When you first arrive at Sannomiya Station, you’ll be greeted by department stores like SOGO and OIOI where you can get many luxury fashion items. But if you’re into more the local shopping scene then it’s a must to venture into the shopping streets, also known as shotengai.

When Kobe it’s international port in 1868, this foreign settlement was constructed. Designed by British Civil engineers the 126 blocks were auctioned to western foreigners. 70% of the buildings were destroyed after the World War II air raids in 1945. Kobe city decided preserved the remaining buildings as cultural properties.

Trivia: The prefectural government is located in Urawa and it seems that Urawa is the center of Saitama but the Shikansen station is really powerful. Omiya has become the biggest town in Saitama. I'm sorry but Omiya seems to have won in the rival dispute with Urawa.
