BAN PONG - Infamous DEATH RAILAWAY Town That Became a Street Art Canvas
90 minutes out of Bangkok is Ban Pong, located between Ratchaburi and Kanchanaburi. It is a historic old market town, sitting on the banks of the Mae Khlong River. Once a harrowing place for many, back in WW2 when it was the location of a notorious POW camp; in fact it was from this down that construction of the Death Railway! Anyway, we are NOT here for that. I want to show you a potential stop on the way down to the coast of Hua Hin - a remarkable, colourful and friendly spot to have a walk about - there is a very old and traditional market selling everything from cloth to Hello Kitty watches. There was a festival here in 2017 and Thailand street art royalty turned up in their droves to paint up what used to be the town's cinema complex and the surrounding alleyways - Alex Face, Muebon et al literally 'went to town' on this place. I always like to find a cool spot or three on the way somewhere, to 'stretch my legs'. This place did not disappoint; it left my son and I with huge smiles on our faces - we also grabbed some street food from just around the corner, which was delicious!
If you are the local 'head' or governor of a place here in Thailand and you can't afford to 'regenerate' the town, then call for the street art A-team - they will not disappoint!!

Rice Terraces in this video are located in Chiang Mai Province near Doi Inthanon National Park. Doi Inthanon is the highest mountain in Thailand which is located about two hours by car from Chiang Mai city. This area has many waterfalls and is famous for beautiful mountainous landscapes. Nestled right beside this park are these rice terraces known as Ban Pa Pong Piang. This is a popular scenic spot for many Thai locals. It is worth the time to stop by if you are visiting Chiang Mai Province while in Thailand. One of the popular times to visit rice terraces in Thailand is during the rainy season July-September due to the rice turning green. After the rainy season the rice will turn to a more yellow color before being harvested.
Rice Terrace may also be known as Pa Pong Pieng.
