Hi! We're Nico (a Belgian) and Jana (a British-Canadian) and we met in a hostel while each solo traveling through New Zealand. We fell in love, bought a van and traveled around the country together. After plans to move to Europe together in April 2020 were derailed by COVID-19, we spent an extra 6 months in New Zealand first in lockdown and then traveling in our van. In September 2020, the borders reopened to EU citizens and flights restarted so we finally made the move to Belgium where we spend our weekends exploring as much of the country as we can.

In deze video geef ik jullie tips en ideeën voor een bezoek aan 1 van de vele Belgische gemeenten.
In 2017 startte mijn uitdaging om alle Belgische gemeenten te bezoeken. Ik startte met mijn smartphone en gopro, die ik na verloop van tijd heb ingeruild voor een compacte camera met veel betere beelden.
Hier volgt een overzicht van de eerste twintig gemeenten die ik bezocht. Wat kan je allemaal doen in België? Een erfgoedwandeling, een bezoek aan een steenkoolmijn, een lichtshow bekijken, een kasteel bezoeken, op pad gaan in de plantentuin van Meise of een van de vele natuurreservaten, parken en bossen.
In iedere gemeente is er wel iets te beleven of te zien.

Als je wil genieten van de rust in typisch Kempense bossen is deze wandeling zeker een aanrader...
De volledige 11 km wandel je over zandwegen door de bossen...
De Hoge Vijvers is ongeveer 500 hectare groot en ligt in de Turnhoutse Kempen, op grondgebied van de gemeente Arendonk, tussen het Kempens kanaal en de Nederlandse grens. Perceeltjes naaldhoutbos en brede bosdreven wisselen er elkaar af. Op de niet-verharde boswegen kom je speciale plantensoorten tegen zoals de grondster, duizendguldenkruid, tandjesgras en mannetjesereprijs.

We do a virtual walking tour Tivolipark Mechelen with more nature in a lush English garden or historic garden with a large pond. As a point of interest we look at a historic castle with orangery.
The public park is very child-friendly. We also pass a bee farm, a large playground and a petting zoo with cuddly moments. Mechelen profiles itself as a children's city. Your children will not be bored by all the organized or individual activities in our city.
The city of Mechelen is located in Belgium in the federal state of Flanders. It is 25 km from the major cities of Antwerp and Brussels.
