on the true story of Dido Elizabeth Belle, a daughter of a noble Englishman and a woman who was a slave in the West Indies. Dido was raised by her great uncle who lived in Kenwood, William Murray, 1st Earl of Mansfield in the late 1700s. She was brought up alongside the Earl's other niece, Lady Elizabeth Murray.

I hope you enjoy this walk / walking tour we took of the area that may give you an idea for places to visit in London for free.

If you're looking for cheap days out in London, visiting Kenwood House may be a good option.

The mansion is open every day between 10am and 5pm; entrance is free; and inside is a collection of paintings including some pretty well-known classical pieces by famous artists like Turner, Rembrandt, Frans Hals and Vermeer.

The house also has an attached cafeteria: the Brewhouse Cafe which I've also shown in this video.

The house is attractive from the outside too and was once featured in the film Notting Hill with Julia Roberts and Hugh Grant (where it was used as a movie set for a historical period drama Julia Roberts' character was acting in).

The house and grounds are also a popular choice as a venue for weddings and they do hire it out for evening events. Every so often the grounds are also used for hosting concerts at Kenwood, especially in the summer.

Kenwood also has some pretty grounds that connect into Hampstead Heath, one of the more famous parks in London. The grounds around Kenwood house include highlights like:

- Wood Pond, a pond the size of a small lake with it's many swimming inhabitants including ducks (if you're lucky you may see baby ducklings too), water birds, and even Kingfishers - we saw one although I wasn't quick enough to capture it on camera. There's a great view of this pond from Stone Bridge.

- View of the London city skyline, from where the pagoda used to be, up near Kitchen Gardens, just north east of Kenwood House. From here you can see the Shard, the Gherkin, the BT Tower and even the London Eye Wheel.

- Wildlife: We saw quite a few different animals on our 2 hour walk through the park: we saw a bunny rabbit, a rat, a bright blue kingfisher, fish in the Thousand Pound Pond, a European green woodpecker, a squirrel and plenty of other more common birds too like ducks, pigeons and magpies.

- Wild nature & meadow land: There are a few corners of Kenwood that are more wild, a little like the Heath. If you like the wild look, you may enjoy this. At golden hour with the sun setting I thought it looked really cool. There are also some wild blackberries growing around the park that you can pick and eat (but this is probably best to do only if you've very, very confident with fruit identification).
