10. Cameron Lake & Cathedral Grove
These are located near each other in central Vancouver Island, sitting between Parksville and Port Alberni. Cameron lake is a tranquil spot on the island with many other natural attractions in the area. Witness the old-growth giant trees at Cathedral Grove and more.
9. Goldstream Provincial Park
Located right outside of Victoria, Goldstream Provincial Park is a great spot for hiking, camping and connecting with nature. Explore the beautiful “Niagara” waterfall or do a challenging hike to the neighboring peak of Mount Finlayson.

8. Victoria
Sitting on the southern end, Victoria is the most popular and accessible destination on Vancouver Island. Within a 20-minute driving radius of the city, there are tons of things to do in Victoria. You can choose to explore the British colonial Downtown on foot, take a tour to the magnificent Butchart Gardens, see the stunning Hatley Castle, or explore the wildlife on a whale watching tour.

7. Port Renfrew
The fishing village of Port Renfrew is another place you cannot miss on Vancouver Island! Also called Wild Renfrew, this area is known for its ancient rainforest, world-class hiking trails, and its stunning beaches.
6. Cowichan Valley
Cowichan Valley is another unique place to visit on Vancouver Island. Activities to enjoy here include hiking or biking Mount Tzouhalem, sipping wine at one of the idyllic vineyards, exploring the largest totem pole collection in Duncan, and seeing the sea lions in Cowichan Bay.
5. Lake Cowichan
Lake Cowichan is another amazing travel destination worth mentioning on its own. This freshwater lake is about 30 km or 18.6mi long and sits to the west of Duncan, in the Cowichan Valley.
4. Shawnigan Lake
Located about 40km north of Victoria at the southern edge of the Cowichan Valley, Shawnigan Lake is a popular place to vacation. The lake is 7km long and great for fishing, swimming, and sunbathing in the summer. But what we like the most in this area is hiking.

Mystic Beach has a beautiful waterfall that Cascades into the ocean, whereas Sombrio Beach has the best vibe for beach camping. Sombrio is a popular weekend getaway with friends or family during the summer and also offers some hidden waterfalls of its own.
2. Tofino & Ucluelet
Tofino and Ucluelet are both great destinations to get away and relax in nature on Vancouver Island! There is amazing hiking and surfing, and you will find the sandiest beaches on the island here! Otter Co-op Outdoor Experience || Langley Township || Aldergrove Water Park
The Otter Co-op Outdoor Experience in Aldergrove feels plucked from a movie set! Seriously check out the amazing water attractions that are open to the public! And be ready to be shocked by the prices… it is RIDICULOUSLY cheap to visit! It’s less than $40 TOTAL for a family of four.
The Outdoor Experience area is open for 2 sessions every day 11am – 1:30pm and 2:15pm – 4:45pm. On Friday, Saturday and Sunday there is a third session from 5:30pm – 8pm
The leisure pool is open every day from 10am – 9:30pm.
The facility includes: a 25 m pool, 1 and 3 m diving boards, a hot tub, a leisure pool, a sauna, a steam room, a lazy river channel, a spray park, a tidal pool, and THREE water slides!Tips for a Successful Visit to the Otter Co-op Outdoor Experience:
Bring a pre-filled water bottle.
Bring your own collapsible chairs. Chairs, lounge chairs, and picnic tables are available on a first-come, first-served basis
Personal water toys such as tubes and mats are not permitted.
Please do not arrive earlier than 45 minutes prior to your session.
Leave your valuables at home. Only wallet lockers will be available.
Come dressed and ready to swim.
Change rooms/showers will be available for the final 30 minutes of the session, with an additional 10 minutes after the session. Guests must exit the area within 15 minutes following the session.
There are no “in and out” privileges.
Familiarize yourself with the height and weight restrictions.

Mrs. Claus Makes Special Visit to Aldergrove, BC Tree Lighting Event.
As Mrs. Claus's personal sleigh was in the shop at the North Pole, we were not convinced she would make her appearance. Fortunately for the kids and community, Constable Mann of the Langley RCMP stepped in and drove a great distance to provide Mrs. Claus with a ride in one of the cities SUV patrol vehicles. As the RCMP vehicles are equipped with 4 wheel drive and snow tires, it was not problem to get her to the stage in time. Mrs. Claus excited the crown, both young and old as she led a sing along to Jingle Bells and read a special Christmas story before lighting the magical Aldergrove Christmas Tree.
Several others made a special appearance including the dancing Christmas Tree, The Gingerbread Man and the Grinch brought his dog out for a little stroll through the magical event. Constable Mann, like the police from Whoville were seeking the Grinch to ensure he continues to show is big heart this holiday season. Although the Grinch was ready to be placed into the RCMP Cruiser, he instead promised to be on his best behavior this holiday season so Constable Mann allowed him to return to the festivities.
Many children took advantage of the magic mailbox at the event. They wrote letters to Santa while at the community event and deposited them into the mailbox. All letters then were magically delivered to Santa and his helpers within minutes.
The Tree now stands lit up for everyone to enjoy. About 350 people were in attendance for the lighting but thousands will enjoy seeing it at the corner of 272nd Street and Fraser Highway in Aldergrove for the rest of the holiday season (provided that the Grinch stays true to his promise and is on his best behavior). #ChristmasinAldergrove #Aldergrove #AldergroveBC #LangleyBC #TownshipofLangley #KaryMoversLtd #ProPicsCanadaMediaLtd

In this video, we review the highly debated route 21 run by Central Fraser Valley Transit System. This discussion stems from the larger topic of transit options between Metro Vancouver and the Fraser Valley.
Route 21 provides local bus service between Aldergrove and Abbotsford at Borquin Exchange. The service started in 2007 and provides hourly/bi-hourly service every day with a few trips to YXX Abbotsford International Airport.

Aldergrove Campground on McCreight Lake
A walk through video of the free Aldergrove Campground on McCreight Lake which is located northeast of Campbell River on Vancouver Island.
The campground consists of 2 campsites, a pit toilet, 1 picnic table, fire pits and beach access. The first campsite is large enough for a camper or trailer but better suited for a tent.
Fishing is very good for Cutthroat Trout throughout the lake. The lake has been stocked consistently up to 2006.
