Bled Castle, Slovenia | Medieval Castle
Bled Castle is a medieval castle built on a precipice above the city of Bled in Slovenia, overlooking Lake Bled. According to written sources, it is the oldest Slovenian castle and is currently one of the most visited tourist attractions in Slovenia. Nowadays, the castle is employed as a historical museum with a collection that represents the lake's history.
History and structures
The castle was first mentioned in a 22 May 1011 deed of donation issued by Emperor Henry II in favour of the Bishops of Brixen, and it was their residence for eight centuries. Then located in the March of Carniola, it passed to the Austrian House of Habsburg in 1278.
The oldest part of the castle is the Romanesque tower. In the Middle Ages more towers were built and the fortifications were improved. Other buildings were constructed in the Renaissance style. The buildings are arranged around two courtyards, which are connected with a staircase. There is a chapel in the upper courtyard, which was built in the 16th century and renovated around 1700, when it was also painted with illusionist frescoes. The castle also has a drawbridge over a moat.

Po słonecznym Piranie znowu wjeżdżamy w strefę uciążliwych opadów deszczu.
W pobliżu miejscowości Šentjernej znajduje się średniowieczny Klasztor Kartuzów Pleterje. Jego historia sięga pierwszej dekady XV wieku. W kolejnych wiekach opactwo rozwijało się dzięki produkcji i sprzedaży wytwarzanych przez zakonników cenionych w regionie nalewek, miodów oraz win. Odwiedzający mają możliwość degustacji zakonnych produktów oraz zakupić w przyklasztornegm sklepiku wytwarzane przez zakonników tradycyjne klasztorne wino oraz słynną nalewkę gruszkówkę (hruška).
Miasto Celje położne nad rzeką Savinją w starożytności nosiło łacińską nazwę Celeia. Obecnie Celie jest trzecim co do wielkości miastem Słowenii. W Muzeum Regionalnym w Celje (Pokrajinski muzej) można zapoznać się z historią miasta od czasów starożytnych po współczesne. Mieści się ono w imponującej, pięknej posiadłości zwanej hrabiowską rezydencją (Stara Grofija). Na szczególną uwagę zasługuje słynny sufit w głównej komnacie. W pobliżu Muzeum Regionalnego jest Dolny Zamek zwany Pałacem Książęcym (Knezji Dvor), gdzie mieści się w podziemiach stała wystawa archeologiczna ukazująca pozostałości po dawnym rzymskim mieście (Celeia - miasto pod miastem). Inną z wystaw poświęcono historii książąt cylejskich. Zaskakującymi eksponatami są tu czaszki władców Celje, którzy zostali ekshumowani. Można je oglądać przez krzyżowe szczeliny osłon.
Warto wspomnieć też o mieszkankach Celje: Alma M. Karlin i Ana Celjska. Pierwsza to słynna podróżniczka, pisarka, i poliglotka, która odbyła podróż dookoła świata. Druga to oczywiście Anna Cylejska, królowa Polski, druga żona króla Władysława Jagiełły, wnuczka Kazimierza Wielkiego.
Maribor to drugie co do wielkości miasto Słowenii. Byli tu Celtowie i Rzymianie. Obecnie miasto stawia na rozwój turystyki. Na głównym placu (Glavni trg) wznosi się Kolumna Plagi ufundowana podczas epidemii dżumy w XVIII w. We wnętrzu zamku cesarza Fryderyka III można oglądać min. piękne barokowe schody. Jest też oczywiście katedra z XII w. później przebudowywana. Nad brzegiem Drawy można zobaczyć najstarszą na świecie winorośl, która nadal obradza, mimo iż ma ponad 400 lat. Deszczowa pogoda i wysoki poziom wody w rzece uniemożliwił realizację turystycznego spływu tratwami i zastępczo odbył się wieczór zorganizowany przez Flisaków z Mariboru (pełny film jest dostępny na YT tylko dla uczestników wycieczki).

Experiencing VAN LIFE with motorhome along the Croatian coast
At the start of this summer we went on a 9 day tip along the Croatian coast. We used Adria Mobil Compact as our home while Oli the vizsla was our chauffeur. The start and finish were in Slovenia while the rest of the trip was as following:

The project sought to raise awareness and social responsibility in the field of heritage conservation in the local environment and, consequently, in the European Union, through informal tools and methods. In particular, with the help of two young volunteers, we have sought to motivate them into thinking that their own behaviour and their own responsibility can affect the improvement of attitude towards the heritage left to us by our ancestors and thus protect it in some way. At the same time, an important objective was to enable the two volunteers, who were interested in the field of protection and preservation of cultural heritage, also through ICT technology, to participate actively in the implementation of the project, as well as in the implementation of the activities that we planned for the project. In doing
so, they acquired new knowledge and practical experiences and developed competences in this field, which made an important contribution to personal fulfilment, inclusion, adaptability, innovation and, last but not least, to the creation of labour market advantages and employability.
